We think of our guests as friends we haven't met yet. Your comfort is our priority. Making the most of your travel budget is a close second. We are looking forward to sharing our little place in paradise with you.Relax in the back yard, hang out in the gazebo, grill up some island fish (or whatever) on the BBQ. Bird watch. You may see apapanes, cardinals, minah birds, egrets and more. Enjoy the lush tropical foliage. We have varieties of hibiscus, ginger, gardenias, bougainvilleas, palms to name a few. You can even pick your own coconut.
Our open air kitchen has everything you need to prepare anything from toast to a full on gourmet meal. Well, except the food and the chef. Ask us about our fresh organically grown herbs. Sweet basil, rosemary, oregano....all from the back yard.Enjoy outdoor dining, lit with solar lights for wonderful evening ambiance. Our gazebo and barbecue area are great for gatherings or just hanging out, just steps from your back door.
Between 9,000 and 13,000 feet, snow caps Mauna Kea as it towers above Hilo in this view across Hilo Bay. A surfer is catching this winter swell. The picture was taken while standing on what locals call Secret Beach - 3 minute's easy walking from the cottage. This Hawaiian Hawks-bill turtle rubs its tummy on the rocks. The turtle is one of an ohana (family) of four that lives at Secret Beach. You may see them playing in the surf. Winter also brings the humpback whales in as close as 100 yards to shore. Whale season is December to February.
Meet Miss E and Max. If you like dogs, you'll love them. If you don't, they may change your mind. They are calm, gentle, and REALLY silky to pet. One of the many stress-relievers we share when asked.Marvel at the double rainbows' beauty - as seen from the cottage's front yard.
Smell the heavenly vanilla like fragrance of this orchid, one of over 20 different varieties around the grounds.Beginner gardeners, we are constantly amazed at what the aina (land) shares with us.
Lush tropical landscaping presents many vibrant colors and scents to please your senses.Hula Girl hibiscus and tiare (Tahitian gardenia) among the many varieties of tropical foliage you will find on the grounds.
Pick your own coconut. Weave a lauhala mat. Experience the real Hawai`i.Pick from several different varieties of bananas growing throughout the property. We have mature avocado, mango, fig, papaya, giant white guava, and orange trees that constantly bless us with their fruitful offerings.
