You’ll really start to feel yourself relax here as you take a leisurely dip in the pool or lie in a hammock in the shade. Perfectly located just a short walk (15 mins) from the heart of Foix, a lively market town in the foothills of the Pyrenees, with its historic medieval chateau, busy market offering the best of local produce, pavement cafes and bars, and a wide choice of restaurants ranging from high-dining to family-friendly. The Pyrenees surrounding Foix are stunning and the Ariege is rich in culture and history, with medieval castles and ruins, prehistoric cave paintings, bustling towns and sleepy French villages. Hiking and mountain bike trails are right on our doorstep, and we’re within easy access of a wealth of sporting activities (see full listing below). If on holiday with a young family, there’s plenty around to keep everyone entertained. So, whether you want to explore, get active in the mountains, or simply relax by the pool we’ll make sure you have a great time.

Surya B&B in Foix, Ariège is an ideal basecamp when you want to visit Ariège. Corinne and Andy are the perfect hosts: Andy can fix you a perfect Thai meal and can give you ideal hiking and daytime trip tips, maps included. Corinne is a sunshine in the house everyday and her (optional) yoga classes, (next to the pool, with a view) were my perfect start of the day. There are several sitting places in the sunny garden, so you get all the privacy you like. I'm positive I will return there one day.

Corinne is a qualified Hatha yoga teacher and runs daily classes all year from her studio at the house. Andy is a dedicated cyclist with a lot of local knowledge of trails for hiking/biking and roads for riding/sightseeing. He's also a great cook whose specialities include Asian dishes.
