A beautiful house with a rich history, an immaculate and well appointed room, a scrumptious breakfast and welcoming and knowledgeable hosts, Katherine and Bruce. I can not of anything that could have been better during our visit. If you want a true Southern Experience with stellar service, make Bloomsbury Inn your next B&B destination.

My wife and I both thoroughly enjoyed our recent visit to the Bloomsbury Inn in historic Camden, SC. Bruce and Katherine were very gracious hosts and provided a delightful social hour with an excellent explanation of the local history and restaurants. The rooms were large, very clean and well decorated with period antiques. The breakfast was delishous and plentiful. We wll return to this great B&B soon.

Bloomsbury Inn is an amazing hidden gem in Camden,SC. It truly felt like a home away from home. Bruce and Katherine are the most hospitable hosts. I was spoiled every morning by the delicious breakfasts that Katherine prepared. A glass of wine and great conversation on the porch in the early evening was a great way to wind down after a long day and get ready for dinner at some great restaurants close by. I highly recommend staying at this beautiful home - not only is it very comfortable, but Katherine and Bruce have decorated it with some amazing art that compliments the grandeur of the house itself.

We stayed at the Bloomsbury Inn last week as we headed north for the summer. It was everything that all the reviewers said and more. Bruce greeted us as we arrived early and throughout our stay graciously answered all our questions as if they were the first time he had ever been asked them. The man is a fount of information about local lore, Civil War history and the best places Camden has to offer. The inn itself has been so lovingly restored. Antique lovers will think that they have died and gone to heaven. Katharine's breakfasts are amazing and will be fondly remembered as we diet off the extra pounds. This was one of the best inns we have ever stayed in. I foresee that Camden will be on our route where ever we travel in future!

My sister and I visit each other twice a year and decided to spend a weekend at the Bloomsbury Inn, our first time at a bed and breakfast. We arrived on a Friday afternoon and departed two days later on Sunday afternoon. The Monday after, I still was enjoying the wonderful glow of feeling relaxed and happy from our true vacation. My life is the typical work full-time and a part-time job, wife, mother, cook, gardener and taking care of my husband going through cancer operations and is now in radiation therapy. I forgot all about my responsibilities, enjoyed the time with my sister and we both could not believe the total feeling of relaxation created by staying at Bloomsbury's. Bruce and Katherine Brown, the owners, deserve the best ratings for what they have accomplished by restoring the 1849 mansion into a bed and breakfast inn. The hot gourmet breakfast, the 5:30PM social hour and learning some Civil War history fill out the package. Thanks for the wonderful experience.

My wife and I recently spent two nights at Bloomsbury Inn. Our expectations were high based on what we saw on the website. We must say that our visit indeed exceeded those expectations. No complaints whatsoever. Bruce and Katherine are exceptional hosts. The food, the room, the atmosphere of the Inn, the hospitality all were outstanding. If you want a quality stay, come to Bloomsbury! Jonathan Doss

Congenial and knowledgeable host and hostess, comfortable and attractive accommodations and scrumptious breakfast make for an extraordinary experience! We've been reading Mary Chesnut's diary, and were excited when we learned that one of her and James's homes had become a B&B. Never having been to Camden, we were not entirely sure what to expect. Our 2-night stay at Bloomsbury was absolutely delightful in every respect. The house has been thoroughly renovated, with respect for its history, and decorated with antiques Katherine has collected over many years of military postings around the world. Bruce and Katherine are charming hosts. They were always available and informed, but never intrusive. Breakfast both mornings was a gourmet affair. We were even allowed to bring a guest one morning. The pre-dinner social on the veranda is another very nice touch. Bruce knew that we were interested in the history of the place, so he set aside 90min for a well informed lecture and Q&A session the first morning. Later he gave us a tour of the house and grounds. Overall, they've done everything right. Highly recommended.

Dearest Bruce and Katherine, We set up a two night stay at Bloomsbury Inn for the wedding photographer, BethanyK Photography, for our daughter's wedding. Bethany and her husband are two really sweet individuals as well as wonderful photographers. She commented to me that she loved her accommodations. In fact, she told me that even though we live in Camden, we should still take the opportunity to spend a night or two with you at Bloomsbury Inn. She told me she loved the breakfast and all aspects of her stay. Thank you for your kindnesses to them and for maintaining such a lovely bed and breakfast. Priscilla Robinson

We made reservations only a day before our arrival and the last question Bruce asked me before we got off the phone was, "Do you have any special dietary concerns?" Two mornings later we are sitting in the lovely dining area of the Bloomsbury Inn enjoying a gluten-free breakfast highlited by a crust less quiche. Kathryn has definitely found her calling as an exquisite hostess.

