Four of us ( a couple, sister and mother) shared two rooms for a week here. Both rooms were beautiful and perfectly equipped, although our room (Mata Ortiz) was especially nice because of the second floor location which allowed in a breeze , and for its luxurious walk in shower. You cannot go wrong with any of them though. The b&b is accessed down a narrow light filled alley which is well known to taxi drivers because of its size (they park at the end). It seems curious at first but once you begin to explore the up and down of cobblestone streets in SMA, we looked forward to our return to our little oasis. The owners Antonieta and Francisco could not be more welcoming upon our arrival and each morning while they served a delicious breakfast. In the afternoons you are on your own with an honor bar of beer, wine, snacks and Popsicles. The b&b has many nooks to relax in and you may well be tempted to linger for hours. It's about a 20 minute walk downhill to the main square, passing artisans' alley on the way. You cannot go wrong choosing to stay here and it provided such a lovely background for our trip.

The photos of the individual rooms do not do justice to outstanding thought and care of their design. I would recommend this B&B to whomever wants to truly enjoy the whole San Miguel De Allende experience.

We really got lucky in finding this gem. The rooms were immaculate, beautifully decorated and very comfortable. The breakfasts were delicious, made to order and healthy. Francisco and Antonieta were gracious, helpful and fluent in Spanish and English (and possibly other languages?).

My family and I were thrilled with this Bed and Breakfast. The rooms and courtyards are even prettier than the photos show. They were immaculately clean. The breakfasts were fresh, delicious and they were willing to adapt to suit our needs (no bread, etc.). The only thing that may be important to know is that you must be able to walk a little to get there because the entrance is down an alley but it's worth it!!!

This B&B is truly a gem. Its within walking distance from town and has fine views from the terraces. The quality of the rooms is exceptional and they are all unique. The proprietors, Antonieta and Francisco are friendly and well organized and provided helpful guidance regarding local trips and restaurant recommendations. Ute and Brendan.

My husband and I had a wonderful stay here. Antonieta and Francisco are lovely hosts and very informative about places to visit and local restaurants. Walking up and down the hill into the town center was rough the first day but we got use to maneuvering the uneven cobble stone streets by the third day.

We visited here two years ago and would not think of staying anywhere else in this lovely town. It is such a treat at the end of a busy day to climb up the street and relax in the gorgeous courtyard garden or take in the setting sun from the roof tops. This really is a spectacular place. Breakfast is delicious and served so beautifully- it is just the best! You will not be disappointed!

This is a not-to-be missed experience in San Miguel. In a City of great experiences and hidden treasures, Antigua Capilla is among the best of them. The accommodations are vintage colonial, the food and service exemplary, and the location is prefect for exploring all that San Miguel has to offer. To top it off, proprietors Francisco and Antonieta are a delight; helpful and knowledgeable about all things San Miguel. Rob and MeiLan, SF, CA

The perfect place to stay in San Miguel de Allende. Every detail is thoughtful and top notch. Excellent bed with ultra fine bedding, high end bath amenities to enjoy in the oversized shower. Beautiful tile work. Delicious breakfast starting with generous bowl of fruit, followed by a different hot entree each morning. Caring innkeepers with a wealth of information about the city.

