    Villa du Parc is a manor constructed in the thirties in the so-called “Basque style”. It now contains a number of holiday apartments (accomodating 2 to 4 persons), a separat house for 5 persons and four rooms (B & B). There is also a chimney lounge, equipped with a chimney and comfortable easy chairs, a free internet connection, games, books, magazines and a video beamer, a dining room and a terrasse. And underneath the house, you find a large subterranean garage, where you can store (and work on) your (motor)bikes, skies, etc. The grounds surrounding the manor are 8000 square meters (a little over three acres), with centenary trees and affording a magnificient view of the Pyrennees; it is equipped with a swimming pool, sauna, and a jaccuzzi. There are deck-chairs and other opportunities for sitting down, a barbecue, and a play-ground for children. The property is located at the edge of the town of Prades (Casals festival), so that you can walk to the town center in about ten minutes, and enjoy the restaurants, movies, concerts, shops, and the weekly market there.

    We were extremely pleased with the location, the room and the proprietors. It was clean, well run, beautifully appointed (not kitsch) and everything functioned perfectly from the modern shower to the automatic roll down black-out shades to the heating/cooling system with the remote controls. There are different rooms in the main house and small guesthouses so we didn’t see them all. But the one we stayed in was perfect. The breakfast was excellent and Mireike and Oliver were knowledgeable, helpful and enjoyable. They speak impeccable English, French and German. We were in Perpignan and planning our trip to the Solar Furnace in the mountains, when the weather turned miserable and foggy. We called ahead to make a possible reservation on the return leg. It was Oliver who checked locally and told us that the weather above 1000m was clear and that we should go ahead with the trip. It worked perfectly and staying with them was a delightful end to a wonderful day. We were only sad that they were already booked full for the next few nights, so we moved onward. But if we get a chance, we will return. It is almost worth the trip as a destination.

    One of the best B&B we have stayed in,Perfect for the yellow train from Villefranche and to visit Andorra. lovley gardens and pool and a warm welcome from the owners. Geoff & Pat
