Upon entering The Dwelling Place you will be stepping into the 1918 era of Craftsman style homes, but completely updated, creating a lovely environment to refresh your spirit, soul and body. Dining and shopping in the quaint boutiques and restaurants are within 1-2 blocks of our home. Enjoying the many gardens and also within walking distance. They are a threat to enjoy. The windmill where flour is ground for the bakery is an amazing tour just 3 blocks away. The original house where founders, Peter and Mareah Schlolte came and settled from the Netherlands, just behind our house. Visit the gardens with 25,000 tulips in the spring as part of their house. We were honored by The Pella Historical Trust Society for restoration and historical preservation of the house in 2013. Come and enjoy our home as much as we do! Relax and treat yourself to an enjoyable 2 or 3 day summer vacation. With Red Rock lake only 3 miles away, providing biking, walking trails, picnics, and simply resting under a shade tree, truly a place 'set apart'. My husband and I recently visited Iowa. We were so pleased with our accommodations at The Dwelling Place. Beverly and Doug are gracious hosts who made us feel at home. Pella is a charming town.

My wife and I had never stayed in a B & B before. We were always a little concerned about what it would feel like to stay in someone's home that we don't know. All of those fears were gone in moments. After meeting Bev and Doug you realize you are truly welcomed as one of the family. This was very much like staying with that part of your family that you really like! The home is beautiful and it's restoration has obviously been a labor of love for them. If you have never stayed in a B & B before or if you do it all of the time, you will love the Dwelling Place. I can't imagine a warmer, more peaceful place or better hosts than Doug and Bev. My wife and I both highly recommend the Dwelling Place. We will be telling all of our friends and will consider this a wonderful gift idea for anniversaries or other special events. Thank you Doug and Bev for your obedience to the Lord and for making our first B & B experience such a joy.
Thank you for your kind and genuine words. They are much appreciated. It was a pleasure to get to know you both and to hear of others living out their faith in a family setting.

Doug and Bev do not run this as a business, they run it as their home and guests become part of their family!! The main meal, breakfast, is delicious and beautifully plated. The Terpstra's kitchen remains open for guests beyond breakfast to help themselves to coffee, water, soft drinks, or even ice cream at any time. Conversation at the breakfast table can continue in the warm and comfortable living room where Doug and Bev welcome people to kick off their shoes and escape from life's worrisome problems. They will also, when requested, offer spiritual guidance for some of us grieving, lost souls. I, personally, do not consider Bev and Doug Terpstra, new acquaintances, but new members of my family. Thank you Bev and Doug, Carol Reardon
Carol, words cannot express our gratitude! Thank you and may The Lord continue to meet you.

We just loved our stay at The Dwelling Place. Doug and Bev have done a wonderful job breathing new life into their beautiful home. They are fantastic hosts. We stayed in their upstairs suite which is spacious, and felt like home. They are located so convenient to downtown Pella. It was nice to be able to just walk from their home to explore stores and restaurants. The breakfast Bev served was delicious! I would gladly return on another visit, and would highly recommend The Dwelling Place to anyone traveling to the Pella area.

This is a fine bed and breakfast in such a lovely town. The location, just a few houses off downtown, is perfect for walking and visiting the local sights and shops. The entire house is kept EXTREMELY clean and tidy. Food was tasty. The couple that owns it are sweet, godly people. You won't find something this perfect many other places.

Doug and Beverly Terpstra
Doug and Beverly enjoy visiting with people. Doug has enjoyed doing woodworking and designing and making a couple small projects. Beverly likes to do a little creating, she has made a few quilts and the curtains in the house. We like visiting with those who come in our home they become such a blessing to us and our lives are enriched by meeting them. We love reading and sharing about the things we read.
Continental if requested
Our quiche is delicious and served with a variety of tastes. Doug's favorite blueberry coffee cake is a mouth watering delight. A full breakfast includes a quiche, or another hot egg and meat dish, or pancakes and waffles with fruit, a fresh fruit so some kind served in a lovely dish along side. You will also be privileged to enjoy a homemade coffee cake or healthy muffins or maybe even pastries from a bakery. Bev enjoys preparing your breakfast with the extras. Coffee and tea are always available. Come and experience our lovely environment and leave refreshed.
