    Perfect place

    March 07, 2013

I would like to enthusiastically endorse the previous reviews. Villa Soledad is absolutely magic and by far the best place we stayed in our travels round Honduras. The views are stunning and we saw more beautiful birds in their lovely gardens than we had seen in the rest of Honduras. John and Soledad couldn't have been sweeter and more obliging. Soledad even changed all the furniture around in our huge and beautiful bedroom for me so that I could see the valley from the bed! The food (which included lunches and supper when requested) was absolutely wonderful too and Soledad had breakfast ready at 5am one morning when we had a particularly early bird-watching start and she will also give you supper if you let her know in advance. We were there for 3 nights and I would want to go back to Honduras simply to stay there again.

My husband and I shared a double room at this beautiful B&B. Spacious, clean and comfortable. Some rooms had t.v. - not ours, but we didn't want it. Take your own hairdryer if needed. Soledad made us very welcome even though English was limited. John was away, but hope to meet him another time. Almost more tasty food than we could manage to eat. Lovely homemade fruit juices, such as cashew juice and sorrel juice. Take cash (US$ or Limpera) as no ATM's in area. Free hi-speed wifi. Earplugs recommended if you don't want to be kept awake by loud, honking frogs at night and dawn chorus of screeching birds! However, these sounds are well worth experiencing. If you're prone to mozzie bites, remember this gorgeous place is in a rainforest, so take lightweight clothes to cover up on an evening, whilst dining on the tranquil balcony overlooking the garden. They aren't abundant but better safe than itchy! Definitely take your camera or a sketch pad. B&B is in one National Park overlooking another, accessed by a footbridge over the wide river, just a short walk from La Villa de Soledad. This B&B is the best I've ever stayed in.
