Caroline's Gran Marnier French Toast
Ingredients: 2 medium-sized loaves Challah Bread, 1 1/2 inch slices 1 cup fresh Organic orange juice 1 tablespoon grated Organic orange peel 3/4 cup Organic half 'n half cream 6 large Organic eggs 2 tablespoons Grand Marnier 1/2 cup Organic Greek yogurt, honey flavored if available 2 tablespoons Organic granulated sugar Steps: In a large bowl, combine all ingredients except sliced Challah bread. Whisk until well blended. Dip each slice into the egg mixture and then layer in a large glass baking dish. Pour any remaining egg mixture over the bread slices. Cover and refrigerate overnight or at least 8 hours. Heat a griddle or large skillet over medium-high heat. Melt small amounts of butter into the skillet/griddle. Lightly brown the toast slices on both sides; keep warm in oven until ready to serve. Dust with confectioner’s sugar and garnish with fresh whipped cream and an orange slice before serving. Serve with warm Grand Marnier syrup. Grand Marnier Syrup: Combine 4 cups water and 2 cups organic granulated sugar in a sauce pan and bring to a boil. Add orange peel from 2 oranges sliced into thin strips (white pith removed) and simmer until liquid is reduced to 3 cups or thickens to the consistency of syrup. Add 1 Tablespoon Gran Marnier liqueur and cook for 10 minutes longer. Remove orange peel and reserve for garnish on French toast if desired. Total preparation time: 15 minutes Serves: 8

  Exit 175/85 at exit #250 from the south and #250 from I75 north or exit # 84 from I85 north, go East on 10th to Juniper, turn right, go one block to Eighth. Turn left on eighth. Turn left on Piedmont (because of traffic and visibility this is a difficult turn) 923 is on the right hand side (east) of the road, the second house from Eighth. It is a green house on a hill surrounded by stone retaining walls. Pull into driveway; parking available in front and in rear.

Exit station N4 to 10th Street, facing 10th Street with the station behind you, turn right (East). Walk East on 10th approximately 3 1/2 blocks to Piedmont. Turn right (South) on Piedmont and go to 923. It is a green house on a hill surrounded by stone retaining walls.
