Entering through the doors of this Victorian Fantasy, you are greeted with an old world elegance. Intricately carved woodworking detail and spellbinding grandeur. Designed by Nicols and Halcott of Albany in 1873, this High Victorian Gothic exhibits influences from the French Renaissance, Italian, and Egyptian styles. The red and gray slate mansard roof is bifurcated by dormers, each accented by a huge clamshell arch. The ivory stucco facade is studded by a myriad of ornate bays and its conical tower resembling a minaret is right out of the Arabian nights. The Deerfield Valley Inn was built by John Davis in 1885 from lumber worked in his waterwheel mill located across the street. It was the last such home built in West Dover and the first guest inn in the Mount Snow area. The Inn still has much of the original wax rubbed ash encasements and millwork. Over the years new wings were added to the original building. You will find the Inn on the National Register of Historic Places. The home was converted in 1952 into the first Inn in the Mount Snow Area, at the same time as the original downhill trails were opened. Many of the individually decorated guest rooms have their own wood burning fireplaces and sitting areas. All rooms have private bathrooms, and cable TV. The living room of the Inn invites you to relax and enjoy the comforts of true Southern Vermont hospitality. A full country breakfast and a light afternoon tea are served daily. The Mountaineer Inn is a traditional mountain lodge located at the base of the Mount Snow resort in Southern Vermont. The Inn remains a quiet mountain retreat with friendly attentive service and home cooked meals. The Inn is family owned and operated. While we have many outstanding features, a particular favorite is that we are conveniently located at the base of Mount Snow. This allows Mountaineer Inn guests to walk to all Mount Snow events and it's skiing, hiking and mountain biking trails. The Inn sits on a beautiful 10-acre meadow bordered by two brooks. The entire Inn is non-smoking, BYOB and all guest rooms have private baths and each is individually decorated. While there are no TVs in the guestrooms we have 2 large screen TVs in the lounges. Our 14-person outdoor hot tub is always a popular place to gather after a day on the mountain.

Built in 1881, this Victorian home has been restored to its simple yet elegant state.
