At the End of the Road Bed & Breakfast

  • Inn Details

Aloha, We are located at the end of Haunani Road, thus our name. We built our home on 6.5 acres of rainforest pasture land in 1989,just a baby compared to the historic homes here in the village; but it has settled into it`s own niche since then. We are sure the peace and tranquility that we enjoy will be yours too. If it`s activity you desire, the nearby Hawai`i Volcanoes National Park offers opportunities for hiking, biking, and exploring. There is also the Volcano Art Gallery and the Jaggar Museum to visit. There are great nearby restaurants from which you can choose. In the morning we serve a light continental breakfast,no eggs and bacon here but lots of seconds if you desire. We are Christian owned and operated. Hele mai, come. ****Please call Innkeeper at least 24 hours before check in if you plan to arrive after 6:00 p.m! Thank you!!****

From Hilo: As you exit the Hilo airport, the first large intersection that you'll come to is Highway 11. Turn left at the light. As you travel away from Hilo, south, on the Highway 11, look for the 26 mile marker (it will take you approximately 35 minutes). Then watch for a large sign on the right side of the highway that says Haunani Road. Turn right off of Highway 11, on to Haunani Road. From that point, stay on Haunani Road. It is approximately 1.7 miles from the highway. At the end of the road to the right, you will see our B & B sign and our 250 ft driveway. The home is white with a green metal roof, and is sitting in the middle of a pasture. Directions from Kona to Volcano South Point route: As you drive away from Kona stay on Hwy 11 going south. It will take through towns like Captain Cook and Kealakekua. The southern most town is named Na'alehu. About an hour after Na'alehu, you'll enter the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park property (they'll be a sign on the right side of the road). Shortly after that, you'll drive past the National Park entrance (it will be on the right). Look for the 27 mile marker. After you pass that sign, look for a street intersection marker with a small yellow sign that says Haunani Road. The sign will be on the right side of the road. After the 27 mile marker, turn left off of Highway 11 on to Haunani Road. From that point, stay on Haunani Road (it has sections where it becomes one lane) for approximately 1.7 miles. The road will lead off to the right into our 250 ft driveway. The house has a green metal roof, and is sitting in the middle of a pasture.

We enjoyed our stay. The room was very comfortable. We only were there for a very short time (one night, came in late, left early), but we would have been happy to stay there for a longer time, too.

End of the Road B&B is a nice, old-fashioned place to stay (with rules!). The room was cozy, clean and comfy. Breakfast was simple and filling. Ray and Lani were very friendly and personable. We would go again.

Best B&B we've ever stayed in!

This B&B has 2 rooms (both with their own bathroom facilities) so you really receive super service. The home and bedrooms are squeaky clean. Ray and Lani are gracious and a plathora of Information. They even have free wifi!

A couple days before the day I was to check in at the B&B I got a call from the host that he and his wife had to be away for important business of some kind. At first this left a bit of a sinking feeling in my gut as I feared what that might mean (I was on my honeymoon and I wanted nothing to spoil the trip!). He left instructions for me and made arrangements with his very friendly neighbor to take care of breakfast for my wife and I. In the end, I was very happy with the experience. My wife didn't like that there were no curtains for the window in the bathroom. Also, the hosts had dogs (left at the neighbor's, so they were in no way in our way) so there was a slight...dog smell - but nothing that was overly distracting unless you are really not used to being in a house with animals. Otherwise, everything was very clean and tidy. The location was great if you are there to check out the volcano park. I would stay there again. NOTE: This was way back in the end of March/beginning of April. It's taken me a while to post.

Fantastic stay at the End of the Road B and B. Just wish we would have stayed for five nights instead of two. So much to do in the area. Two miles from the park entrance! Ray is a pleasure to talk with and kept the breakfast tea and breads coming each morning. Comfortable and very clean bedroom. Quiet. Recommended!!
