Quality bed and breakfast getaway in an 18th century farmhouse La Barotte is a family-run bed-and-breakfast located in Chaumontet, part of the historic commune of Chaumont, in Haute-Savoie. Your hosts are François and Angela Cornu. This lovely, old farmhouse nestles at the foot of the south face of the Mont Vuache, and offers a panoramic view on the Alps to the south and east, and on the Jura to the west. Annecy is just 30 minutes away, as is Geneva. It is easily accessible, and is less than 20 minutes from the A40 and A41, and from the Swiss motorway network. Many pilgrims on their way to Santiago de Compostela stop off at Chaumont.

Loblaz
This is an airy bedroom with wooden panelling, flooring and ceilings. It is equipped with a super-king-size double bed, which can be converted into twin beds if necessary, a LED television set and a Wifi connection. Tea and coffee-making facilities are provided. It has an en-suite shower room/toilet with separate wash basin. It faces west, and gets the afternoon and evening sun. From the window, there is a lovely view on the Jura, and on the medieval fortified house and farmhouse of Loblaz. As in all our rooms, smoking is not allowed.

The Chaumont suite is made up of a bedroom, sitting room, bathroom and toilet, with a separate entrance. The bedroom is furnished with a super-king-size bed and a single bed, a LED television, and Wifi connection is available. An antique chest and wardrobe blend together with the wooden floor and ceiling to create a warm, cosy atmosphere. Tea and coffee-making facilities are provided. The sitting room is also furnished with antiques, and contains a desk, a couch and, for music lovers, a piano. The bath/shower room and separate toilet lead off from the sitting room.

This oddly-shaped room used to be part of the old hay loft, which also explains its rather curiously-shaped windows, one of which is called a bull’s eye in French. It is furnished with two 19th century brass bedsteads, an antique chest and wardrobe, and antique rugs. It also has a LED television set and a Wifi connection. A new bathroom has been added, with a bathtub and a shower, and a separate toilet. As in all our rooms, smoking is not allowed.

There is no public transport to get to La Barotte. If you land at Geneva airport, you'll have to take a taxi or hire a car. The same applies if you arrive at the TGV station of Bellegarde. Pkease contact us if you need picking up at the station or airport, and we will see whether we can do this for you. The nearest motorway exit is ELOISE (A40) or ANNECY or SAINT-JULIEN-EN-GENEVOIS (A41), or SAINT-JULIEN-EN-GENEVOIS (N1 Swiss motorway).
