Designed by architect Thomas McInerney and built in 2007, the inn offers up-to-the-minute conveniences while lovingly incorporating the beauty of tradition.
Lydia's bathroom has a claw-foot tub and vintage details and fixtures.
Lydia's Room has a sitting area and the room is adjacent to the outside upstairs deck.
Lydia's Room has an adjacent private full bath and close access to roof patio.
Lydia's bed is queen-sized. The windows above let morning light gently in the room.
The Architect's Suite: Queen-sized bed, private 3/4 bathroom with a oversized walk-in shower, radiant heated floors, and ground floor access.
The architect's suite has a 3/4 bath fully tiled room with a geothermal heated floor and walk-in shower. Virtually all interior finishes, fixtures and tile are from salvaged sources.
Sophie's Room has a queen-sized bed and DirectTV.
Sophie's Bathroom has a claw foot tub with a optional shower fixture. Robes are also provided.
Sophie's Room has its own private bath.
Breakfast will be served to you here.

This is one of our vegetarian breakfasts: soy sausage, homemade biscuit, salsa, egg puff, Desert: grilled pineapple with whipped cream and blueberries.

Our home is a newly constructed energy efficient traditional-modern hybrid home with salvaged Iowan dark walnut wainscotting in the dining room and receiving area. Each quest room has its own private bathing and restroom suite custom designed by the host, owner and resident architect. Iowa City downtown is a 25-minute walk or 7 minute drive away.

We stayed here while visiting our grad student son. We were greeted graciously and shown to our room. Our host gave us a brief tour and told us about the construction of the house. The bed w,as very comfortable and the room was quiet. The breakfast in the morning was delicious and nutritious. We will definitely stay here again on future visits to our son.

Shelly and Tom gave me the kindest sweetest treatment I've ever received. My room was stately in the classic presidential fashion and clean to a fault. The direct tv was a nice touch, but I really appreciated the excellent wifi connection the most. I would stay there every time I travel through Iowa City. Finally it was the weekend before christmas and my stay included an amazing breakfast with christmas treats to top it off. Thanks Shelly and Tom!

The hostess (Shelly) is an absolute delight and an imaginative exceptional cook. Her passion for glassware is apparent and interestingly displayed as well as used. Rooms are somewhat small but very warm and inviting. The only drawback was hanging clothes, as one has to use a number of small wall hooks scattered about that hold only a few hangers each. All things considered we look forward to a return visit.

We stayed overnight recently and really enjoyed our stay. The house is beautiful and our hosts were very welcoming. The breakfast we had in the morning was simply amazing. It was one of the best breakfast's I have ever eaten in my life. I look forward to a return visit.
