I just wanted to thank Clarke Manor for a wonderful weekend. My wife and I had a great experience at Clarke Manor. Our wedding was beautiful. Exactly how we pictured it! Rose went above and beyond to make our experience special. She was so accomadating and made us feel at home. We didnt want to leave on Monday. Thank you again and we hope to return for our 1 year anniversary.

We originally had booked three nights and added a fourth to our stay in this gracious and comfortable base for exploring Dubuque and the surrounding area. The house is spacious and attractively decorated without being loaded with knicknacks. Guests are welcome to enjoy various sitting rooms, including a cozy library and an airy sunroom, and to climb the spiral staircase to a newly rebuilt cupola with rooftop deck, which is one of the highest spots in Dubuque and offers great views of the Mississippi and the city. Breakfasts were wonderful, and we appreciated the afternoon treats and very much enjoyed conversation with our hosts.

We had a delightful stay at the Clarke Manor. The ambiance of the house and grounds were most inviting. We were enamored with the unique cupola and the beautiful view form the adjacent deck. In our short visit we relished the graciousness and hospitality of Clarke Manor as a home away from home. Also, thanks to Barbara we had inside information on the city of Dubuque so that we were able to make the best of our short visit.

Clarke manor is very clean, cozy & comfortable. The innkeeper, Rose, is very friendly & helpful. her breakfast was outstanding! We stayed in the Asia Room & loved it. We highly recommend Clarke Manor.

Fabulous 1850's mansion, obviously well preserved, maintained and did we mention super clean? It oozes elegance, charm and warm hospitality. We can't wait to go back, kick back, sip gourmet coffee and let the world go by. Dick and Pat

I've had the pleasure of staying at Clarke Manor for several nights recently. (I remember the place from childhood memories as the Roshek mansion; we used to live a few doors down the street.) I enjoyed my stay immensely thanks largely to the efforts of the Manor's Innkeeper, Rose, who provided us with remarkable hospitality. What proved disappointing nonetheless, was the condition of the grounds. I had always remembered from childhood the manicured lawns and highly cultivated flower beds amongst beautiful trees. Unfortunately, the grounds have been severely neglected, begging for the attentions of a qualified gardener. Hopefully Clarke Manor can be restored to its fullest potential by bringing the grounds back to their original splendor. If this were done, why would anyone want to stay anywhere else while visiting Dubuque and the surrounding areas?

My husband and I stayed recently at Clarke Manor. Rose, the Innkeeper, is a jewel (and a great cook!) The house is pretty special too. Great views from the rooftop, beautifully, comfortably decorated - not lacy & stuffy. The beds are sooo comfortable, but my husband's favorite amenity is the big screen tvs and the gorgeous paneled library. We'll definitely be back for more pampering!

The Clarke Manor was featured twice in this months Dubuque Area Magazine: once for being on the Old House Enthusiasts annual tour and once for an Historic Preservation Award. We called at the last minute and were pleasantly surprised by the affordable room rate. Ten minutes later we were being welcomed by Rose Ames, the innkeeper. Dubuque is a treasure trove of historic architecture of which the Clarke Manor is a gracious example. The view of downtown from the rooftop patio is panoramic. All the rooms were above average. We were too busy touring to relax at the manor, but there were numerous sitting rooms, sitting rooms, patios, and porches in which to linger. The gratis fruit and wine were a nice touch. A great B&B that deserves to do well. We'll stay there again.

Clarke Manor was exceptional in its fine, sophisticated taste, simple elegance and wonderful service. We stayed in a room the owners themselves stay in, and it was just as good as "The Ritz". Highly recommend it!

My wife and I couldn't believe what wonderful care Rose and the owners treated us to. We felt absolutely at home and felt so at ease. Everything was top notch and the view from the cupola/roof deck was outstanding. If you are visiting Dubuque this is the place to be. Rose was extremely helpful with details as to what to do, where to go and where to eat. We will be back and soon. The Italian suite was our home and was ever so relaxing.

Clarke Manor exceeded our expectations of the typical B&B. From the gorgeous rooms to the fantastic roof deck & cupola, everything was perfect! Rose made us feel welcome & special from the first call to book our reservation. The breakfast was outstanding. We'll definitely be back!

We arrived at Clarke Manor in historic Dubuque, Iowa and was greeted by Rose, the innkeeper. She is a treasure! After showing us to our room, she gave us a tour of the beautiful home. We felt so comfortable and spent a wonderful night. We were fortunate to stay in the Italian Suite. The decorating throughout the home is very tasteful and aimed at making the guests feel elegant plus comfortable. The breakfast Rose served us was wonderful!! We had a wonderful evening and I recommend it highly.