My family and I tend to seek out historic properties when traveling. I'm always hoping the accommodations will be as described; however, Bloomsbury Inn far exceeded our expectations. Ture perfection! I don't know exactly where to start….the house is in perfect condition, the room was well appointed and clean as well as comfortable and beautiful. The breakfast and tablescape were original and lovely. The afternoon social was genuine and fun. I couldn't believe the interest Katherine and Bruce took in my teenage daughter. My impression of the Inn and of Camden could earn me a spot on the Chamber of Commerce! Everything was top notch. Katherine and Bruce, or should I say Colonels, thank you for a lovely visit. We look forward to returning to Bloomsbury Inn.

Southern hospitality and charm are at their finest with Bruce and Katherine. The entire inn is well appointed and tastefully decorated. Don't miss breakfast, especially Katherine's home made biscuits in the skillet. Afternoon wine and hors d'oeuvres on the front poarch is a great time to get to know Bruce and Katherine as well as the other guests. Be sure to have Bruce make dinner reservations for you at the Mill Pond Steakhouse.

I highly recommend for anyone visiting Camden as it was a very nice chance from my normal travel routine.

We stayed at the Bloomsbury Inn in July of 2013. We were pleasantly surprised and impressed by its stately appearance and privacy as well as the surrounding properties. Bruce and Kathy Brown are terrific innkeepers and career military retirees. They took great pleasure and pride in educating us about the inn's history, providing quintessential service during our stay and interspersing our meals and teas with humerous anecdotes. Our room was spaciousness, beautifully furnished, and comfortable beyond our expectations. It was wonderful to sleep in a truly historic place. The food at the Inn was tasteful, abundant, and well presented. It was also great to mingle with the other guests during our time there. The Bloomsbury Inn is one of the best B&Bs we have had the pleasure to stay at. It has much to offer - privacy, high quality food and service and a fun time. We highly recommend it to discerning travelers and to anyone looking for a great weekend retreat. Dominic and Toni Principe (Mount Pleasant, SC)

From the time you drive up under the grand oak canopy and climb the stairs to one of the most beautiful and comfortable porches you can imagine, you know you are in for a treat at the Bloomsbury! Bruce, Katherine and Miss Kitty Stray greet you warmly and usher you into a beautifully appointed home. The care taken to adapt this home and hide all the modern amenities means you have every creature comfort in an atmosphere of quiet elegance. Hospitality includes an afternoon wine reception (on the porch, weather permitting), homemade treats and port in your room and the best B&B breakfast we have experienced. Katherine should write a cookbook! Looking forward to another visit when the hydrangeas bloom in early summer. Cannot recommend the Bloomsbury high enough!

We did a last minute booking at the grandest B&B that we had ever stayed in in any part of the US. The value for the space, food, and all other amenities was excellent! Bruce and Katherine do a phenominal job of treating you like royalty. These folks know everything that there is to know in this industry and are glad to take time to talk and share their knowledge. It was NO surprise that they had won numerous awards. If you are a person that ever considered owning and running a B&B this is hands down the only couple in the nation to call for complete details as to how it is done successfully! They can immediately connect with B&B's that are up for sale and advice on the pro's and con's of each. Amazing knowledge, with an extreme willingness to share. Call them and you will be overjoyed that you did. We look forward to a future visit to this home. ENJOY, Michael Smith

We booked this inn as a stop on our way to western Virginia to visit family. The inn is in an beautiful home with grounds to match. The room was excellent with a bathroom that was quite small and a bit difficult to navigate. The outside porch is an outstanding feature. Bruce and KT are excellent innkeepers. The afternoon wine and cheese on the porch and the breakfast are highlights and opportunities to visit with the other guests. Breakfast was posh and excellent. This past weekend was the first time my wife has felt comfortable going barefoot in a b & b or motel. We have been traveling for some 45 years and staying in b & bs for the last 30 or so years. Most have been clean. Bloomsbury was spotless. What a nice surprise. The house itself was carefully restored and filled with period (not original) furniture. Meals (breakfast) was very good. They did not have excessive amounts like some b & bs, but it was certainly plenty. Katherine also respected our dietary restrictions without making a big deal of it. Coffee, juice and tea was very tasty. Normally, I don't enjoy spending time with inn keepers very much. Small talk just does not really interest me. Bruce and Katherine were different -- they seemed like instant friends. Bruce had non-stop stories and was very entertaining. He knows the history of the Bloomsbury Inn probably as well as anyone alive. He also has some great Air Force stories. Before we checked out, I made reservations for another visit in September. I believe this is the very first b & b we will have visited twice. If you want a nice weekend, you can choose about any b & b. If you want an outstanding visit, you must choose Bloomsbury Inn.

