The Saint Charles Inn

I stayed at SCI for two nights in July 2011 while in Atlanta on business. Let me start by saying that SCI starts by making the guest feel welcome from the very beginning. The accommodations are really superb...(I stayed in the Martin room, which is the most economical room with a separate hall bathroom). The innkeeper (whom I never saw or met during my entire stay), allows guests free run of the house, facilities, and backyard. They stock complementary bottled water, sodas, and even beer (Bud Light) in the fridge which is accessible 24/7. The owner also thoughtfully provided several guidebooks to Atlanta (I had forgotten mine at home), as well as board games which would be helpful to families travelling with young children. On that last point, all the makings of a "family night" are here...one can easily imagine they are right at home in their own living room! The backyard is secluded and romantic with a small fountain gurgling to the side. The facility also provides Fixed Wireless as well as a standard desktop PC w/ I-net access. My only two complaints are that the innkeeper/owner does not live on premises...he has essentially outsourced the operation to "Austin", who was especially conversational and helpful. Some ladies who are traveling alone may not appreciate the idea of sleeping in a B&B with other unknown guests, or completely alone in the house at night. Secondly, the security could be vastly improved with an electronic card key access lock (just like in hotels)- currently the front door is only secured by a deadbolt. Every guest needs to be vigilant about locking the door behind them once they come inside, and not letting strangers into the place. The same key to the front door also unlocks the bedroom door...even as a guy I was concerned that someone could copy this master key and use it for ill intent.

This was the first time we stayed in a Bed & Breakfast. When the innkeeper on duty left at 4:30 he told us we should just keep the doors locked when we went to bed as that night we were the only ones in the inn. That made me a little on edge but I should not have been. It was a restful night (even though there was a storm) and we awoke to a wonderful breakfast and had a great time visiting with the innkeeper. We would stay there again....

Wasn't a big fan of The Saint Charles Inn. Might have been because we had just come from a wonderful B&B in the Smokey Mountains in southern Tennessee, but, my wife and I weren't very impressed. It was just mediocre, at best. The innkeeper was rather inattentive and mostly absent. The decor was outdated, and our room didn't have central heat & air but rather a window unit, which wasn't explained until arrival. Lastly, the wifi wasn't working in our room. Doubt we'd ever stay here again.

All of our rooms have air conditioning whether central AC, wall units or a combination of both. We offer complimentaty WiFi in the common areas as well as most guest rooms. Stayed in the carriage house which was lovely the first night. The second night the room was occupied with a rather noisy couple, unfortunate.

The Gaslight Inn /Saint Charles Inn is and has always been an extraordinary source of comfort and southern beauty and charm every time I stay. I have visited numerous times over the past 7 years and am a frequent traveler to Atlanta. I love it!

We were warmly greeted upon arrival and given a tour of the inn. The staff provided information about the area and was very accommodating and friendly. Everything was clean. It is set in a great neighborhood with lots of good dining choices in the area. Overall, this was a great place to stay for the money.

Our first time staying at the Gaslight Inn, it won't be our last. We stayed in the Carriage House room right behind the main house. So quiet, a beautiful room! Breakfast is continental style, nothing special. But plenty of places to eat within walking distance. A wonderful place to stay and so convenient to everything!

This was the most relaxing weekend I have had in a long time. Emory and Mark made it such a wonderful experience for us. These two went out of their way to make us feel as special as they could. This is a wonderful place to stay for a night, a weekend or just to getaway. Joe and Tiffany

My husband and I recently celebrated our anniversary at your beautiful inn. The location and accommodations were fantastic! Service was wonderful and we felt like guests in your home. We especially enjoyed the private screened porch our suite offered. It was so relaxing to sip wine and people watch! Thanks again!

I have stayed at the Gaslight Inn several times in the last year. I have booked two different rooms (the Pink Room and the Ivy Cottage). Both are nice. The Ivy Cottage is great if you need more space or will be there for an extended time.The rooms (both guest and public) are spotless and very comfortable. The breakfast is always freshly prepared and ready as promised. There are plenty of choices (fruit, quiche, muffins, etc.). There is a frig with all types of soft drinks and snacks in the living area. There is also wine available in the evening. There are plenty of great restaurants within two blocks of the inn, along with boutiques and a couple of bars.There are restaurant discount coupons available for guests. The nightlife in Virginia-Highlands also includes live music. There is an arts/indie movie theatre about four-five blocks away. The neighborhood has wonderful houses and yards, with a park just a few blocks away. There are lots of people out walking and running so safety has never been a concern for me in the evenings. The innkeeper is friendly and will help with directions, information on restaurants, etc. I can highly recommend The Gaslight Inn for both business and leisure travel. It is my favorite place to stay in Atlanta, and a wonderful change from standard hotels. KHC

Staying at The Gaslight Inn is always a pleasure. Accommodations are clean, spacious and comfortable. Breakfast is always above the norm of a B&B!

