"My wife and I stayed in the city for the evening before driving north the next day and had a fun stay at the Golden Gate Hotel. The rooms were cozy, which was not a surprise given that this is a small older hotel, and we opted for the shared bathroom to save a bit. The hotel had so much character and the staff was as nice as they could be. The continental breakfast was tasty baked goods and coffee that we could not get enough of and the shared seating made the morning conversation with other guests a great way to start the day. The location was within walking distance of so many of the great San Fran hot spots like China Town, Telegraph Hill, Coit Tower, Union Square, Little Italy, Broadway, etc."
