The story - I send my husband to france with the contact details of Appleton to arrange a stay on a very long journey back from Monleon (midi-pyrenees) to the UK with my father and our german shepard. As normal the boys ingnored a perfectly reasonable instruction to call and arrange before they left, instead on the journey a few miles out they called asking if they could be accomodated. You picked up the phone and made thier day by saying yes more than welciome come on over, how accomodating at such "very" short notice. They were welcomed by friendly faces and a very freindly atmosphere, along with a lovely bottle of red and the company flowed through the evening, whilst I was texting to see if they were still alive!! You accomodated our dear old german shephard so no uncomforatable stay in the car for her either, what a wonder that there are such places for us dog lovers. Breakfast - apparantly better than mine! not sure that I would agree with that, but tasty all the same. thank you to you both for looking after my two weary travellers, if we do the trip again we would certainly call to see if you are still there. Have a great 2012 - Rob / John - the wife!! (tara) :):)

The warmest welcome you will receive anywhere in France. It turns the stopover - we stayed en route to Corbieres and on the way back to Caen - a delight rather than a chore. Edward and Malcom have created a haven of hospitality. David and Hilary

My husband & I plus my daughter and her husband stayed at Appleton's for one evening on 24th June 2011 and had a wonderful relaxed evening. The weather was fantastic which meant we could eat outside. Edward and Malcolm were generous hosts and Edward's cooking was fantastic. After a very long journey it was a real haven in which to relax and enjoy good company. We would definitely return.

On September 21st this year we spent the late afternoon and evening at Appleton's Farmhouse B&B We had a delightful and welcoming host, met several interesting and charming people who either worked or were visitng there, enjoyed a sumptuous dinner at a table resounding with wonderful dinner conversation (we ate too much and even though the bed was most comfortable we had a hard time sleeping after the feast!)Our breakfast was equally fabulous and we had no trouble enjoying the host's cooking skills once again! The fine conversations also made us linger despite needing to get underway for the next leg of our tour...all in all, a very fine experience and we would do it again in a heart beat. Many thanks for a memorable time!

I stayed at Appletons Farmhouse last week (October 21st 2010) for one night to break up my journey from Manchester to Barcelona travelling by road. The service I received was fantastic, the food was excellent and the hospitality was second to none. The area in which the guesthouse is situated is beautiful with open fields and farm land as far as the eye can see. I would thoroughly recommend a stay here.
