    A Little Piece of Heaven

    This is definitely a B&B to stay at! The owners were wonderful, the food absolutely delicious, and breakfast conversations delightful! The farmhouse is utterly charming. From the hammock in the back yard I watched the sun as it rose early in the morning over the treeline while the birds and the farm animals could be heard in the background. It was such a relaxing experience! From wine tasting to hiking, to learning about history, there is plenty to do in the area but it is especially nice to find a home away from home.That is exactly how the owners make you feel - welcome at home!

    Amazing Stay

    My girlfriend and I needed a weekend away from it all and smithfield was perfect for that. The pictures don't do it justice, it's simply beautiful there! I've already recommended it to many of my friends and we plan on making this our yearly get-away.

    Quiet retreat!

    This is a lovely home, full of history, and such a hidden jewel. The inn keeper, Ruth, is such a delight and she makes one feel a part of the family. This is on a 400 acre substainable farm, thus the breakfast is as fresh as one could have. It is located away from urban chaos, so be prepared for the peace and quiet! It deserves a repeat stay.

    Our 50th Anniversary Gift

    This was a gift from our daughter - What a terrific gift! We had two nights of peaceful living on a beautiful farm, and... we were treated like family. Great food, great conversation, beautiful accommodations, and great fun to walk the farm and be close to the animals. I know we will return.

    Amazing Getaway

    We experienced wonderful hospitality this weekend at Smithfield Farms. The setting is beautiful and we were made to feel so much at home. Ruth is a wonderful hostess and we loved hearing the history of the house and farm. She even bottled some honey from their bee hives for us to take home. The room was so comfortable and large and there was even a fireplace in the bathroom. Breakfast was a dining occasion and delicious. We hope to return for another visit.

    My wife and I came here for a night for our 1st anniversary. I love old authentic places and the website did not do this place justice. The rooms were wonderfully authentic but also up-to-date. The grounds are truly beautiful. I very much liked the apple trees, koi pond, sheep and chickens. I am definitely coming back. The innkeeper was very courteous, and in a Virginia country way, informal and sweet natured. The food was very good and very fresh with the meat and eggs from the farm itself.
