Our Wilmington Inn experience was wonderful - everything you'd expect from a quaint New England Inn. Our room was lovely and the bed very comfortable. My husband skied while I stayed behind reading in the cozy lounge. Patrick couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating. He graciously kept the fire going and provided homemade cookies and cupcakes. Breakfast was also wonderful. The location in downtown Wilmington is also a big plus. We definitely will stay there again on our next trip to VT.

We've stayed at a couple of different places around Mount Snow but this is by the far the best. Welcoming and charming, the inn is beautifully appointed -- the guest rooms are tasteful and extremely comfortable, the common rooms have two (real) fireplaces, comfortable couches, and beautiful art. After a day of skiing, you can sit by the fire and read with complimentary hot cocoa, tea, coffee, and cookies, or play chess, pool, or other board games. The breakfast is phenomenal - a wide range of choices including omelets, frittatas, french toast, cooked and served in individual cast iron skillets. It is a short and easy walk into town to see the shops, and a 10-15 minute drive to Mt. Snow. Can't wait to return!

We've stayed here twice while skiing Mount Snow. It's conveniently located just a short (~15 minute) drive from the mountain. The service and breakfast are great. The rooms are very nice and clean. We enjoyed the whirlpool jacuzzi after long days on the slopes. The beds are also extremely luxurious and comfortable!!! We are trying to find the same comforter and pillows for our bed at home since we loved it so much! There is also a very cute and cozy common area on the ground level with a fireplace, pool table, darts, board games and a bar. The perfect place to stay on a Mt. Snow ski trip in my opinion!!!

I travel a lot for my job. Sometimes in remote areas there are no hotels, so I end up at a B&B. I always DREAD this, because I have had a lot of negative experiences with B&Bs in the past. (Weird, creepy, run down, etc.) Wilmington Inn & Tavern was the exact opposite of that. I still had reservations pulling up the driveway, but as soon as I opened the front door and saw the innkeepers dogs on the couch looking up at me (the most well-behaved, quiet, amazing dogs- p.s., am allergic to dogs but had no problems with these) I was immediately at ease. Wilmington Inn & Tavern epitomizes the ideal B&B experience. Patrick was amazing, very friendly and considerate. It was, hands down, the most tastefully decorated B&B I have ever stayed at. (No doilies, no dolls, none of that twee B&B nonsense.) My room was clean and comfortable. The common areas were also comfortable and WELCOMING- I did not feel at all awkward working in the common space. Patrick even lit a fire. I ended up reading by the fire with the smaller dog in my lap (he was friendly too). It was the happiest I had been all week and I am so thankful for everything Patrick did to make my stay comfortable. Breakfast was also amazing. Everything was fresh and delicious and there were so many great options I wasn't even sure what to choose. This is the only B&B I have ever stayed at that I would actively make an effort to return to if I was in the area in the future. TL,DR: A+, everything flawless, would strongly recommend, anyone giving them less than a perfect 5.0 is lying

My husband and I took a be-lated honeymoon purposely in the fall to see the changing of the leaves. Living in FL we don't get much of that and I've never experienced such an amazing display of God's creation. We certainly weren't disappointed to say the least. We stayed the first week of our 10-day vacation at the Wilmington Inn and Tavern and liked it so much we booked an extra night after a stint in New York City on the way back to the Burlington, VT airport. The Innkeeper, Patrick, and his family were delightful and he cooks an AWESOME breakfast (I tried everything on the menu and had the veggie skillet strata twice, although the pancakes were my absolute favorite). I would enthusiastically recommend this charming place to anyone I knew traveling to this area. It is homey and we were treated like family instead of just guests.

Stayed 2 nights and had the smallest room in the inn. However, the common areas are really comfortable and pleasant and Patrick could not have been more gracious and accommodating. Breakfast was delicious! We felt so welcomed and at home during our stay. A lovely weekend! We look forward to returning.

We stayed in the 'suite'. A bit pricey but nice to relax with a fireplace, sofa, large wood beam room and very comfortable king bed especially after touring VT and staying in small rooms and small beds.We thought "Tavern" also meant dinner but they don't serve dinner anymore despite postings on the VT B&B website and others that show pictures of white table cloth seating. The breakfast, however, is FABULOUS! Full service from a fabulous menu, unique and delicious! The tavern bar is open. We ate ate the "Anchor" good seafood and cocktails. Not much else in Wilmington at the crossroads of Rte 100 at Rte 9 but it was the perfect place to stop after driving south from Montpelier on Rte 100 one of Vermont;s prettiest drives during the 'leaf-peeping' season. Glad we reserved early as they were full mid-week. No AAA discount.