My wife and I have stayed at lot of B & B's in the Carolinas and the Bloomsbury Inn has set the bar for us. We had a couple of requests of Bruce and Katherine before we even arrived, that was to drop off our luggage early and to maybe have a late night snack waiting for us when we got back from a full day at an event in the area. The Browns where very gracious and did not hesitate in for filling both our requests, with warmth and smiles, I might add. Along with the personal attention, the Bloomsbury Inn has been doted on buy the Browns and their attention to detail makes it very easy to transport you back through time to the 1800's with all the elegance and luxury for that period of our Country, and at the same time provide for all the modern conveniences that any luxury Hotel would give. They have stuck a great balance with comfort and charm. After a great night’s sleep, we arose to a gourmet breakfast made by Katherine and Bruce, and enjoyed the company and conversation with other guests of the Inn and the Browns. These are the things that set apart memories of making new friends and discovering the colorful tapestry of life or just another overnight stay. When you spend a little time with Bruce and Katherine you quickly find out their devotion to the service of others and Country and they make you feel special and pampered at their 5 star Bloomsbury Inn. We will return to this Inn and Camden, as a destination unto itself. Thank you, Bruce and Katherine for your kindness! With Warmth, David and Margo Sears

We are in the process of relocating to Camden and decided to familiarize ourselves with our new community by staying in the center of the historic district. We chose the Bloomsbury Inn based on Tripadvisor reviews and are pleased to add to the long list of accolades for this wonderful property. The inn has been lovingly and painstakingly restored by the owners, Katherine and Bruce Brown. The furnishings are exquisite. The grounds are beautiful and the porch is graced by the sweet cat, Miss Kitty. Katherine and Bruce hold an evening social, serving hors d'oevres, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages. The coffee service on the landing by the guest suites is a nice touch. The crowning glory was the remarkable gourmet breakfasts cooked and served by the hosts. Our fondest memories come from our conversations with Bruce and Katherine-- their wealth of knowlege regarding local history and the history of the home and its occupants added a wonderful rich layer to our experience. Recently visited in October 2012 and this was a destination event with several of the guests regular visitors and nearly as enjoyable as the hosts. Bruce and Katherine hold a social hour or two at 530 and provides a great chance to try some wine and get color on the local area. Camden is a beautiful town with an extraordinary collection of homes and plenty to do in the area. Local restaurants provide some great options for foodies ranging from the local bbq spot Hancocks to up-scale dining. Downtown is Camden is compact but fund with antique shops, cafes, and nice people. Bruce and Katherine are absolutely gracious and charming and the Bloomsbury Inn is stunningly preserved and fun to relax.

From the charm of the home to the excellent service provided by the hosts this has to be the best B&B at which I have ever stayed. The food is award winning. Bruce, Katherine and Miss Kitty pay attention to all of the details that make a guest fee welcome, pampered and "at home". Wine on the porch each afternoon is a wonderful way to wind down after a day of activities. There were also excellent suggestions for things to do, places to see and restaurants to try. I cannot over-recommend this B&B as a destination. It is a home away from home! I will definitely find a way to return. Michael Ash

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay from beginning to end. What an amazing home, town, history, and innkeepers.!! Would recommend you to everyone!! Bruce and Katherine were amazing hosts and the historical tour for guests was amazing. Bruce took over an hour to share this amazingly historic home and it's restoration process they had been through. The cantelope "soup" was wonderful, as was the rest of the breakfast!

My wife and I had an enjoyable stay at the Inn last week and thoroughly enjoyed what a B&B should really reflect in a a quick get-away or vacation. Bruce and Katherine are first rate hosts and do everything possible to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The afternoon social was a in a true southern setting and was one of the highlights for us. The tour and history behind the inn was fascinating and a pleasure to experience. This was only our second visit, but it will not be our last one. Thank you.

