The Commodore B & B

Very pleasant experience. Arrived at 5PM, room was ready and our hostess was very nice and helpful. She provided good recommendations for two different types of places to eat dinner. The rooms are older in style but have the amenities. we were blessed and got the one w/ in room bathroom. Breakfast is a normal southern type affair. probably the only downside is the yard/garden definitely needs work.

Let me start by saying neither I nor my family knew the owner, Kathryn, before this visit. As with anything that's almost two hundred years old you would expect some wear and tear and Kathryn is discovering this almost daily. The OLDEST home in Bainbridge, GA, Kathryn purchased The Commodore in May from two men who lost their love of the place after 15 years of ownership. In some corners it shows, in others it does not but what makes the difference is the zeal and attitude Kathryn is attacking these issues with. She has big plans for The Commodre and Bainbridge as a town and if the Chamber of Commerce and Mayor have any sense they'd take at least some of what she envisions to heart. I live in the fastest growing town in America with more than 150k people in it and they've done an AMAZING job growing their historic end business. Much of what they have done echoes what Kathryn wants for Bainbridge and The Commodore. I would easily recommend The Commodore to anyone wanting true Southern hospitality and a comfortable and beautiful place to rest between shopping excursions. Kathryn's excitement for The Commodore is contagious and her great service and dedication should be rewarded with much repeat business. I know we will see her again soon. On a side note, for breakfast order the homemade biscuits with local honey. That's worth the trip and we drove 900 miles... Steve P. McKinney, TX

This is a beautiful old house, very well kept and has all the luxury a Hotel room has. It is definitly worth a stay!

Three of us were traveling on business to the Bainbridge area and stayed here for about 10 days. Quinton and Phil did everything they possibly could to accomodate us. We were working greuling, long hours and it was always a delight to come back "home." The house is absolutely beautiful and decorated exquisitely. Everything was clean and cozy and at the same time spacious. The linens on the beds were ironed and Quinton and Phil accomodated our schedules every day, with very early breakfasts and late arrivals home. The breakfasts were outstanding, the service was top notch, and we could not have had a more pleasurable experience. My only regret is that I could not spend more time at the house and the gardens. I took my wife there this weekend for our 26th Anniversary. Quinton was exceptional from the reservation phone call to when we said goodbye after a fantastic weekend. I've been traveling throughout Georgia for several years and discovered the Commodore B&B during a business trip to Bainbridge. The house is beautiful and very well kept. There is a sense of peace and tranquility. The hosts' hospitality was outstanding. I would definitely go back again!

I have traveled to Bainbridge several times and ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS dreaded it because of the lack of satisfactory hotel lodging. This trip was going to be my last for that very reason. But my last trip to Bainbridge was fabulous! I never would have thought that a small town could offer such a great and awesome experience. The Commodore Bed & Breakfast was extraordinary and very clean. I did not have to worry about whipping out my own bed linen to sleep on. Quinton and Phil were very accomodating. Everytime I turned around they were there to assist me with whatever I needed help with. I especially liked the breakfast that was prepared by Quinton each morning. My day was off to the best start ever because of the wonderful breakfast I had each morning. I literally saw a difference in my work performance. Thanks again Quinton and Phil for providing such a great atmosphere during my stay at your bed and breakfast!

From the phone call to reserve a room until we left the property, our expectations of a first-class bed and breakfast were surpassed. Quinton and Phil are excellent innkeepers. Quinton not only cooks and presents a fantastic breakfast, but he provides tidbits of humor in his story-telling which brings laughter and enjoyment to the day's beginning. He was most helpful in directions and recommending places to eat and have a drink in downtown which is so convenient to this quiet oasis. I'm sure even Scarlett O'Hara would have enjoyed her stay here. We'll highly recommend this B&B to our friends who want a clean, well-appointed place to relax and enjoy southern living at its best. This is the place to stay in Bainbridge. Phil and Quinton have made sure that when you stay at the Commodore, you feel at home. There's no sterile feel like when staying in a hotel. The grounds and the atmosphere set you back in the old south. The breakfast is delicious too! I couldn't have asked for a more peaceful, homey stay away from home.

The service, atmosphere and accommodations at the Commodore are second to none. Quinton and Phil have thought of everything to make your stay in the Bainbridge area as peaceful and homey as possible. Don't even bother looking at hotels because they won't be able to come close to touching this overall experience. Breakfast is delicious and the decor and feel of the house and grounds make you feel like you're stepping back to simpler, beautiful times.

