J & B's Haven Bed & Breakfast

We were quite surprised and pleased at the service, specifically the breakfasts served, the cleanliness of the bedroom itself and the bathroom(s). Joan and Barbara were very welcoming and so friendly. They offered directions to wherever we wanted to go and I felt that I had known them my whole life. We would go back in a minute!

My wife and I went to Honolulu to visit family in Hawai Kai and stayed for 8 days at J & B's Haven B & B. We will certainly stay there again. Barbara and Joan could not have done more to make our stay comfortable, and everything about this operation is first rate. We took the larger of the two rooms, which is very commodious, with king size bed, plenty of closet space, and a very adequate bathroom. There is an AC in the room, but we didn't need it for our December visit. The breakfasts are wonderful -- all the fresh fruit you can eat, several varieties of cheese, a choice of jams, cereal and more. Barbara and Joan are very attentive and go out of their way to make sure their guests are satisfied, as we certainly were. Joe Steinfield

Joan and Barbara were great hostesses! The rates are very reasonable, the location and room excellent, the shower hot every time! A very traditional bed and breakfast where you sit for breakfast with your hostesses and other guests at 8:00 sharp (arrangements can be made for earlier breakfasts). My wife and I very much enjoyed the quiet setting and exceptional hospitality for our first visit to the islands.

We stayed for an 8-day week summer of 2010. It was very nice. Quiet, comfortable and homey. If you are into the entire B&B experience, this is the way to go! For this much at this price, the value was an absolute no brainer. Nicely located away from the craziness that is Honolulu... the only downside? Traffic to get to this area can be heavy in the early morning or late afternoon. This is the suburbs! Oh, and the doggies are adorable. ;)

I had a really nice stay. The room was big and had everything that I needed. Could even sit outside. Joan and Barbara were really nice and helpfull. The two dogs were so qute. The location of the house was in a quite area, but not far away from big roads, so it was easy to get around. The breakfast was the best town. Fresh fruit (some from their own garden), cereal, bread, English breakfast items, exotic juices and much more. Bed and Brunch would be a better name for J & B's Haven :-)

Since 2001 I have stayed now nine times together with Barbara and Joan and their lovely dogs Koko and Muffin in their Bed and Breakfast. In the meantime it has become more than only a Bed and Breakfast, after an absence of one or two years arriving there is a bit like coming home. I enjoy their warm friendliness, the so cute Koki and well behavioured Muffin and, by the way, also the so comfortable bed in the Queens Room. Breakfast is so delicious with bagels, toast, muffins, scrambled eggs and sausages, butter, jam, marmalade, cereal and muesli, bananas, melons, papayas, pineapples, plums and juice. It is always an outstanding vacation at your home! See you again!

Joan and Barbara know how to treat their guests to a great stay. From the moment we arrived to the waning moments of our early morning departure, we thoroughly enjoyed our four day stay. Barbara gave us helpful advice on the local areas of interest and the best times to visit them. The location of J & B's Haven was ideal for navigating around the island. We surely enjoyed the cool breeze that trailed through our room. Each morning we had a colorful breakfast selection which carried us through the day. We highly recommend this B&B for Oahu visitors! Thanks for a great time.

Truly enjoyed our stay with Joan and Barbara, mother and daughter. Two very proper British ladies, who have gone Hawaiian and who know how to make a home feel warm and comfortable. My wife loved the sheets. I loved the breakfast. Very proper place settings with a large variety of fresh fruit making for a very colorful table. Easy to find and away from the traffic and clutter of Honolulu. Very close to beautiful beaches on Oahu's eastern shore.

We enjoyed our stay at the house of the two sympathetic ladies and their two dogs.

We stayed with Joan and Barbara for two nights in their king room. The room was spacious, clean and very comfortable. Joan and Barbara were wonderful, warm and friendly hosts. They were able to give us good advice to make the most of our time on Oahu. And their two dogs were very well behaved and added to our stay. We would highly recommend this B & B.

My wife and I had a wonderful stay at J & B's Haven Bed & Breakfast! We found Wakiki a bit stressful with the prices being so high and so much going on. J & B's was far enough away from everything to be relaxing but close enough so that we didn't miss out on anything.