How do you describe a truly wonderful, relaxing, and incredible weekend! When you drive up, it’s like stepping back into time! This magnificently restored home is beyond description. You can tell that the Innkeepers, Bruce and Katherine Brown, have put their heart and soul into creating a unique Bed and Breakfast with the warm hospitality and the charm of the South. The evening social on the “veranda” was perfect, especially listening to Innkeeper Bruce Brown talk about the history of the house, of Camden, and of the issues of that time. Our room was spacious, very comfortable, and spotless. And breakfast was a gourmet delight! Innkeeper Katherine Brown made an exquisite breakfast from many items gathered from local farmers or that she made from scratch…the old fashion way! We would highly recommend the Bloomsbury Bed and Breakfast experience to everyone! We definitely look forward to our next opportunity!

Brought the ashes of my mother to her final resting place outside of Camden and stayed at Bloomsbury Inn for the weekend. Wonderful accomodations and Bruce and Katherine could not have made us feel more welcome, even inviting our daughter to join us for breakfast each morning; she was staying at another hotel. Thanks for your southern hospitality.

The reviews are spot on! I had no idea where to stay in Camden and fortunately found Bloomsbury. This is a gorgeous home with superb hosts. My only regret is that I could not stay longer than one night, I would have loved to have more conversations regarding the history of the locale and the fascinating lives of the hosts. If I am ever in the area again I will be staying at Bloomsbury Inn!

My husband and I stayed at the Bloomsbury Inn last month and had an absolutely delightful stay! Our host and hostess made us feel right at home as did their darling porch kitty, Miss Kitty Stray (just one of the many photo-ops at the home!) Breakfasts were scrumptious and enormous. Since breakfast is our favorite meal, we could not have been happier. The wine and cheese hour was so welcoming, and we felt like we were not guests but part of the family. The tour of the house and the history was absolutely fascinating. Bruce had so many details about it that you felt like you had been in the house during its amazing history. The yard is so lovely, and the house is beautifully appointed. Chocolate chip cookies and a chocolates on our pillows were perfect finishing touches. Heartily recommend this Inn.

I stayed at the Inn in July 2012 for one night and had an early morning start the following day so missed the normal breakfast and house tour. I was delighted with my stay and will return on my next trip to this region. The room was lovely, well appointed and the bed comfortable and great for a restful night sleep. I made use of the available wi-fi and enjoyed greatly the evening meet and greet with the hosts and my fellow guests. What a delightful couple they are - well educated, well traveled and well suited to welcoming travelers from far and wide. Having to leave before 7am, I was met with a wonderful to-go breakfast and coffee as well as a goodie bag to sustain me through the day. The extra mile! I also enjoyed the company of the cat on the porch - a delightful feature!

We had such a wonderful experience that it seems folly to use words to describe our stay. My wife and I received a 3 night romantic stay at Bloomsbury for our 30 th anniversary. I was skeptical about entering and staying in someone elses home, but upon our arrival at Bloomsbury we were kindly greeted by Bruce who helped us with luggage and escorted us to our room. And yes the breakfasts that are prepared by Bruce and Katherine are over the top. Bruce and Katherine are two of the kindest warm hearted people that I have ever met they made us feel as they had known us for years. We will definately be staying again at Bloomsbury and are recommending this B&B to all of our friends and family. Chip & Linda Hoover

We stayed 2 nights in June - 1st time in Camden which is steeped in history... Bloomsbury Inn was a welcome haven of tranquility, comfort and relaxation - from the time Bruce met us and helped with our bags, to the aperitif offered to help us relax, to the huge comfy bed, to the sumptuous breakfasts - we felt thoroughly looked after and welcome in this beautiful home. Would love to visit again...soon! Thank you Bruce and Katherine!

This was a spur of the moment trip to visit my uncle and I am now so thankful that there was room at the Bloomsbury Inn for me. While I was the only person occupying the room, Bruce and Katherine graciously allowed my uncle to attend the 'social time' with me as well as joining me for breakfast the following morning. The breakfast was fresh, wonderful and more than plentiful. If you walked away hungry, it was your own fault. I stayed in the Sally Chestnut room and loved it. It was very large and comfortable in every way. I must note that I only rated a 3 star for cleanliness because it met my expectations for clean. The entire Inn was very clean, but that's what I expect at any establishment I choose to stay. So, I'm not sure what would cause me to rate any place higher than that and that's a good thing. Because there are clear reasons why I would rate something 'okay' or 'unsatisfactory' and this Inn is better than that. Every room was tidy and I didn't notice any dirt or dust at all. I'm planning to go back to Camden in a couple of months with my husband and will definitely want to stay at the Bloomsbury Inn!

