Areca Palms Estate Bed and Breakfast

Beautiful room & fantastic breakfasts. Friendly owners are a good source of information on what to do in the area.

We spent 5 wonderful days at this beautiful and peaceful home. Janice was a friendly and very informative hostess (her husband Steve was away during our stay). Her breakfasts were truly a delight, featuring fresh island fruits, homemade breads and muffins, homemade jellies and syrups, the setting is beautiful and the atmosphere is very friendly. Close to Kailua, but away from the bustle. Highly recommended!

Everything was great about Areca Palms -- lovely location surrounded by tropical plants, charming home, recommendations on activities and even snorkeling and beach equipment to borrow. The breakfasts were the highlight -- fresh fruit from the grounds and many homemade treats, including assorted breads, banana jam and guava syrup. Janice was a wonderful, informative and helpful host (Steve was out of town during our visit). We would definitely stay here again.

I do not believe we could have been more satisfied with our stay at Areca Palms. Our large extended family group of eight occupied every one of the beautiful and well kept rooms. Janice & Steve were most hospitable. Janice even brought home a cake for our father's (88th) birthday on our first night. After reading all of the reviews, it would appear redundant to say, you could not find a better place to stay while on your Hawaiian vacation! Thank you Janice & Steve for a pleasurable stay! We stayed for 4 nights at Janice and Steve's B&B, - met great hospitality and helpfulnes. The place is nice and quiet, - the breakfast was every day extremely nice, consisting of fresh local fruits, homemade cake and juice - and then it looked really beautiful. It was possible to borrow all equipment needed for a beach/snorkle-trip - very nice. We highly recommend this B&B.

Great week, friendly hospitality, beautiful house & garden, enjoyed jacuzzi in the evening, it was like visiting friends.

My wife and I recently stayed at the Areca Palms Estate B&B in Captain Cook, HI, for three nights and had a wonderful experience there. The "Rose Room" was spacious and comfortable, the owners very helpful and friendly, and the breakfasts were outstanding. We recommend it highly!

My husband, two year old daughter, and I stayed here in early december, 2011. We had been on the east side of the big island for a few days and needed a break from rain and mosquitos. I found this place on line and it was awesome. I highly recommend it to everyone. The innkeepers, Steve and Janice, were helpful, but not intrusive. Their grounds are spacious and well-maintained. We slept 10 hours a night for the 3 nights we were there. The breakfast was excellent - sweet bread, fruit, eggs, coffee, etc. I want the recipe for the ironman muffins. They have beach accessories to borrow. They even watched our child so we could go kayaking to the captain cook monument and snorkel with dolphins. That is beyond exceptional service. Janice even gave our daughter a manicure. Bottom line is, this place is terrific.

It was just great to stay with Janice and Steve, thanks a lot! Breakfast was a dream...so delicious! The room was pretty, clean and really comfortable! We had very interesting discussions during breakfast and got a lot of information about Hawaii and places to go. Best regards, the Swiss girls

Besides the best breakfasts on the island, of any bed and breakfast that we stayed at, this B and B was extremely clean and the owners very hospitable. We were always pleasantly surprised to have our room tided up so nicely each day. Plus, the hosts, Janice and Steve, were very helpful is giving suggestions of what to do around Captain Hook. The Rose Room that we stayed in was very roomy and a great find for the four nights that we stayed. This B and B would be one that my husband and I would not only recommend, but hope to come back to sometime in the future.

I haven't been to Hawaii in years and this was a special occasion that was made even more special staying at the Areca Palms. The grounds are beautiful, rooms very comfortable and inviting and the food was fabulous! Would definitely stay here again.

We stayed at the Areca Palms as our first destination-ever0 in Hawaii. We couldn't have been more pleased. The breakfasts were terrific-food and information wise. Steve and Janice gave lots of good tips about what to see, where to go, where to eat, etc. without being pushy. We will definitely return when we are blessed to get to travel to HI again!

Four of us stayed at Areca Palms for a long weekend this past May. We were the only guests while we were there, and Janice and her home are wonderful. I'm a foodie by obsession and her food was better than I had hoped - from homemade english muffins to fruit from her own backyard. This is a really well kept, beautiful place to stay. It is run by a lovely couple, Janice and Steve who are very helpful with suggestions for "things to do" and Janice cooks a delicious breakfast every morning. They also supplied us with snorkel gear and boogie boards. We feel lucky to have found this place. I hope to revisit someday!

My sister and I stayed at Areca Palms for three nights and absolutely loved it -- I can't think of anything I'd change. Janice and Steve are exceptional hosts -- lots of great advice about local sites and things to see/do. The breakfasts are sensational; the setting, lovely. Steve and Janice go out of their way for their guests. For example, when Janice heard that we planned an early start (before th 8:00 a.m. breakfast), she made us two fine "take along" breakfast boxes. When Steve heard that we were heading to Volcano, he suggested coming back across the island on one of the high mountains, to see the night time sky above the clouds -- one of the highlights of our Hawaii trip which we wouldn't have thought to do without his suggestion. Steve called to make snorkeling reservations for us; Janice recommended a restaurant in which we had our best Hawaiian dinner. What more could a B&B guest ask!
