One of the crown jewels of Georgia's famed Golden Isles, Little St. Simons Island offers privacy, 7 miles of pristine beaches and 10,000 acres of undeveloped wilderness for exploration and relaxation. Family-owned since 1908, Little St. Simons Island has retained the charm and unhurried pace of coastal living. Moss draped live oaks and glistening marshes surround comfortable accommodations for just 32 overnight guests. The island is a paradise for nature lovers and offers a host of recreational activities: birding, boating, canoeing, kayaking, hiking, bicycling, interpretive tours, beach combing on 7 miles of deserted beaches, fishing and swimming. Rates include all meals, activities and use of recreational gear. The Lodge on Little St. Simons Island has received much acclaim including: No. 1 Resort in the Mainland U.S. by Condé Nast Traveler's Readers' Choice Awards 2007, “Gold List” by Condé Nast Traveler 2013, No 7 Resort in the South by Condé Nast Traveler’s Readers’ Choice Awards 2012.
Built in 1917, The Hunting Lodge is the heart of social life on the Island. With its stacked brick fireplace, pine bough furnishings, hunting accoutrements and family memorabilia, the living room, reminiscent of a Hemingway novel, is the perfect setting for guests to gather and discuss the day's discoveries and adventures. The Hunting Lodge houses two guest rooms, Lodge Left and Lodge Right. Each guest room has a king size bed and a private bath.
The Cedar House and The River Lodge were added in the 1980s. Each house has four spacious guestrooms, each with a private bath. The bedrooms in each house share a great room with a lofty beamed ceiling, tabby fireplace and screened porch. Both houses feature balconies which look out over the marshes, offering what is rumored to be the Island's best view of the legendary moss-draped live oaks, shimmering marsh grasses, winding tidal creeks, and spectacular sunsets!
The Helen House is an elegant reminder of a bygone era. Constructed of tabby, a mixture of oyster shells, lime and sand, it features a large living room filled with interesting memorabilia and a grand fireplace. Overlooking the courtyard are three spacious bedrooms with lovely antiques.
Perfect for a family of four wishing to have their own space, the Michael Cottage offers two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a cozy living room with a fireplace, and a screened porch. The Michael Cottage has a four-poster queen bed in one bedroom, and the second bedroom can be made to have one king or two twin size beds.

The Staff, the Location, the Food. Those are the best things about Little St. Simons Island. This out of the way getaway is well worth the effort to get there because once you're there you never want to leave. When you do, you keep coming back. We have for over 8 years now, whenever we can we plan another escape the friendly atmosphere and accommodating Staff, beautiful beach, and the deliciously prepared meals. Once you're there you've got to go back, it's that good!

We loved it! If you are not into birds, reptiles, surf fishing and being disconnected, then this place is not for you. The food is expertly prepared and I wish I had purchased the cookbook. We loved the isolation and easy pace.

We loved every minute of our stay at Little St. Simons Island. Every person on staff knew our names, knew my dining preferences (vegetarian) they just took care of every little thing down to the tiniest detail so we didn't have a care in the world. Our adventures on the island exceeded all of our expectations! We encountered: alligators, crabs, numerous birds, deer, raccoons, etc as we biked and hiked each day. The guides were wonderful!! My favorite was biking the beach at low tide with new-found friends that we met during our stay. Meals were delicious and entertaining served family-style. Gourmet and satisfying. I can't say enough good things about LSSI. We've never experienced a vacation like this. You must go. You simply must.