Traveling from the northeast to the southeast is a change not just in weather but in culture. Bloomsbury Inn offers the best in southern hospitality. Gracious hosts open their beautifully restored home to those of us who are in need of peace and quiet. The outside surroundings invite you to sit and rock on the porch or find a quiet seat in a flowering garden. Katherine's expert hands produce a delicious gourmet breakfast while Bruce shares historical details of the house and the Camden area, including delicious restaurant options. Five o'clock beckons guests and innkeepers to come together for interesting conversation along with fine wine, cheese and crackers. Each guest room is lovingly detailed and very comfortable. We also enjoyed delicate port provided in the privacy of each room. The bathrooms are Italian tile original to early 20th century representing the colors popular at the time and including fine bathroom essentials. Actually, we even love the beautiful Deneen Pottery mugs, which can be purchased to remind one of the lovely memories of an Inn stay of the highest quality. Thank you K & B--we look forward to returning.

Our recent stay in Bloomsbury Inn was the ultimate B&B experience! From the warm welcome on the front veranda to the fond farewell in the grand hallway....the experience was devine and left us wanting more!! We arrived in time for the evening social, where we enjoyed lively conversation with the Browns and the other guests. The entire home is beautifully decorated and lovingly prepared with the guests' comfort in mind.. The chocolates on the pillows were an added treat, and the linens were devine!! The gourmet breakfast was delicious down to the last drop of their wonderfully blended coffee which was enjoyed while Bruce gave a well researched history of the home and its owners . The Camden area is entrenched with Civil War history which made Bruce's talk even more interesting!!! Before our departures, we all enjoyed the top to bottom tour of the home followed by a stroll through the beautiful gardens. This is when we saw the original kitchen house and carriage house., both restored to their original state. The innkeepers have thought of everything to make their guests' stay more enjoyable! We applaud Katherine and Bruce's hard work at making their dream of owning a B&B a reality, and we're very happy to have enjoyed a short visit with them

Not only was the home beautiful and impeccably decorated, but Bruce and Katherine went above and beyond the expected. Our neighbours recommended Bloomsbury to us. It's not far from Charlotte NC where we live. We were only there one night, unfortunately, but it was a wonderful experience. We stayed in the Mary Chestnut room which was truly beautiful. The whole Bloomsbury property was gorgeous! A lovely and relaxing B&B in a historic 1849 Plantation home. Very friendly innkeepers, Kathleen and Bruce Brown, both retired USAF officers. Four lovely guest rooms on the 2nd floor, each with a full private bath. Lovely common rooms and expansive front porch for relaxing. Tasty breakfasts according to my wife. (I had to leave early each day and missed breakfast, but Kathleen packed me a to go lunch as a convenience.) Innkeeper Bruce Brown provided an interesting history of Bloomsbury, the family who built it and the families who have lived there. He also led us on a basement to attic tour of the home, the original separate kitchen building, and the shaded grounds - over 400 azaleas, roses, live oaks, and Spanish moss. Interesting history in and around Camden. Highly recommended.

If you have ever wanted the experience of life in an antebellum mansion, your dream is now within reach. The beauty, glamour, and comfort of a bygone era beckon. You will also be pleased to have every thoroughly modern amenity at your fingertips. Open the door to Katherine and Bruce Brown's Bloomsbury Inn and step into the life of privilege and luxury of South Carolina's famed Chesnut family, which included a leading planter, a U.S. Senator and Confederate General, and the author of one of the most revered works in American literature: Mary Boykin Chesnut. Do not be intimidated if any of this is new to you; your hosts will put you at ease with a congenial afternoon social and the tour of the mansion after breakfast will answer your every question on life in the old South, Bloomsbury, and its famous previous residents. The food is delicious, the hosts gracious, and the house luxurious.

