I have fallen in love with this private B&B. The room was large and the closet was a walk in with a mini refridgerator and microwave (saved us from eating out every night). When I didn;'t want to go to the beach (which was SO close) I could lounge by the private, large pool. The setting was gorgeous, set back in the Ohias with the landscape acting as its own little botanical garden! We initialy intended to sleep in on most of the days of the trip but after that first breakfast I refused to miss another- delicious! Cindy and Rick were dead helpful with any questions we had about the surrounding area or the Big Island in general. I intend to return as soon as possible, thank you for the best vacation in years!

My Boyfriend and I recently stayed in Pahoa, Hi at Ohia House BB. It was a very private one room B&B with great service and wonderful hosts. Cindy served a wonderful breakfast every morning, the fresh fruit was amazing. It was a very beautiful and private property. I will be coming back soon.

I completely enjoyed my stay at the Ohia House B&B!! The room was SO relaxing and clean. The bed was luxurious to sleep in. There is a mini fridge, microwave, snorkel mask/snorkel, extra towels, coffee maker/tea available. The room has extra space with a couch and desk. The bathroom was very private and you can tell the owners of the Ohia house have excellent taste. The salt water pool is extremely inviting- I enjoyed swimming laps! The frogs and the rain were so soothing to listen to at night while sleeping. The huge screened in porch area is a great extension of the room where I enjoyed relaxing mosquito free, listening to rain storms, reading and eating AMAZING breakfasts! The fact that there is only one B&B accommodation means that you are spoiled rotten. Cindy knows just what to recommend when planning your day trips. She gave me excellent advice about visiting nearby volcano national park, the town of volcano for lunch and going back for a hike and nighttime viewing. She can direct you to the hot ponds, black sand beach with giant turtles, tide pools and a great surfing site (Rick will probably elaborate on this one!). They can also recommend great restaurants and local secrets! I will definitely be recommending Ohia B&B to all my friends and family. I can't wait for my next trip back to Ohia house.

    Love the Ohia House!!

Cindy and Rick made me feel right at home and welcome, from the second I stepped into the lanai (my favorite part!). They were friendly, yet not overly present – very conscious of boundaries. They asked me questions about myself and made sure things were suitable. Which they were! The room was great! It had a comfortable bed, large closet, cozy couch and attached bathroom with robes! There was a book shelf with local books to read and even games to play (on the lanai) when I was not out and about. Most importantly, this room was CLEAN! I never hesitated to sleep in the bed, never thought about wearing sandals in the shower, or wondered who had been in here before me. It felt like I was at home. The lanai was, like I said, my favorite park. It was HUGE, and full of tables, chairs and informational brochures about fun things to do locally. I spent most of my time at Ohia House on this lanai and wish I had one of my own. It was screened in so even at night when I could hear the frogs; I was not worried that they (or the mosquitoes) would get me. The grounds are beautiful too, and though I walked around, I enjoyed observing them from the comfort of my chair. The breakfasts were incredible. I wrote down what Cindy gave out because I want to try and recreate them for myself later. Without listing complete recipes, they included but were not limited to: fresh fruit, mango, papaya, blueberries, bananas, muffins, yogurt, oatmeal and, Dutch cookies (not sure if this is the right name but it was still good!!). I could have eaten breakfast all day. They were great tasting and a good way to start my day. The friendly chit chat from the beginning of my stay came back to me in the form of GREAT, and on-point to my likings, recommendations. During my trip I saw an active volcano, a lava tube, a coffee plantation, botanical gardens and the local zoo. It was perfect, and a lot of it was free! I even got to see sea turtles at the bay in Hilo. It was incredible.

Just returned from a 2 night 3 day stay at the Ohia house. Although I live on island, this place is always a refreshing peaceful getaway. Private, quiet and serene. The back space with the pool and gardens are the perfect place for spending an afternoon basking and reading all alone with only the sounds of nature. Close enough to the village of Pahoa to go out to a nice place (Kaleo's) for good food and live music (Jazz with Maggie) then return to your room to crash on the most comfy bed listening to the night sounds in the jungle as you drift off. I thoroughly enjoy staying at the Ohia house. Thank you Cindy and Rick.
