    home away from home

    November 27, 2011

Inman Park B&B feels like home, or at least home as I like to envision it. Charming, but not overdone. The innkeeper is friendly and casual -- whatever you want is just fine. The two cats are charmers and Bob the Duck (who lives in the back yard) is very special. An easy walk to the MARTA station, where a couple of buses also stop (a 15-minute ride directly to Emory University). Only downside is that there's not much else within walking distance (tho' the only restaurant, the One-Eared Stag, is excellent).

I've stayed in BnBs before and this was close to a nightmare. Rusty water, moldy linnens, little to no service, although breakfast was basic and Okay. I would look around before pulling the trigger on this one...

Coca Cola King, Nice Proprietor and a pair of nice cats

    February 10, 2011

This B&B is very convenient to downtown and the MARTA. It was built about 100 years ago by one of the Coca Cola founders. The Almon Brothers apparently used it as headquarters when Atlanta as one of the died there. An interesting old community with a few houses that Sherman missed when he tried to burn down all Atlanta. Neighbor has many restored old houses, a lake with a goose and some remaining homes that need restoring. It is a pleasant and rather quiet area a short ways from a business district an several warehouses and a scattering of restaurants. I would likely stay there again if planning to be in Atlanta.
