Hodgson Lumpkin House As you drive onto The Hill (common name for the location of houses) one of the first houses you come to is the picturesque Hodgson Lumpkin House, commonly known as the A&D House. The Plantation Plain style 2 story home is the most recent addition to The Hill but one of the oldest to Athens. The house was constructed in 1801 on Oconee Street, just past downtown Athens, GA. In the late 20th century the building had fallen into disrepair and was only used as storage for the owner. As a bicentennial project in 2001, the Epting’s took on the task of moving it to its current location and restoring this home to its original splendor. A full length screened in back porch was added for those perfect evenings on a rocking chair with a good book. The interior is completely furnished with period antiques and includes 3 bedrooms (2 queen beds and 2 twin beds, 2 twin air mattresses), 3 full baths, a living room, dining room, den, and kitchen. Two other rental houses are on the same property. Each can be rented separately or together and can be used for special events such as weddings for up to 400 guests.

From Athens:Take Prince Ave away from downtown. You will pass Athens Country Club on your right, approximately ½ a mile on the left is a driveway marked with a white sign 'The Hill'It is directly across from Athens Family Dentist. Once you turn down the drive, follow the signs for parking. It is the second large white house on the left. Note: If you get to Marathon gas station, you've gone too far.

From Atlanta:Take I-85 north to exit 137. Turn right. Stay on 129 for approximately 20 miles. You will pass the Marathon gas station on your right. It is the 2nd driveway immediately following marked with a white sign The Hill. Once you turn down the drive, follow the signs for parking. The A&D House is the second large, white house on the left. You may park in the circular driveway.Note: If you get to Moss Side Dr. you have gone too far.
