I decided to surprise my girlfriend with something different... our first bed and breakfast! I chose The Galloway House, trusting the reviews of previous guests, which were outstanding. After our stay we both agreed that this is how we're going to do things from now on. Our room, which was actually a one bedroom house, was simply AWESOME! The wood flooring, vintage furniture, fully equipped kitchen with lots of complimentary goodies, private bathroom and parking, attentive hosts and its location were the perfect setting for one of our most memorable outings. The ghost of Mr. Lester was friendly and left us alone, for the most part. He did let us know he was there once by turning the door knob to the front door, courteously letting us know he was coming in to spend some time with us. We both rate our stay at The Galloway House a 10+.

We loved everything about our short stay in Savannah especially the Galloway House! Keith and Jim made us feel incredibly welcome and they were even flying a Canadian flag :) The Carriage House was lovely and we felt so very comfortable there. I can't wait until we can come back and visit again!!

We were in Savannah for a family Easter weekend - had a great time. The house is very nice - top notch. We tried a couple of restaurants near the house, all were very good. The owners are great. Would highly recommend staying here - when I'm back for the Savannah marathon definitely going to try and stay here again.

Having a kitchen was great.... Owners were extremely personable and helpful in every way. Would highly recommend this B and B ....several very good restauarants are in walking distance and historical Savannah to the riverfront is about a 30 minute walk.

We stayed at Galloway House in mid March on our way home to Ontario. It was a bit of a walk down to the historic district and riverfront and we had a cool drizzly day to do it but it was awesome. Loved the walk through all the various squares and the scenery was amazing. We were staying in the main floor carriage house. It was roomy, very clean and well supplied. While not a bed and breakfast the owners call it apartment and breakfast . Bagels, muffins, butter, cream cheese, orange juice., granola bars are applied along with a nice bottle of wine. We had a very private entry way through the gardens and felt very safe. Some have stated it was in a risky put neighbourhood but I did not feel that at all. It was not the historic district but I walked our dog all around the neighbourhood several times and felt safe. It is an older area but the entire city is old and full of history. All in all a very enjoyable stay and we would definitely stay here on a return visit, which we hope to make another year. We stayed 3 days and there is still a lot to see. Thank you Jim and Keith.
From the Historic Savannah Foundation's website: Designated a National Register Historic District in 1997, the Thomas Square Streetcar Historic District contains a collection of historic, intact residential, commercial, and community buildings associated with the Thomas Square Neighborhood. Developed in the late nineteenth century, Thomas Square is bounded by Anderson Lane on the north, East Broad Street, roughly Victory Drive on the south, and Montgomery Street on the west. The city electrified the streetcar in 1888 and extended the A and B Belt line south along Whitaker Street into this district, creating a streetcar suburb. The streetcar lines were removed in 1920 due to the increased use of the automobile.

The Galloway House exceeded our expectations. The property is beautiful, and guests receive 5-star treatment. The owners are welcoming and make sure that every need is addressed. The Galloway House has my highest recommendation.

I made a fairly last minute reservation at the Galloway house(4-6 March). I was traveling with my 18 year old daughter and we decided to make a stop in Savannah. I love the look and feel of the Galloway house. We were in one of the carriage house apartments so we had tons of privacy and our own private entrance. The garden area leading to our apartment is lovely and I am sure it is absolutely stunning during the growing season. The apartment is well appointed and the extra touch of a bottle of wine, a fridge with bottled water, juice, cream cheese and butter was wonderful. Jim and Keith normally put bagels and such in the apartment for guests but we asked for fruit instead. They very willingly made the adjustment. Jim and Keith are perfect hosts. They are available if you need them but otherwise leave you alone. I personally love the location. We were able to walk to the river. It is a bit of a hike but it is so pretty. One block up to bull street and head straight to the river. History is abundant and the best way to really get a feel for Savannah is to walk these wonderful streets and have plenty of time to do it. We were also able to rent bikes from Jim and Keith and we had a nice ride. There is no onsite dining but there are plenty of places to eat and breakfast can be had at the apartment.

The B&B was nice. My fiance and I enjoyed our time there and used it's relative proximity to Forsyth park and historic Savannah to make the most of our trip. Though it is a bit of a walk if you want to explore all of the way to the river, that's the kind of exploration Savannah was made for so it wasn't an issue. The area was safe, the apartment was clean, and Jim and Keith were hospitable. While the breakfast isn't anything too special, it sufficed and wasn't an issue since I don't usually choose my lodging based on their dining options. Overall, it's somewhere I would recommend staying.

Just home from a week in Savannah. We stayed at The Galloway House and soon found that we have found our home while visiting Savannah. We go to Savannah 3-4 times a year and have stayed at many different places. This is the first place we were made to feel at home from the greeting with Jim and Keith. They both were very accommodating and knowledgeable. The accommodations were very clean and so comfortable. They have thought of everything to make your stay enjoyable. My wife and I also appreciated the fact that we had complete privacy and had our own fully stocked kitchen. The neighborhood also has several great little cafes and resturaunts. They are located in a quiet area of the historic district but just minuets to everything. Thank you for providing such wonderful and inviting accommodations. We have found our new home while visiting Savannah!

I live and work on the 2nd floor of the main house with (3) rescued Great Danes along with my partner Jim. I've traveled through all of Central America, most of South America, Europe, North Africa, the Middle East and Asia so I know how important a bottle of wine, a hot shower and a good bed can be after a long day on the road.