First of all, this place is more beautiful in person than it appears in pictures and that is rare for any establishment. It was extremely clean, comfortable, and also delightful smelling! Yes that is right, I found San Miguel in general to be a wonderful smelling place. Scents seem to be important here... Anyway, there are two items of note for me. One, I follow a strict diet that Antonieta and Francisco had no problem in accommodating. The breakfasts were divine and my necessary adjustments made them no less so. The sauces are made fresh in-house and the variety was wonderful. Second, I got sick while I was there. I had a bad cold which aggravated my asthma and one day it was so bad that I had to stay in my room. But, my room was so beautiful that it really didn't matter to me because I still felt like I was in Mexico. More important, the owners were caring and kind. Antonieta gave me an electric water kettle so that I didn't have to keep going downstairs for tea and Francisco gave me sugar free cough drops (this may have been providence because no sugar is allowed in my diet) to keep me from coughing all day. I especially appreciated these gestures because I was traveling alone. And since I was traveling alone, I also really appreciated how friendly Antonieta was and we had little chats that I enjoyed in the mornings while I ate breakfast. Also, they arranged for a private guide to drive me to Guanajuato and he also acted as a museum docent and translator, stopped anywhere I wanted so that I could take pictures, and he carried my bags when I went shopping. Upon returning to San Miguel de Allende, I would never consider staying anywhere else but Antigua Capilla B&B and would highly recommend it to anyone. (My stay was five days, six nights long and I was in the Santa Clara del Cobre room.)

The view fron the terrace was outstabding. Our room Mata Ortiz great for couples and the artesanal beer made by the owner Francisco you must try that! Thanks to Antonieta and Francisco your B&B was an excelent experience we will return!

Our second time this year! From the moment we arrive to this beautiful, immaculately clean home, we experience a sense of peace and well being that cannot be compared to a stay in a hotel. The hosts are always around and together with the staff they do everything to welcome their guests, starting with the yummiest breakfast ever!! Look for direct booking with them for great deals.

We had a great time, enjoying the B&B as if it was own home, privacy, yet service! Very nicely appointed and unique! Enjoyed our time immensely there!

It was our first visit to San miguel and we couldn't T have been happier with our choice of B&B. we were so comfortable in the beautifully appointed surroundings. our hosts were gracious and staff was most helpful and attentive. breakfasts were great. best view in town. Hope to return. FYI we are an older couple who managed the walk to town just fine.

We love San Miguel de Allende and this was our second visit. Staying at Antigua Capilla this time around truly made our vacation special. We were greeted by one of the owners who made us feel very welcome! The B&B is sooo beautiful and the rooftop terrace breathtaking! However, I totally adore our room. The bed was amazing!! Great bathroom too. But the warm smiles of the staff and owners, the level of service and the outstanding breakfasts made our stay at Antigua Capilla so very special!! Cannot wait until our next visit!! You should try it too....

The only negative thing about Antigua Capilla is having to leave! The place is beautiful and decorated with beautiful furniture and local art. Every detail has been carefully arranged to provide an experience with all the luxury and modern ammenities that descriminating travelers welcome. Last but not least, they serve the yummiest breakfast!!

My wife and I stayed at Antigua Capilla for 3 nights in January and loved it. The owners did an incredible job designing this fairly new B&B around an old chapel. Our room was well laid out, comfortable, and the whole place was beautiful. Add to that great breakfasts, location, and owners who made sure that all of our needs were taken care of. We highly recommend.
5 on January 18, 2015
The hosts built a gorgeous, brand-new building in a traditional style around a small colonial chapel, which sits in a beautiful courtyard. The rooms are themed, comfortable, elegant. The roof garden is huge and has a marvelous view of San Miguel. Because it's about a 10-15 minute walk from the Jardin, the B&B is very quiet and peaceful. The breakfasts are terrific, and the hosts are very friendly and knowledgeable. A peak B&B experience!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Our room was extremely comfortable and beautifully appointed. In fact, the entire property is idyllic. All of the common areas are decorated with exquisite detail. The roof top deck is another plus offering a great view of beautiful San Miguel de Allende. To top it off Antonieta and Francisco are truly wonderful people who will make you feel at home and they will provide you with recommendations and information to help you make the most of your visit to San Miguel.