The Innkeepers were outstanding. A beautiful home with gorgeous grounds in a quiet setting. The breakfast was delightful and very tasty. Me and my 91 year old mother stayed here on Mother's Day weekend to surprise my daughter, who lives locally. This was one of the BEST places I have ever stayed; my mother loved the Inn. We had a wonderful suite; were provided everything we could possibly need or want. The breakfast was great; service was beyond wonderful. I would highly recommend this inn to everyone! My wife and I were looking for a nice place to stay in Bainbridge to attend my wife's high school reunion. I found the Commadore on the internet. It is a gracious historic home, beautifully decorated, and immaculate. We enjoyed the beautiful grounds and pool. My wife read her book on the nicely decorated screened area by the pool. We stayed in the commodore suite which was large and beautifully decorated. There was chocolate by the bed, a basket full of snacks, a refridgerator with assorted soft drinks and bottled water. There was a microwave with popcorn and a set of dinnerware with glasses and wine glasses and plenty of fresh towels in the huge bathroom. We had the best nights sleep in the most comfortable bed with ironed sheets that I have ever slept in. We were able to walk to Cinda's on the Square for lunch that was so good we went back for dinner. We could also walk to the Fire House where the school reunion was held. The next morning we enjoyed a delicious breakfast and conversation with Quinton. The table was set attractively and orange juice was even served in crystal stem ware. We were made very comfortable and will be returning next time we visit Bainbridge. Thanks Quinton and Phil for you wonderful hospitality!! Butch and Shirely

The house and the grounds are gorgeous and the hospitality is off the charts great. Quinton & Phil are wonderful! The breakfast was traditional southern food and there is a good selection. I was traveling for business and it was such a treat to get to stay at the Commodore. It made the trip business and pleasure. Also, I work for Shaw Industries and The Commodore has been added to Shaw Travel as an approved vendor. The Shaw plant is 9 miles from the inn. Thank you Quinton & Phil!

We were looking for a good B&B. Did we find one! The grounds were beautiful, the home was beautiful, the Red Room was georgeous. The service and hospitality was outstanding! If we are back in the area again rest assured, this is where we want to stay Thanks Phil and Quinton, Larry and Jannis

A stay at the Commodore B & B sounds grand and it truly is! My wife and I stayed in the Commodore room. Both the bedroom and private bath were beautifully decorated (note the cherubs everywhere in the bath). Quinton and Phil had thought of every detail to make our stay very comfortable and enjoyable. Quinton makes a great omelet, biscuits and grits too! Only a 1 night stay for us this time but looking forward to our next visit to the quaint little Southern town of Bainbridge, GA.

So impressed by Quinton and Phil's attention to every detail imaginable and their genuine concern for me as a guest each time I've stayed at The Commodore; I honestly can't see myself staying anywhere else while in town (and I have family in Bainbridge). I would venture to say that aside from the impeccable customer service and attention given, my accommodations at the Commodore Bed & Breakfast would easily rival any five-star B&B experience I've ever had while staying at bed and breakfast locations in Northern California's pristine Napa-Sonoma Valley wine region. The fact that The Commodore innkeepers respect and protect their guests' privacy is yet another glaring example of how the innkeepers have managed to set The Commodore apart from other similar or competing local/area B&Bs and hotels. Additionally, Quinton and Phil's "blind eye" to any form of discrimination (regardless of who you are) is unparallelled in the local market. RESPECT is automatically reciporal here. The Commodore is hands down the best local B&B catering to ALL who are made to feel welcomed from the moment you step onto the grounds of this stunning 'ole Georgian antebellum mansion that's meticulously kept and maintained. Kudos to Quinton & Phil for making The Commodore Bed and Breakfast the "BEST of the BEST" in Southwest Georgia. I don't think it gets much better than this. Two thumbs WAY up!!!!!! Rahn d. My stay at the Commodore B&B was outstanding! I have stayed at a few B&Bs over the years. I also travel 75% of the time for business, usually staying at hotels. It was so refreshing to stay here. I really felt like I was coming home at the end of each day. Quinton and Phil are very friendly and Quinton pays attention to every detail. Phil greeted me at the door each evening welcoming me in. Quinton makes a delicious breakfast - the homemade biscuits are yummy, the eggs were perfect. I was pleasantly surprised to find a mini fridge and a microwave and coffee maker in my room. I have not had that before at a B&B. With real cream and all the trimmings right in the room it was good to have a cup of coffee while getting ready, without having to use little packets of dry creamer or go to the lobby to find creamers. The decor is charming - with antiques, fresh cut flowers in the room, straight from the garden outside and beautiful colors that blend throughout. And the grounds are peaceful with bird feeders, lots of flowers and trees, a gazebo and even a screened in gatehouse by the pool to sit and relax in at the end of the day. My room was very comfortable with a couch I could melt in. The bed was beautifully made up with clean, pressed sheets and plenty of pillows. There was a small TV in the room - again not something I had expected. Anything I needed was attended to right away - cheerfully and with excellent care. I would return here in a heartbeat and plan to tell everyone I know passing through the area to enjoy a stay with Quinton and Phil!!! Susan

This B&B is just great. The home is a beautiful example of gracious southern charm. The service and staff were outstanding, from baggage handling to valet parking. A basket full of complimentary snacks in our room was really a pleasaant suprise and so were the handpressed bed liens . The "cooked to order" breakfast was perfect. Our eggs were fried just the way we like them. The homemade biscuits were some of the best we have ever had. The hosts went out of their way to insure our stay was perfect. If your in Southwest Georgia, this is the B&B to stay at!