This is a wonderful B&B, in a quaint New England Village. The room and ambiance of the Inn are outstanding, and the Innkeeper is hospitable and helpful. Highly recommend the Wilmington Inn to anyone staying in the Mount Snow area, especially in the Fall Foliage and Ski Seasons. R&B, Bristol, CT

We only stayed one night and had I known more about the area and how lovely both the Inn and Innkeepers were I would have booked more nights. The Inn definitely exceeded my experiences! The room we stayed in was very nice, with a super comfy bed; the dark chocolates left on the nightstand were an excellent touch. We especially enjoyed the large living room area which was open for guest to enjoy. My husband and I relaxed, reading our books, playing with the Innkeepers dogs, and enjoyed complimentary tea and homemade chocolate chocolate-chip cookies. Breakfast was amazing and made me wish I had some cast-iron pans at home so I could try my hand at recreating the fresh veggie frittata I had. Cannot recommend enough and we hope to visit again!

This was a great B & B. We have stayed at other places in Wilmington and this was the nicest by far. The room was clean and the meals were great. We were part of a group of more than 20 people who stayed there and it was wonderful. This place is a keeper.

Kudos to both Rebecca, the hostess at The Wilmington Inn, and to the inkeepers. The staff was friendly and helpful, and our room was cozy, clean, and comfortable. The various sitting areas and inside/outside dining options make this an exceptionally pleasant place to relax. The inn is only a short walk to Wilmington's restaurants, shops and lovely scenery. The crowning of our stay was our delicious breakfasts. Rebecca is a talented chef who makes everything from scratch using fresh ingredients. We enjoyed an assortment of expertly made frittatas, and the blueberry pancakes were to die for. Rebecca also steered us to Three Stones Restaurant, a small Mayan/Mexican restaurant in Brattleboro; it was an excellent recommendation. If you’re looking for a comfortable, welcoming place with fabulous breakfasts, this is it.

We were charmed by the beautiful inn and the perfect location within walking distance of restaurants, cute shops and gorgeous scenery. The inn keepers were what made the experience extra special, though. They went above and beyond to make sure that we had the best room available (a $20 upgrade got us into a lovely suite!), wonderful restaurant recommendations and friendly conversation. The breakfast was superb and the common areas were lovely when we just wanted to hang out. All around, a great experience!

We really liked this place! we stayed in the Joseph Courtemanche Suite which was tastefully and cozily decorated. The bed was comfy, the fire place was great and the bathroom clean and big with a jacuzzi tub! they also had a hot tub outside for us to use. Jason and Alicia were super friendly and gave us lots of info on places to eat in town. I loved the fact they had a small bar in the living room/lobby area and Jason poured very graciously. Nice selection of Whiskeys! lots of books and games around to play too! The breakfast was fresh and delicious and the dinning room well spaced and nicely decorated too. would def go back!

Jason and Alicia are the best Inn Keepers. We had such a great time, the bar area in the Inn was a big plus, since we arrived and there was 18 inches of snow the day before, it helped not having to run out to eat or drink. They sent us to the best places to eat.The horse drawn carriage ride was amazing. I believe that the Inn and the World need more people like Jason and Alicia. Can't say more than, it was a great time. Miss being pampered....

Jason and Alicia made us feel like a welcomed guest right from the start! The two of them are wonderful innkeepers! We enjoyed talking and sharing with them, they were extremely helpful in guiding us on the next leg of our trip, even printed out the map and directions! They gave us many helpful tips. This was our 1st night of our week-long trip and we could not have started off any better, especially the next morning which was also our best breakfast of our whole trip, sitting by the fireplace! We loved the choices we had for our hot breakfast and both were spectacular! We hope to come again soon!

My husband and I rented two rooms for our family to stay in town as they had never before stayed at a bed and breakfast. We had not been at the Inn since it changed over from the Shutter--but it was better than ever! We spent a lot of time with our family while they were there because the rooms were so nice! John was very welcoming and made you feel like you were staying with family rather than at a strange place. The rooms were beautiful! Very clean, the beds EXTREMELY soft. It was the little touches that made things better, like the quilt patterns on the wall, the ceramic pitchers, the paintings--beautiful! Although there were a lot of people in the Inn, it was very quiet and my inlaws had a wonderful nights sleep. We had breakfast in the morning where John, his wife, and their son made breakfast. Breakfast was amazing! The best experience I have had by far. I highly recommend the Inn to any traveler--and local looking for a nice getaway or staycation!

The Wilmington has a lot of heart! I think thats the most important thing to any of these hotels. The owners and staff really go out of there way to make you feel welcome and the food is the best. If you want a good time to relex and eat, this is the place.

We recently spent 3 evenings at the Wilmington Inn while vacationing around southern Vermont. We stayed in the Molly Stark Suite. The room was spacious and comfortable. The bed and linens were luxurious. We had dinner one evening at the restaurant and breakfast all 3 mornings, which were all wonderful. The inn is set back from the road and against the woods, so very private-feeling. The room had a few minor maitenance issues (like peeling wallpaper, cracked plaster, etc), but nothing that distracted from our comfort. The grounds are certainly not "manicured" like many B&Bs, but it lends itself to the rural feel. Overall, would recommend wholeheartedly.