A truly wonderful five nights of being spoiled with everything we could ask for provided - the best view in town, incredible tasty and unique breakfasts to look forward to each day, friendly and helpful property managers, and all in beautiful San Miguel Allende. The rooms were beautifully decorated and luxurious with big beds and fluffy comforters, handmade domed ceilings and a walk in shower right out of Architectural Digest! Antonieta and Francisco made sure everything was handled from our pick up at the airport to their personal recommendations and rankings of the best restaurants in town. And if you like micro beers, their own Dos Aves is the best around. We could not be happier with the whole experience and will be back! :)

Antiqua Capilla is an amazing B&B. The setting is splendid and the rooms are spacious and decorated very nicely. All details have been considered. There are several sitting areas throughout as well as the rooftop terrace which has amazing views of San Miguel. A photo from the rooftop at sunset is a must. The owners Francisco & Antonieta are very helpful as are their staff. Breakfast were excellent. There was coffee and tea available all day as well as other snack and beverages for purchase. Antonieta was very helpful with things to do and see in San Miguel as well as side trips which she will book for you. This was our first trip to San Miguel and the B&B added to our experience.

Anitigua Capilla is a wonderful place, a combination of a B&B and a five-star luxury hotel. It is only 8 guest rooms (each of which has its own exterior entrance off of a magnificent central courtyard), and the couple who own and run the place know when to be helpful and when to leave you alone. My room and bath were about as nice as any I've ever stayed in, I've stayed in some pretty great places. A delicious breakfast is included and served each morning until 10:30 a.m. in a very inviting dining area shared with the other guests. Capilla Antigua is about 7 blocks uphill from the center of town, on a private little lane - I loved the walk and the hotel's "remove" from the hustle and bustle of town, and the somewhat vigorous exercise it afforded on my walk back to the hotel from town. Others might prefer to walk down the hill into town (it takes about 7 minutes) and take a cab back up the hill - it's all of about $2.25 for the ride at the current dollar/peso exchange rate. Kudos to this fine establishment.

This is an absolutely beautiful place to stay. Our room was spacious, beautifully decorated and absolutely spotless. Antigua Capilla is a short walk to the centre of SMA and the roof top terrace provides the most amazing views. We made use of the terrace at sun down to capture the spectacular sunsets. We were hosted by Sheny who made us feel completely at home and provided useful tips for our stay in SMA and our future travels. Every detail was attended to and Sheny went above what could have been expected to make our stay so enjoyable. The breakfasts were delicious and there was a range of snacks and drinks available to be paid for through an honour system which was a nice inclusion. We would absolutely recommend a stay at Antigua Capilla for anyone visiting San Miguel - it is the place to stay.

Francisco & Antonieta and their Staff aim to please and know how to deliver! We had an incredible experience throughout our stay. San Miguel de Allende is a jovial place with its charming sounds. Both my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the Mata Ortiz room from its design, decor, and comfort. I spent considerable time in Antigua Capilla enjoying the courtyard, the dining room, and the spectacular views from the terrace. You can tell that every square foot of Antigua Capilla was given considerable thought because the architecture and decor is one of a kind. Francisco and Antonieta are truly amazing, genuine, and delightful people. Their customer service is on a different stratosphere and they could really write a book on hospitality management because they aim to meet and exceed your expectations. They were very accomadating and greeted us at breakast each day, and made themselves available to answer any of our questions. They were so personable but also gave us our space. We felt like home away from home. My wife and I have travelled to many places and stayed in many hotels but this is as good as it gets! We feel this beautiful place is a true gem that will keep us wanting to come back to enjoy again.

We just got back from Antigua Capilla Bed and Breakfast.....what a wonderful experience. Antonieta and her staff were amazing. From the time I booked till we left she could not have been more helpful. Every detail was looked after. The breakfast was amazing and kept us going all day. The rooms were immaculate and no detail was left out. Thanks Antonieta for a great stay.

We are a gay couple and had a wonderful overnight stay. Antonienta and the staff were amazingly helpful. It was last minute and Francisco was able to accommodate us. The room was gorgeous. the roof top view of the city atop of the mountains took you breath away...we have hundreds of pictures on the roof top and the Capilla. Thank you for making this overnight getaway so special for us.