Very nice house, decorated nicely with reproduction antiques, breakfast meat was made in the microwave, food was editable, but was not comparable to other B&B's. Staff was friendly, and knew area well.

We're sorry that these guests had a problem finding restaurants. We have two restaurants within one block and seven within a five minute walk. Our home is furnished with a large number of antiques and fine art. We do have some reproduction pieces. Our breakfasts are cooked-to-order from items selected off a menu. We offer a "southern style" breakfast with selections including grits, homemade biscuits, any style eggs, pan-fried sausage, etc. Bacon is indeed microwaved, in order to reduce the grease content. As innkeepers, we strive to offer the finest lodgings and the best service that we can. We feel that the other reviews reflect our hard work and attention to service.

What a gem! The Commodore B&B property provides the perfect get-away. The beautifully decorated house is located in a quite, tree-lined neighborhood, and yet the downtown area and a State park are both within walking distance. The rooms were clean and the overall service was superb. Phil and Quinton made us feel as though we were friends who had dropped in for the week-end. We highly recommend the Commodore. My fiancee & I enjoyed Phil's and Quinton's hospitality for a weekend. What an enjoyable experience! This house is magnificent, with very impressive furnishings. Our room was perfect. The grounds must be seen. If there is something the owners could have done to make our stay better, I can't imagine what it would be. If you are in the Bainbridge are, this is your place!

Excellent, I loved it very much. Quincy and Phil were great. Breakfast was outstanding-they made breakfast for all our needs--this meant extra cooking on their part. Made a reservation at a restuarant for us prior to us getting there--excellent meal. This was the first time for my husband and me staying at B&B, so I didn't know what to expect. I wished I could have stayed longer.

What a pleasant surprise in Bainbridge, GA! The most beautiful gardens surround this historic home-including a nice pool! The Inn Keepers were pleasant and helpful and the bed was so comfortable! Would definitely stay there again.

I came into Bainbridge for a wedding but was late checking in due to traffic the Inn Keepers where understanding and waiting up for us. It was nice to wake up to a homemade breakfast.

The Commodore B & B is the perfect place to stay in splended comfort and gracious care. It's THE place to stay in Bainbridge. Quinton and Phil do not disappoint. You will be glad to find this gem like we did.

To say that the Commodore is a great B&B doesn't begin to do it justice. From the moment we pulled into the private, gated drive and were met by the owners, we were treated like pampered family. Walking into the entrance, the decorations and furnishings are internationally eclectic, and feature antiques along with original art. Everything is skillfully arranged, with a designer's eye for detail. Rich colors and pattern flow from room to room. The interiors were renovated to preserve the historic importance of this old mansion., but there is nothing stodgy about this gem. Our rooms and the entire second floor were equally detailed and artistically rich. The bed linens were luxury, boutique hotel, level quality and very comfortable. Both rooms were enhanced by televisions, well stocked refrigerators, microwaves, and snack baskets (complete with cookies, crackers, popcorn, and a very thoughtful selection of sugar free items). Breakfast is ordered the night before and prepared to order, individually by Quinton (one of the owners). We chose scrambled eggs, English muffins and fresh fruit. It was very good and came with great conversation. The owners, Phil and Quinton are warm and friendly. They were truly hospitable and went way beyond the extra mile for us. In fact, when our rental car failed to start the next day, they were far more helpful than the rental company and even offered to jump it and drive us to the office! The next time I travel to Bainbridge for business, I will schedule my trip around the room availability at the Commodore Bed & Breakfast.

The house is lovely; the service, excellent; but what really made my stay was the beautiful grounds. This B&B has an amazing garden, including a wonderful screened-in gazebo. An afternoon of reading on the gazebo while a storm rolled through town was relaxing enough to make me feel like my short business trip was a full weekend getaway.

I was looking for a quiet place to rest and rejuvenate after a tough year. From the minute I pulled into the driveway and saw the first glimpse of the house I knew I was in for a treat. As I was met at the door and made to feel very welcome with southern hospitality, to the beautiful decor of a well kept home I could feel myself relaxing. I will definitely be back. It was a wonderful weekend with wonderful host.