I've stayed in a lot of beautiful hotels and inns in my life, but the ambiance, furnishings, and 'feeling like home' always brings me back to the Gaslight Inn. Mark and Emory have become friends over the years and it is a gift I give to myself to stay at the Gaslight. There is no other like it!

We can't say enough good things about the Gaslight Inn. My son, who is eight and hard to impress, even wants to go back. It felt like home away from home and beyond. The local area is great also. We moved to Georgia from Vegas and really wanted a special place to be our first night over in Atlanta--we found it and plan to stay many more nights! This B&B is a real gem in the Virginia highlands of Atlanta. Mark is the best host. the rooms are lovely. The service and offerings are amazing.

We've been staying at The Gaslight for the past 7 years twice a year during the Atlanta Gift Show. I think you'd be hard pressed to find a nicer B&B in the South! Mark and Emory are the most gracious hosts...very down to earth, friendly and accommodating. They live across the street from the main Inn and are always accessible during your stay. The complex features the main Inn, a building behind the Inn, a lovely garden area and a house across the street that has suites (stay in the St. Charles if you can!!). The Inn is right in the heart of Virginia Highlands, with good restaurants and some shops within a few blocks. Off-street parking is available. The breakfast each morning is yummy! If you like B&B accommodations and you're in Atlanta, you MUST stay at The Gaslight!

We had a mini reunion for a wedding in Atlanta and loved every minute of our stay at the Gaslight.

By accident, we called this inn, went to look at our room (Terrace Suite) & immediately took it. Everything was great! Very hospitable. Only complaint was mattress in 2nd bedroom. We rolled to the middle.

From the minute we walked in and met Mark until we left four days later, we had an exceptional experience. He and his staff really do pamper you with all the extras.

I have had opportunities to be a guest at The Gaslight Inn on four or five occasions during the past decade, and my most recent visit was just as enjoyable as my memories of past visits to this delightful B&B. Located in the vibrant Virginia Highlands area, The Gaslight Inn is within easy walking distance of excellent restaurants and fun boutiques. The hospitality at this B&B remains warm and gracious, the food (breakfast and snacks) is still delicious, and the accommodations are tasteful and comfortable. The Gaslight Inn was delightful! It is in the perfect location just a block away from stores, restaurants, etc. The service was incredible and the staff was so friendly! We can't wait to go back!

This was a first stay at a Bed & Breakfast in years and we were reminded why no longer stayed at Hotel chains before we had children. Now that they are grown up and we have to travel we can resume these kinds of stays. We couldn't recommend it higher. Miachael, the Innkeeper, was warm, friendly, always there when you needed him. The place was spotless, the rooms cozy and delightfully bright and cheery. The location is fantastic with restaurants and cafes galore. It's close to downtown; you can be there in 5 minutes. When in Atlanta, why stay anywhere else if you don't have to?

We've stayed at the Gaslight Inn many times. The friendly service, great vaule and location keep us coming back year after year.

We were pleasantly surprised that a location in town & walking distance to several restaurants and shops could be so quiet. Our room overlooked a courtyard garden. The library /piano room was cozy. Breakfast was delicious. Our kids, aged 9 and 11, enjoyed the stay.

Resently, my wife and I decided to take a day off in Atlanta. Gaslight Inn has a spontaneous getaway price--$99.00 for the night if you make your reservation on the day you want to stay. Fortunately there was a room available. We stayed in the carriage house, upstairs across the garden from the main building. The owner/innkeeper welcomed us warmly and showed us around the inn. The room was beautifully appointed, with a balcony, bath, sitting room and kitchen. The area is quiet, but centrally located. Many shops and restaurants are in walking distance, and some of the main sights in Atlanta are an easy drive. All was charm and comfort; breakfast was very nice and included quiche made to order. We will definitely stay there again.
