We just stayed one night, but we immediately felt at home. The Location is perfect to explore the Volcano park. Our host was super friendly and the breackfast was simply amazing! We can only recommend Aloha Happy Place!

Aloha Happy Place is extremely well situated for anyone looking to roam around Volcano National Park and keeping in mind its proximity to the park, the price is relatively low. Although the beds aren't too comfortable (and quite short), the overall atmosphere and the friendliness of the inn keeper easily make up for it. The warm breakfast she provides every morning is very tasty and she can provide you with anything you might need during your stay (like an umbrella, a flashlight or even a jacket for those surprised by the colder temperatures). We would definitely recommend to stay here.

We stayed here one night and were very happy with our stay. Beautiful historic house with a beautiful large fireplace in the downstairs sitting room. Lovely antiques throughout the home. Comfortable rooms, we were worried at first about being cold overnight since it was cool and rainy out, but we were warm. The bathroom had been modernized but there wasn't hot water. They were working on a plumbing issue when we arrived, so it may have been related to that. We didn't mention it to the staff since we didn't really need it for our short stay. They were very gracious and offered umbrellas and rain coats for our visit to the national park. we would stay here again!

I loved my stay here. Yes, the house is old and has its quirks, but that's more than made up for by the love in the room and in the paddocks. You get a very strong sense of a live lived well and sustainably. I'd stay here again any day. The only issue I had was that the dining room can be pretty dark and gloomy on a sunny morning. An unexpected joy, however, was Joan's book and music collection, which demonstrate great taste.... it's been a while since I've given Tanika Tikaram a spin....

Lovely house, nicely decorated/ furnished. I rented whole house for family of 7. Paniolo room had a very bad odor???. Happily My mom and daughters didn't mind. I could've stayed in it. Papaya served in morning also seemed past its age or it was of a variety less palatable. Slept peacefully plenty of blankets. It was a really cool old house. Ideal location near Volcano Park . Pleasant hosts

We loved our stay at Aloha Happy Place. We felt steeped in Hawaiian history viewing the photos on the wall and the books in the library. A comfortable bed with a lush duvet gave us a great night's sleep. Great homemade breakfast. Joan the owner is a delight. We'd stay there again anytime!

We stayed at Aloha Happy Place late December, 2014. It was a quick trip to Volcano, Hi, but our hard-working host Joan made sure we felt welcome and comfortable. The room was bright, airy and clean, with vintage touches and a large, vintage bathroom. The property is large, with goats, chickens, and cats we could watch from our room. It was quiet. The weather was cool and foggy, but the beds were warm and comfortable. A wonderful trip. A delicious breakfast featuring local fruits was served.

It does not take a lot of land but a lot of hard work and ingenuity along with an understanding of your surroundings.
