Grunberg Haus has a wonderful charm. The service is excellent, warm, and they make you feel right at home. The rooms are simple and nastalgic. I would come back again!

We've stayed here twice; once in the fall with our dog (they allow dogs in the separate cabin rooms on the hillside in summer & fall) and once in the winter with our two sons in the main inn for a ski trip. Both times, we enjoyed our stay--everything was super clean, the innkeepers were extremely helpful, and didn't mind that we had to arrive late after driving six hours from New York. There is a small network of hiking trails on the property--good for a short x-c ski or snowshoeing. Lots of charm. Has good wi-fi; no TV, rooms are small, but close to good restaurants & exactly half way between Sugarbush and Stowe. Excellent value.

From the moment I stepped in to this B&B I knew I had made a mistake by not paying attention to some of the earlier reviews I had read online. Their website pictures are either from earlier ownership or the current owners are so burned out and broke they haven't done anything to the place for some time. The owner Jeff was like an automaton who wanted to give us his spiel and then get back to whatever he had that needed more attention. There was no smile, no "welcome" or any gesture of . We had booked a cabin and when we entered, I immediately noticed the moldy smell in the room, which Jeff explained by saying that it had gotten cold the night before so trey had closed the windows. I proceeded to open them and put in screens while he stood there talking about how to operate the wood stove. Never offered to assist. The bed cover looked like it hadn't been washed in weeks. The bathroom smelled of urine so we took of the cover and put it in a corner, sprayed the room with freshener, turned on the fan and went out for dinner hoping that it would be better when we got back. No such luck! Next morning we were resolved to leave since I woke up with a sinus headache - no doubt due to the mold in the room. I showered, toweled off with another moldy linen and went down. I informed Linda that we were leaving a day earlier than planned. I checked out only to find that she had charged for an extra night. When I asked why, her response was" You read the contract!" Jeff and Linda have no idea what Vermont is all about despite their being there for 12 years. I lived in Vermont for 11 years and these people are a disgrace to a community that is known for its welcoming friendliness and warmth. This was, unfortunately, a terrible ending to one of the best vacations I have ever taken. Don't ruin yours!

I just loved staying here. Linda, the female half of the couple running the place, was delightful and her breakfasts were simple and tasty. The rooms were charming and gave the impression of being outside while inside. The hosts stay at their own home, detached from the guest rooms, so there was a feeling of privacy. Quaint and perfect. Would totally return.

My 4 Children (ages 20 to 28 ) and I stayed at the Grunberg Haus. We had never stayed at a bed and breakfast before. It wasn't stuffy like the hotel chains and we got a real breakfast. Which was wonderful by the way. The owners were real nice and gave tour tips and great directions. If you miss this place while in Vt. you will be missing something good. I am only sorry we could only stay one night. Thanks for the great time. The Weisschadel's

It was great to relax at the Grunberg Haus after staying in b&bs that were overstuffed with crystal and china. Grunberg Haus is comfortable but informal, a great place to stay up late reading, toast marshmallows in the fireplace, watch the birds outside the common room windows, and explore Vermont. The hosts are so nice. I had a room in the house but next time will book a cabin!
2,8 out of 5Noisy place

Beautiful looking place in a very accessable neighbourhood. But very snoty owners. If you stay 10 mins beyond 11 am, they will come to your room and very rudely tell you to get out now, that too for 130 dollars a night. Three floors in the building and unless you are on the top floor, very hard to sleep as you can hear all the people walking and even talking above you. Breakfast was pancake eggs, it was good but I wished they had one more serving. I recommend staying only if you can get the top floor (remember you have to climb three floors, no elevator) and you dont care about a rude innkeeper if you stay 5 mins longer than 11 am.
