what can I say-- The third time at the schooler house bed and breakfast. The rooms are out of this world (beautiful, exciting, cleaner than clean, and classy). If you want a real treat stay at the schooler house. Andi will make you a wonderful breakfast that you won't forget. You will feel at home at the schooler house. You are close to everything shops, food and places of interest.

Where to start? The house is beautiful from the outside, the garden not only tidy and attractive but inspiring. The house has a rich history that our hostess, Andi recounted--her knowledge of the history of the area is a wonderful asset! The rooms were well appointed, everything beautiful and sparkling. The bed was deliciously comfortable. We had breakfast in the back garden the next morning and it was wonderful to sit and enjoy the fantastic food by the babble of the water feature. Great location. I would stay at The Schooler House B&B again and again.

We held my daughter's wedding at the Schooler House last Saturday. The event included the ceremony, a cake and sparkling cider reception and a night's stay and breakfast for the happy couple. The Gablers went over and above to make it a special day, the kids were very happy, and everyone agreed it could not have been done better. Great value, great service, I highly recommend the Schooler House!!

We are local to Fredericksburg, and were having a hard time finding the right spot for our very small (6 guest) wedding. The Schooler House was perfect! Andi was very cooperative with what we wanted, and the decorations were lovely! The house and antiques are stunning, and our ceremony in the parlor was perfect. The garden had some very interesting details for portraits afterwards, and was beautiful even in February. Overall, it was a perfect day!

This little B&B is immaculately clean, very comfortable and perfectly situated for a wonderful walking tour of Fredericksburg, if you are so inclined. Andi and her husband Paul are wonderful hosts. They are extremely warm and welcoming. After just a few minutes, you are sure you made the right choice to stay there. Our breakfast was delicious and it was fun to be served on Andi's antique china, silver and crystal. We fully intend to return in the spring to take advantage of Andi's hospitality, local knowledge and gardening skills while we further explore that charming little city.

Fantastic!! The Schooler B&B was amazing. We felt so welcome. I was prepared to find a hotel and hunker down for the night and be happy with my “free” shampoo and bagel in the morning, but on a whim I called some B&Bs I found on the internet. The other place I called was full. Oh thank you fate¿ The Schooler House was warm and inviting. We had plenty of privacy but could roam the house as we pleased if we wanted to mingle or find an area of the house to sit in and visit. The restoration of the home was meticulous. Every door, window, and piece of trim was perfect. The antiques were adorable as well. It was awesome to see the appreciation for history and hospitality. Breakfast was amazing! The best Earl tea I have had in a long time. I hope Anita can create a frequent flyer card for us. Thank you for an amazing stay. A&J

My husband and I stayed at The Schooler House in late July; we stay at B&Bs fairly often. Andi waved at us from the yard even before we parked the car and that set the tone for our stay. Upon entering, the house looks very "formal Victorian", but Andi is anything but formal. She immediately gave us a tour of the house and pointed out we were welcome throughout (except for private quarters, of course). Andi recommended several area restaurants, all within walking distance. She is knowledgeable about the history of the town and is very supportive of her local area. We enjoyed a bottle of wine after dinner in the parlor while we perused the 19th century autograph books. The room itself is very comfortable and quite sizable; the bath is huge and has all the amenties. I loved being able to snuggle into a spa robe and sit in the separate sitting room overlooking the street. Breakfast is wonderful - we especially enjoyed the fresh fruit & whipped cream with scones!! We highly recommend The Schooler House and it's welcoming hosts.

What a great place to stay for a perfect get away. A real treasure tucked in downtown Fredericksburg. An easy and quick walk to shops and restaurants in the charming small town. You can go wrong in this lovely B&B. The hosts Andi and Paul go above and beyond to make your stay memorable with their hospitality and attention to detail. Lovely breakfasts and the most comfortable rooms. If you are looking for a cozy and central location you can't go wrong at The Schooler House. Explore the town or just curl up with a book by the fire and you will be sure to enjoy your stay!

My husband and I were traveling from NJ to SC and traffic was bad on 95. Fredericksburg was the nearest town as the sun was setting. I grabbed the laptop and after looking at several B&B's in the area we found The Schooler House. The other B&B's didn't feel right. Some were really "lacy" and some a bit "stuffy" and not really our style. In the pictures online, The Schooler House looked beautiful, cozy, full of history, and… there was a fireplace. It was just what we were looking for on a cold December night. We gave a call and Andi said she had space for us for the evening. When we arrived the front yard, even in the middle of December, was beautiful! We walked inside and were surrounded with so much history and many fascinating antiques. The house is BEAUTIFULLY restored. Andi gave us a tour, filled us in on the house's history, and shared some stories about the history of Fredericksburg. She walked us to our room and it was perfect. Really, just what we were looking for. A large bed, a working fireplace, many amazing antiques, a sitting room with a fabulous rocking chair and many mirrors (this room was even more stunning when the sunlight came in the next day), and a large bathroom with a great shower. We loved it! We felt very comfortable and relaxed. The next morning we woke and Andi made an outstanding breakfast. I don't eat meat and my husband doesn't eat eggs, which is difficult, but she took our needs into consideration (we greatly appreciated it) and everything she made was quite tasty. We had such a relaxing and lovely evening we decided to spend another night! Andi gave us many suggestions about what we may want to see while we were in Fredericksburg. We had a great day walking around the town, checking out the little shops, reading historical markers, and exploring the battlefield. We had a wonderful time at The Schooler House and in Fredericksburg. Andi is a wonderful host and chef. My husband and I look forward to returning in the near future.

The Schooler House was the perfect “secret destination surprise” for my wife’s special birthday” gift! I chose The Schooler House because it exemplifies the old homes and gardens of Fredericksburg, VA, and because there is so much to see and do within easy strolling distance. No black balloons, no crowds, or uncomfortable parties ... but a sweet quiet retreat on a tree lined historic street, a comfortable quaint home with a warm welcoming host, private backyard garden, heart pine floors and stairs, character and an yummy full breakfast. We checked in early (2 PM) then strolled across the street to tour “The Rising Sun Tavern” that was built by one of George Washington’s brothers. Within 30 feet of the front door we stepped back in time 250 years, welcomed by costumed “tavern workers” as docents. Then we walked through historic Fredericksburg, so saturated in Revotionary War and Civil War history. The main streets are full of browsable shops: antiques, boutiques, Irish, music, wine and garden shops, and restaurants: Irish, French, Thai, Colonial, and coffee shops. We left our car at the B.& B. and walked, browsed ‘til 6:30 PM, then made our restaurant selection. We slept well. A perfect elegant, refreshing yet affordable get-away. My wife was delighted with The Schooler House “surprise” getaway.
