Thank you Tod, Virginia and Max I had a wonderful time, was made to feel most welcome. Great location close to the city, cool stores, theatres and a huge choice of dinning and the L is just around the corner. If your an inner city person and thrive on the eccentricities this is the place for you but if you like the security of sameness I would suggest stick to the sterility of a Chain hotel. Trader Tods was a great introduction to American baseball hey and this Kiwi hope his luck keeps on for the Cubs.

My wife and I booked a room for a weekend for a friend's wedding. We love our stay, and especially the hospitality of the staff was A+. When we first arrived, we were there around noon and had to call a cell phone to get the attendant to come let us in. However, they were able to have our room ready for us early and let us enjoy the rest of the day in Chicago worry free. The convenience of the location is great for public transportation, and the neighborhood of Wrigleyville has a great feel to it. They also have made the basement area into an after-hours speakeasy open until 1am on weekends - it just helped add to the charm and feel of being in Chicago. The room itself was tiny, but other rooms were larger, so it may just depend on what's available for what price. But we spent most of our time outside in the city, so the small room was a non-issue for us. Also, the TV while cable offered very weird options, like old TV shows. Not sure what cable it was, but it was not a standard cable (i.e., no HBO, ESPN, etc.). The private bathroom not attached to our room was a bit annoying, but again, for us not a deal-breaker. Breakfast was a nice mix of homemade and your basic continental breakfast. The charm of the spot and the service of the staff more than made up for any inadequacies. I highly recommend it to those who enjoy B&Bs.

Called to announce we were at O Hare and Sara said , meet you at the Inn at preset time, when we arrived , there she was to let us in. Max the next day helped with a dinner reservation, good recommendation. Unfortunately husband injured his back which limited some of our activities. Virginia the innkeeper could not have been more accommodating due to the circumstances. Will we return...absolutely. Location is ideal to transit, restaurants.

I chose the Old Chicago Inn because I was coming to town to catch a Cubs weekend home stand and I wanted to be within walking distance of Wrigley Field to really get a feel for the Wrigleyville neighborhood. The last time I came to Chicago for some Cubs games I stayed in a 4-star hotel near O'Hare and commuted to the games. It was fun but a bit antiseptic so I was looking for a "full emersion" experience this time. Also, this time my wife for a romantic long weekend get-away. The innkeeper, David, was very helpful with our need for an early check in due to the start time of the game. He also had several helpful suggestions on how to navigate the city when we went sightseeing. The building is a turn of the century greystone in the middle of a historic neighborhood. There is a neighborhood grocer next door to pick up drinks and snacks for the games (much cheaper than buying inside the stadium). There is an el train station 1 block away and most importantly, there is a Giordano's Pizza restaurant 1.5 blocks away. The room was generously sized with hardwood floors and attractive, period correct furniture. Yes, the bathroom was about 20 feet down the hall but it wasn't a huge inconvenience (2 baths on the hall so no waiting). The floors would creak a bit but that's part of the ambiance I was looking for. We came wanting to feel like we were part of the neighborhood for the weekend and really got the vibe for what it's like to live in Wrigleyville. This was a much fuller experience than a Marriot and 25 minute drive.
