Ka Hale La`i means "House of Peacefulness" in Hawaiian, and we strive to impart that experience to guests. There are two bedrooms, each with a queen size bed, private bath with shower, A/C, & TV. WiFi & fax available. The main bedroom has sliding glass doors opening onto a covered lanai area by the pool, and a bathroom with a sunken shower. The second bedroom is quite similar, just a bit smaller, making it a great booking for a family or for two couples traveling together. We enjoy surprsing our guests with a different and bountiful breakfast each morning. Our home is about 2 miles from Kailua Beach, one of the safest and most beautiful beaches in the entire state. Beach towels, chairs, snorkel equipment and a cooler are yours for the asking. Laundry facilities available. You are welcome to use the pool. DO NOT arrive at my doorstep without prior reservations. I do not take walk-ins. And due to the owners extreme allergies to all smoking materials, smokers will not be admitted. IF YOU BOOK THIS PROPERTY AND YOU ARE A SMOKER, YOUR BOOKING WILL BE CANCELLED AND YOU WILL HAVE TO GO ELSEWHERE.

Betty cared for us very well, and welcomed us into her home. She made the best breakfasts we have had in a long time! She really is a good cook. We were there four days, and the setting was perfect for us: we wanted to have a good rest before returning to a demanding job serving at an orphanage in the Philippines. We rested day one and day four. Day two we visited Pearl Harbor - a great experience, and had lunch with an old friend. Day three we went snorkeling in Hanauma Bay. Wow! What a rewarding experience! Betty was great giving us directions to go anywhere. We were not right on the beach, but it was an easy 3 minute drive away and we made good use of the beach. We were on the quiet end of Kailua Beach. Lots of good, clean, beautiful Hawaiian ocean and a huge spread of un-cluttered white sand beach. We had the bigger room and the size was just right for us as a couple. We hope others enjoy it as much as we did! We would definitely consider going back again if the opportunity arises.

Can't say enough about Betty and her customer service. As we told Betty, we would do this again in a heartbeat! Location best on Oahu for sure! We have done it all in Honolulu over the past 10+ years. There is a place to relax from the hub--of noisy Honolulu! Try it you will like it! Schulers/Gustins (we rented both rooms).
4.6 out of 5An outstanding value in a relaxing part of Oahu

My wife and I stayed at Ka Hale La'i in October of 2010. We have stayed at many B&Bs over the years, especially in Hawaii to avoid astronomical hotel rates. We found Ka Hale La'i to be a really nice and relaxing location, and by far the best value. It had a picturesque built-in pool in a back yard with lots of privacy. Betty was a knowledgeable and friendly host and made our visit special. For the price we were expecting some spartan accomodations but it was the equal of most other B&Bs we have stayed at. The decor is a bit retro (think Magnum, PI). There are virtually no hotels in this part of Oahu, and Kailua is the exact opposite of hectic Waikiki, perfect for relaxing. Kailua Bay beach is the epitome of a island getaway. If you are up for it, rent a sea kayak at the south end of the bay and paddle 2 miles to the Mokes for a picnic. We plan to come back!
