    A Very Special Place

    February 08, 2013

We first stayed at the Whitaker-Huntington Inn (WHI) in the spring of 1995. We have stayed in many other B&B's before and since, but the WHI stands out in our minds as a Very Special Place. Bill, the innkeeper, was accommmodating in every way. To be able to look out our window at that wonderful fountain across the street in Forsyth Park, and to hear it splashing in the cool night air was so special for a couple from Seattle! We enjoyed the flexibility of having breakfast at our convenience, and being able to walk just a short distance to Jonny Mercer's house. The entire experience was magical, memorable, and we can't wait to do it all over again this coming March! Yea!

Perfect place to relax and see the city!

    May 17, 2012

My sister and I stayed at the Whitaker-Huntington Inn for a weekend in May. Bill the innkeeper was wonderful, offering advise on the best places to eat and giving directions to local attractions. The location (across the street from Forsyth Park) was perfect; we took our coffee across the street every morning for a nice quiet stroll. The rooms are enormous (even in their "small" suite which was anything but!) and it was so nice to have two bedrooms as well as a dining area. We're not big breakfast eaters, but Bill was happy to pick up any breakfast food we wanted from the nearby grocery store and have it ready for us in the full kitchen. A seperate entryway with access to our rooms was very convenient. The B&B is about a 20 minute walk from Broughton Street and very manageable, as well as being quiet in the evenings (which you don't get closer to River Street). And a HUGE bonus is the parking lot right next door, as parking is at a premium anywhere in the Historic District. We definitely plan on staying there again!

    Perfect location for vacation!

    April 13, 2011

My husband, his parents and I stayed at the Whitaker-Huntingdon Inn. The first night we stayed in the upstairs and it was beautiful. The windows facing Forsythe park provide picturesque views of the happenings in and around the park. The other nights we stayed in the downstairs Taylor Dunne suite and loved it as well. It was more like an apartment though it still boasted the same type of beautiful furnishings and class. The location is perfect and there was ample parking. The Saxmans were always available to get ideas of where to go and what to do. Very hospitable!

    wonderful place to stay

    February 01, 2011

We continue to go back to the WHI every year for our stay in Savannah. We love the quaintness of the inn and especially the location. We are treated so specal by our host, Bill and Debbie, and have become very good friends. They will go out of their way to accommadate your stay with them.

Quaint, cozy, clean, welcoming Southern Hospitality!

    January 08, 2011

When we pulled up to the Whitaker-Huntingdon Inn, we were so impressed with the old Victorian architecture and welcoming feeling. The location across from Forsyth Park was perfect for long strolls with my family. The bedrooms were expertly decorated in old Victorian style and we almost expected Mrs. Jane Gordon to come strolling in with some sweet tea! But, since we are living in modern times, my 14 year old son was pleased there was free wi fi so her cold use his laptop to check his facebook page, and my 15 year old daughter was happy there were hairdryers. The kitchen was a perfect size for all of us to sit down and enjoy the continental style breakfast of yogurt, croissants, bagels, fresh fruit, pound cake, orange juice, milk, coffee & tea that Bill & Debbie provided. During the day, we explored historic Savannah, while Bill & Debbie cleaned our room & restocked our refrigerator; always asking if we needed or wanted anything special for that day. And in the evening we sat in the quaint living room for a glass of wine, cheese & crackers that we bought at the grocery store around the corner. We then went out on foot, to explore the vast night life of Savannah. We had a wonderful time bonding with each other again & are already planning our next trip to Savannah & the Whitaker-Huntingdon Inn!

    Excellent

    October 29, 2007

Great prices, huge rooms, wonderful inn-keepers who are always available when you need them, but not in the way when you don't. My husband and I went by ourselves, but this would've been any excellent place to bring our kids to! The rooms are far enough apart that you don't hear anyone else, and there is more than enough space to easily accomodate a family. We were provided for very well too- couldn't possibly have eaten all the food given to us! I would definately stay here again. The location is excellent as well!
