The Hamakua Ranch House B & B is located on the beautiful Hamakua Coast, at 3500 ft elevation on the remote, privately owned Kukaiau Ranch. The views of the ocean and Mauna Kea are stunning from anywhere on this estate built in 1900. Day trip anywhere on the island and come home each night to the serenity that only a gorgeous 30 acre property can offer. We want to you to consider this your home while on the island. We have perfect sleeping weather here year around. The Paniolo Cottage is a perfect example of true Hawaii country living. A place where you can truly get away from it all. We are off the grid and a living a green, healthy, self sustainable lifestyle.

The Paniolo Cottage

The Paniolo Cottage is decorated In Hawaiian cowboy décor. It is detached from the main house and our most private unit. There is a King size bed with a cowhide headboard in true Paniolo Style. The bath has a walk in shower. There is a wood-burning stove in the sitting room as well as a Full size futon. The cottage boasts a full kitchen. There is also a 47in flatscreen TV with premium channels. You have your own covered lanai complete with rockers and a gas grill. You will wake in the morning after a wonderful nights sleep on our memory foam mattress and the finest linens available.

The Mermaid Suite

The Mermaid Suite is decorated with Mermaid décor and has a California King size bed. It is located in the main house. The private bath boasts both a walk in shower and a jacuzzi tub with an incredible view. This room has a wall mounted 47 inch flat screen TV with premium sports and cable channels. You will wake in the morning after a wonderful nights sleep on our memory foam mattress and the finest linens available.

The Honu Suite

The Honu Suite is decorated in Honu (Sea Turtle) décor and is located in the main house. It has a solid walnut Queen size bed. The private bath has a walk in shower. This room also has a 47inch wall mounted flat screen TV with premium cable and sports channels. Private lanai with ocean view. This unit sleeps 2. You will wake in the morning after a wonderful nights sleep on our memory foam mattress and the finest linens available.

The Ohia Loft

The Ohia Loft is detached from the main house and located upstairs in the carriage house. It has a full kitchen. This is our newest, largest (1200 sf) and most private unit. Large ohia posts from the property support the high open beam ceiling. This large open room has both a King and Queen bed with high quality mattresses and the finest linens available. The is a large couch, 55" flat screen TV, and an amazing ocean view. There is also a gas stove, and private bath w/walk in shower. This unit sleeps up to four guests.

Directions to property:

Follow signs towards Honokaa on Hwy 19. The turn is between Mile Marker 34 and 35 on Highway 19. Turn mauka (towards the mountain) marked only by a yellow intersection sign that says 45 mph. Once you turn, you will see a sign for Kukaiau Ranch. Follow this road 4.5 miles to the fork in the road, bear LEFT, towards Umikoa Village. Note: you will pass thru a vacant guard shack about 3 miles up the mountain - keep going. There is wild life thru here (horses, cows, pigs, turkeys) - please drive carefully as this road narrows to one lane in several areas. Pass thru stone entrance for Umikoa Village. We are the first driveway on the right with stone pillars and our sign at the entrance. **Once you turn off the highway, the drive up the mountain takes 15 - 20 minutes. About the innkeepers

About the owner: Tim and Terri Dolan have been married 26 years and are living their dream. Tim spent 20 years in the Marine Corps flying anything they would give him the keys to.. They love to travel, exercise, drink red wine, garden, read, and work on the ranch. Tim also paddles with a 6 man outrigger team. Terri would like to grow enough food and meat on the ranch to become self sustainable.
