Elizabeth Gates, the widow of a wholesale grocery merchant, erected this Free Classic style Mansion and lived here until 1907. Special packages available.

In the old children's story, '' Stone Soup'', three weary travelers in need of food and rest come upon a small village only to find the inhabitants wary and pretending to be in need themselves. The travelers convince the villagers they can make a soup out of stones. Enchanted by this marvelous claim, the villagers gradually contribute the food they had hidden away. Together, they make a wonderful soup and the whole village comes out to welcome the travelers with a great feast. Our bed and breakfast draws from the lesson of the story.