This was our first visit to San Miquel de Allende. We chose Antiqua Capilla based on the reviews and the location, and we couldn't have been happier. The Inn is beautiful and clean; we were able to choose the room we wanted from their website. The atmosphere of Antiqua Capilla is enchanting and the hospitality was wonderful. We loved the Guerro Room because of the patio right outside with a spectacular view of the city. Having that great view requires a bit of a hike up the hill but well worth it (an easy taxi ride up if you prefer.) Every thing one could possibly need was provided and Antonieta was so helpful in making arrangements for us. We absolutely loved our stay here and would definitely come back.

Antonieta and Francisco have created a magical little piece of heaven at Antigua Capilla Bed & Breakast. The Inn- was immaculate; the colors, amenities and decor were very elegant Spanish colonial style. Antonieta is a great hostess- providing very friendly, highly attentive service to make your stay at Antigua Capilla, and in San Miguel de Allende, the most comfortable and enjoyable visit ever. The food- Presentation of fresh fruit was a perfect start to the delicious Mexican breakfast served (different dish) each morning. We told all our friends about this place. We all plan to come back in 2010.

I have been in the travel industry for over 20 years. When I travel I make it a point to snoop all around hotels, find things wrong - it usually isn't difficult. Well, I could not find ONE thing that was wrong with this amazing B&B. The owners have thought of everything that you could possibly need. Often in B&B's you don't get all the 'perks" of a luxury hotel...not at Antigua Capilla. The breakfast was fantastic, cooked fresh and different each morning. The rooms were perfect - each one representing a different art of Mexico. The bathrooms were all handmade tile with amazing showers/tubs. The electronics were top of the line with movies, flat screen tvs, wireless internet, even a player for my IPOD. The owner, Maria Antonieta, is a huge part of why this is such a wonderful place to stay. She is welcoming and thoughtful and experienced in this business. This was not just a whim for her and her husband - they owned a B&B in San Francisco prior to building this beautiful "home" in San Miguel. I would recommend this to every one of my clients and I know they would thank me!

Just returned form San Miguel staying at the new Antigua Capilla B&B. This is a very nice B&B lcoated in a typical and safe neigborhood within a short 10 min walk down a hill into the center of town and a cheap ($2 US) taxi ride up the hill after a day of shopping! Inn-keepers and staff are outstanding - very gracious and service oriented. Food is excellent. Rooms are very clean and well appointed. Beds are heavenly1 The view from the rooftop terrace overlooking city at night is breath-taking and great for viewing fireworks.

We had the honour of being the first guests at the Antigua Capilla Bed and Breakfast. The pictures and description on the website do not portray how truly beautiful this bed and breakfast really is. This is a new home which has been lovingly built by the owners, Antonieta and Francisco. The guest rooms are located upstairs around a central courtyard. The courtyard has a beautiful fountain and a small restored chapel. Each room has been individually decorated with unique handicrafts from different regions in Mexico. We stayed in the Santa Clara del Cobre room which had wonderful copper pots decorating the walls. The bathroom had an incredible walk-in shower and was tiled with colourful tiles from nearby Dolores Hidalgo. Our bed was extremely comfortable with crisp white linens - we even had flowers by our bed and in our bathroom! The kitchen and living area are located away from the guest rooms and again, are beautiful decorated with traditional Mexican artifacts. We started each day with an incredible breakfast - there was so much food that we did not have to eat until dinner each evening. The staff went out of their way to please us. You can enjoy wonderful views of the Parroquia from the rooftop terrace. It is a short walk downhill on a cobbled street to the main historical area (about 5 - 10minutes). If you don’t feel like walking back up, taxis were plentiful and cost $2.50! Finally, I cannot describe how much the owners did to make our stay enjoyable. They gave us excellent recommendations on where to have dinner and also arranged for us to have a guided day tour of nearby Guanajuato and Dolores Hidalgo. There was nothing that we could have wanted for. This bed and breakfast truly was better than any five star hotel I have ever stayed in. Once it is discovered, it will be difficult to get a room – book early!