Top notch New England Inn! Very cute, clean and welcoming Inn, will definitely return. We loved the outdoor deck overlooking the river. The location is perfect, Wilmington is a small town with some nice local shops and restaurants. Close to hiking trails, Mt. Snow and Brattleboro. The food at the tavern is amazing. We had the roast chicken and vegetable risotto, highly recommend. A must visit restaurant if you're in the area!

My husband & I needed a get away; some time to regroup. We live in VT & chose to stay in-state. I selected the Wilmington Inn & Tavern after checking it out online. The owner John greeted us and checked us in to our room, explaining the amenities. He quickly found a small problem and committed to getting it fixed or let us know he would give us a credit on the room. (And he followed through on his commitment, which we appreciated.) Our room was as advertised, a comfy king-sized bed and sitting room with a TV/DVD. During our stay we ate several times at the Inn's restaurant and were always greeted promptly and seated immediately in the beautiful dining room. The waitstaff had answers for any questions regarding the menu options. Some of our favorites: the Maison-au-Gaufrettes appetizer, the Cajun Skillet breakfast and the house recipe pancakes (with blueberries & local syrup). We slept in, had leisurely breakfasts, and relaxed in our room until we were ready to go out. Any time we walked through the lobby John or his wife Rachel, and sometimes their son and his pal "owly", would greet us. Their staff know guests so well that some visitors are greeted or sent off with hugs and wishes for safe journeys until the next visit. It felt more like an old family manor than it did an inn. I am a pretty organized person about packing but by check-out time we were so relaxed that I left a few clothes in the closet in our room. I then left my water bottle by the guest book after I signed it. We drove home and my husband realized that he had left my shoes beside the car while he was packing the trunk! The owners are working on the inn as they go - upgrading items - you can see how lovely it's coming along. It is an old inn and while the room walls might let a little noise through, we slept comfortably, relaxed thoroughly (obviously), and were treated as friends the whole time we were there. I would definitely stay there again.

Jenn and I took a slow and winding trip west from Boston to southern VT for our first anniversary. What a find, this inn! After arriving, we relaxed on the front porch with a bottle of wine and a cribbage board. In the evening John recommended dinner at Apres Voux (one of three restaurants open after the Irene flooding). The place was packed, we waited an hour and well worth it. John was a terrific host and bartender as I enjoyed the NE Patriots game at the bar in the main house. Dinner at the Wilmington was a delicious treat. Since we've considered driving out and back just for dinner. We still talk about the bleu cheese and sage risotto cake. Thank you Ishmael. Our only regret that weekend was that we did not met Rachel. We'll make sure we get that chance when we go back for some skiing nearby at Mt Snow. -Scott & Jenn Matson, Boston

Wilmington Inn and Tavern A very nice inn, well located in the cute town of Wilmington. Our room (The Wilmington Room) was spacious and comfortable the food was truly exceptional and John and Rachel were excellent hosts. John was particularly helpful in checking out our onward route along the devastated Route 100. Happily the road crews had worked so hard that the whole of Route 100 was driveable by the time we left. The main dining room is wood panelled and very cosy. We ate in the inn both evenings and had two of the best meals in our whole vacation. On one of the nights a singer/guitarist performed as well and it made a memorable evening. There are a few little bits of maintenance that need attention but it would be ridiculous to criticise this when the owners have been trying so hard to help less fortunate residents in the town in the aftermath of Hurricane Irene. The town itself is coming back slowly to life and we very much hope that it will soon be thriving again. Overall – highly recommended. Bryan and Ann D. UK

I purchased a certificate for the Wilmington Inn on Buy-With-Me. It was a great value just the room alone would have been enough, but we also received a complimentary bottle of wine and FREE DINNER! The food at the Inn is some of the best food I have ever had in my life. I have been to many restaurants in my life and the chef at the Wilmington Inn has them all beat. The room was small but comfortable and had all of the necessary amenities. There was live music the first night and a wine tasting the second night, both were great. Overall I would come back to the Inn and recommend it to all of my friends.

The price was right, the food was good, the bed was great... but this place needs a good outside cleanup. Odds and ends strewn about, quite a collection of "stuff" piled against the far side of the building, a few projects started with good intentions and seemingly dropped and little attention paid to weeding and landscaping. The place has GREAT potential but needs some follow through.

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Wilmington Inn for a nice weekend away and were very impressed . We stayed in the Windham room which was very nice and had everything we needed for a pleasant stay. As we walked to our room we passed the garden growing some of the food we would be eating for dinner the next night. At dinner we ordered the Farmer's Feast which was delicious and very affordable. Our waitress recommended some excellent wine to pair with the food to create an excellent evening. The included breakfast was also excellent.