Away from the hustle/bustle of Waikiki, we loved the Hawaii Kai neighborhood of this lovely B&B. We stayed in the king room in Joan's and Barbara's comfortable home. The large bedroom had a patio door that opened onto a deck so we could enjoy the tropical breezes. In addition to the large bedroom, there was an adjoining dressing room and bathroom. The fridge and microwave let us make late night snacks and the A/C kept us cool in the warmer parts of the day/night. Breakfast was a feast of fresh tropical fruit and cheeses. And what fun it was to listen to Barbara (daughter) and Joan (mum) banter...a kindly English sit-com! Two dear doggies, with the best manners, waited for Joan's single handclap to signal, at the end of breakfast, that it was okay for them to get out of their beds. We loved our stay and highly recommend their beautiful home to those looking for an escape from the congestion of Oahu.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at J&B's Haven in Honolulu. We wanted a quiet place away from downtown to stay and this is what we got. The house is in a quiet residential neighborhood fairly close to the main highway east of Honolulu, but far enough away to not hear it. The guest rooms are off the living room and dining room of the home; there are separate living room areas for guests and for the homeowners but they are together in one large room. When Joan was home when we returned, it was like coming home and telling Mom about our day, but not in an intrusive way. She even provided a wooden clothes dryer to dry our things after we were drenched in a sudden cloudburst. The breakfasts were superb -- cereals, breads, cheese and fruits, just what we would have chosen. We were in the queen room, which was a little smaller than we would have liked, but the private bathroom was fairly large with the toilet and sink in a separate room from the shower and another sink. A couple of the lights above the sink were burned out. We have fond memories of our stay at J&B's Haven and would stay there again if we return to Oahu.

We felt completely comfortable and a little pampered at this homey home in Hawaii Kai. Close to lots of wonderful things to see. Very gracious. Good dogs!

We have stayed here several times and have enjoyed our stay each time. The rooms are very clean and the breakfast they provide is delicious.

After multiple stays in Waikiki beach, we finally found a great place to stay in Honolulu. Joan and Barbara have created a wonderful experience for those who are interested in getting away from the hustle and bustle of the Waikiki beach area. They provide items necessary for trips to the beach, as well as information on where to dine and what to see while on Oahu. They are fun to visit with and serve a wonderful and healthy breakfast each morning. The rooms are well appointed and private. They have made each of our visits to their home enjoyable.

Joan and Barbara were very accomodating and helpful . The property is well-kept, scenic, and quiet. The rooms are private, clean, and comfortable. We really enjoyed breakfast each morning and the personal attention. Joan and Barbara were excellent hostesses. They made arrangements for us to get into our rooms despite holiday plans on Christmas Day, gave excellent advice on travel routes and times for local tourist attractions, and even helped us find a place to eat during the recent island-wide power outage. Thank you Joan and Barbara for a wonderful vacation! We highly recommend this b & b, especially to those looking for a quiet get-away.

The B&B was the superior choice for staying in Honolulu. The location was just what we wanted. being away from traffic was also excellent. Also, Barbara was always full of great suggestions, which added to our fun!

We enjoyed our stay very much, and would stay again if we get the chance to come back.

We really felt home away from home in this beautiful place. The B&B is a very cosy retreat within short driving distance to Waikiki and Honolulu. We truly enjoyed our stay and got very helpful advice from the two charming ladies.

My husbond and I stayed at J & B's haven from 1.-6. oktober 2008 on our honeymoon. It was the first time we stayed at a B&B, so we do not have anything to compare with, but it was as we expected. They have 2 rooms and the one we stayed in looked just as in the picture. Breakfast was served at 8 am every morning, where all guest and owners eat together. There were always fresh fruit, bread, muffin and the, coffee or juice. Breakfast was more then we had expeceted. Joan and Barbara are very friendly and helpfull. They could help with many things about the island - what to see and where to eat. They have to dogs, but we didn't hear them at all.

Joan "Mum" and Barbara are wonderful as B&B hosts! Their pets, KoKo and Muffin, were "in residence" but you would never have known it. The assortment of fruits (especially the pineapple/papaya), cereals, juices, and all the rest were so invitingly presented on the table. You didn't go away hungry....that's for sure! THANKS for our stay!

Barbara & Joan were wonderful. Breakfast was outstanding.

Staying in Hawaii Kai with Joan and Barbara made our honeymoon perfect. Coco and Muffin were a joy to play with in the morning. (Their two well behaved dogs) I highly recommend this quaint get away with these wonderful English women.
