We picked this inn out of many other reviewed B&Bs and were not disappointed. It is very tastefully decorated both downstairs and in the bedrooms. The host was very welcoming, friendly and knowlegeable about Iowa City. We had a small refrigerator in our room and soft drinks and also access to teas and coffee. The breakfast was continental style with wonderful homemade pastries, breads, granola fruit and hardboiled eggs. The B&B location is close to downtown and the house where Kurt Vonnegut stayed while at the U of I is next door. There is parking behind the house and on the street.

Returning to Iowa City for a reunion with old college friends, we were so pleased to find the Brown Street Inn as our home away from home. The Innkeepers are fabulous, not intrusive, but always ready to provide directions, suggestions on dining options or just sharing their knowledge of Iowa City history. The house is impeccable. Spotlessly clean, elegantly decorated and completely welcoming. Breakfast during the week was just what we wanted, healthy, flavorful and fresh. On the weekend we were dazzled with unique creative breakfasts freshly made and served with perfection. We have stayed in many B & Bs around the US and Europe and this was by far one of the top 5. You can not do any better.