My boyfriend and I were very impressed with our stay at The Wilmington Inn last weekend. Our room was pristine, complete with a seperate sitting room with a fireplace, as well as a large whirlpool tub in the bathroom. The innkeepers, John and Rachel, were very welcoming and made our stay all the more enjoyable. The dinner we had at the Inn's own restaurant was by far the best meal we had on our trip. We asked around town where to eat after having already eaten there, and most suggested we try The Wilmington Inn! Mount Snow was a short drive from the Inn, as well as area antique shops and restaurants. We enjoyed the new pillow-top beds and the friendliness of our hosts. Rachel and John purchased the Inn in October 2009, and have made a number of improvements. They also changed the name from the Red Shutter in to the Wilmington Inn. They hired a wonderful chef, so we ate there 3 different nights! We were pleased to have air-conditioning, since the temperatures were above average. The owners plan further improvements. Our room air conditioner was old and noisy, and the previous guest had walked off with the TV remote, but we know that those things will be remedied. Our hostess makes a wonderful Mojito (but not for breakfast!). The bedroom and the bath were small, and there was no closet, but we chose an inexpensive room and were quite satisfied. We enjoyed walking around the little town of Wilmington, and enjoyed its fabulous location, close to the Marlboro Chamber Music Festival, Brattleboro and Bennington Vermont as well as the Clark Institute, Mass MoCA, and Shelburne Falls and Williamstown, Massachusetts. We will stay at the Inn again!

I stayed at the Red Shutter Inn last weekend when we were going snowshoeing in the neighboring Green Mountains and Snowboarding on Mount Snow. My room was very clean and felt modern (new pottery barn-like light fixtures and carpet, luxurious sheets and puffy comforters and pillows) yet held the charm of a perfect Vermont Inn with matching maple antique headboard and bureau. The complementary breakfast was delicious and made to order with farm-fresh eggs, bacon, sausage and yummy blueberry pancakes with real maple syrup. We had fun choosing from huge tea selection including organic loose teas put in Vermont's Danforth Pewter tea strainers that we received in our own pots while we sat by either the gas fireplace or the window waiting for our breakfasts. In the evening the fire in the lobby area was roaring as we had a drink at the full stocked bar (including Lake Champlain chocolates to nibble on!). The next night the chef made us creamy hot chocolate with homemade whipped cream as we partook in the assortment of board games available for guests. The inn is located right in town and we liked being able to walk to the little town's restaurants, shops and bakery. The Innkeepers were super nice and helpful- we will definitely return.

My friend and I stayed at the Red Shutter Inn on February 16th for one night. We arrived early and were greeted by one of the owners, Rachael, who was kind enough to let us drop our belongings off so we could head off to ski for the day and then return later that day to "officially" check into our room. Upon our arrival in the afternoon, we checked into the room and made ourselves comfortable in the cozy bar/fireplace area. The staff was very helpful and friendly and addressed our needs which we appreciated. The owners (Rachael & John) had recently taken over this Inn and were diligently making positive changes to the Inn to enhance it. It has a lot of charm and is conveniently located in Wilmington, not far from Mount Snow and near some nice eateries in town. Their staff was very helpful in providing us with information and assistance about the area. The room we stayed in was clean and the beds were very comfortable...I slept like a baby that evning after having 2 of the specialty drinks called Razmataz. The next day we checked out to find that the snow had been brushed off our car in the morning which was very nice! We look forward to dining in the restaurant next time which was not open the night we were there due to a private function. However, we did have a great breakfast and the opportunity to sample some great appetizers and one of the dinner menu items during our stay which was delicious! We look forward to staying there again in the future and would recommend this Inn to friends and family!

My husband and I recently spent the weekend at the Red Shutter Inn in Wilmington, VT. The new owners were terrific and very welcoming. We were asked repeatedly if we needed anything. They are doing some updates to the Inn, but have kept the charm in tact. The breakfasts each morning were excellent! I would recommend a stay at this Inn and will return.

The red shutter inn is a really cute place right in the village nearby Mt. Snow. The inn keepers were very friendly and helpful. I slept through breakfast (only served from 8-9), so I can't really speak about the dining, but there's a certain unique charm to the place. The sign on the road is difficult to spot and I drove by it without noticing it. We stayed in one of the smaller rooms in the main house, which was small but cute. My only real complaint is the close quarters of the rooms to one another that results in some lacking in the privacy department.

Thanks for your feedback! Yes, you stayed in our smallest room, the Chimney Hill, that is tight quarters but tight on the budget as well. We do have a number of spacious rooms, however: JC Suite, Molly Stark, Apple Hill, and the Wilmington. Again, thank you for your feedback.