Definitely the best B&B experience we've ever had. You turn in the driveway and enter another era. You can just feel the history as soon as you set foot in the door. Although it is a grand historic home, it has been so cleverly modernized we never once got the feeling we were trading off modern conveniences for the privilege of staying in an old home. The hosts are wonderful. Not a detail is left out, neither in service, food, nor or comfort. They make you feel as if it is your home, too. Their full tour of the house & retelling of it's history is worth staying there all by itself. The restaurants our hosts recommended were all top notch, and we marveled at how reasonable Camden's dining are cost-wise. We are probably jaded as to the quaintness of the town itself, since we already live in a history & horses small S.C. town. The town did not thrill us as much as we'd have liked. The site of the Revolutionary War battle of Camden is a disappointing, and while Historic Camden, a restoration village on the site of the original settlement tries hard to please, it is very minimal. However, Camden itself is so close to Columbia that we could see staying there without feeling as if we are marooned. We definitely plan to return to Bloomsbury for an overnight or weekend getaway. The Inn itself is the lure. You cannot do better!

Bloomsbury is a gorgeously restored and meticulously maintained B&B where you will instantly feel a part of Bruce and Katherine's family. Katherine is a five-star chef, and her breakfasts top most of the luxury hotels we have stayed in - both in terms of deliciousness and creativity. Bruce's stories make you feel as if you are living the history of this spectacular home. But it is the attention to detail that really makes Bloomsbury memorable: spotless rooms with their own climate controls (highly unusual for a B&B), power strips in every room, lovely décor throughout the house with Bruce and Katherine’s tasteful collections on display, beautiful dining room table place settings for breakfast, wine and hors d’ouevres (different every day) in the afternoon on the porch, pitch-perfect landscaping, knowledge of all things South Carolina (including great Charleston tips) and fascinating conversations with two people who define gracious southern hospitality.

My husband and I visited Bloomsbury Inn last weekend and we had an unforgettable stay. We have stayed at many B&B's and Bruce and Katherine are the most hospitable hosts we have ever encountered. From the scrumptious breakfasts to the wonderful conversations, our stay could not have been better. They go above and beyond and make their guests feel at home. We were originally drawn to the Inn because of it's historical ties to Mary Chestnut (famous Civil War diarist). I was absolutely thrilled to learn that we stayed in the very room they believe was hers. It does not get much better than that! Bruce took the time to take us on a house tour, which was very interesting, and much appreciated. The Inn was immaculate, beautiful, romantic, and overflowing with charm. We plan to return as soon as we can. We feel as though we now have friends in Camden, South Carolina.

An exceptional B&B. I had lived in Camden during my High School years and knew the house as an unkept, overgrown old house back in the 70's. It is amazing what the innkeepers have done to the home. My stay was very short but very enjoyable. My room was welcoming and comfortable. The gourmet breakfast was excellent. My only reqret is that I did not have time in my stay to sit on their huge front porch in one of the rocking chairs to enjoy the peace and quiet.

From the moment of arrival when Bruce assisted with carrying the luggage up to our room to the 5:30pm social hour with wine, cheese, and assorted crackers and cold cuts, it was easy to relax and enjoy the conversation about Camden history and the fascinating restoration of this beautiful home. The delightful breakfast included a fresh fruit parfait, baked biscuits, and assorted "surprise" dishes from a cheese/mushroom quiche and other flavorful fare. Bruce assisted with booking reservations at local eateries on a nearby lake and in Camden town. Rooms had climate control and the bedding was comfortable. A decanter of port with glasses was on a nightstand. Needless to say, we thoroughly enjoyed the history lessons about the home (and an optional post-breakfast tour by Bruce) and the local attractions and historical Revolutionary War sites. We highly recommend this delightful Inn and its gracious innkeepers.

Bruce and Katherine were most welcoming and their home, very comfortable, beautiful to look at with history and curios at every turn. Bruce was most interesting with a keen knowledge about the home, Camden and South Carolina in general. Katherine spoilt us with the most delicious breakfast - one I don't think could be topped. We would definately go back and recommend Bloomsbury to anyone heading to the Camden area.

This property is so much more than your typical B&B. Consider Bloommsbury as an historical field trip. The house has been lovingly and impeccably restored to near mint condition and the property is very representative of southern antebellum architecture and charm. But as they say - "the devil is in the details" and the inkeepers, Bruce and Katherine Brown, make Bloomsbury come alive with their stories of the property's rich history. Most B&B's give you a comfortable stay in a pleasant environment, but Bloomsbury gives you something else if you're a history lover. I left feeling enriched and connected to the house as well as Camden. Be sure you allow ample time for Bruce's "tour". It's well worth it!

My husband and I stopped at the Bloomsbury Inn on the way to the beach in North Carolina. We were just hoping for a nice place to stay on the trip. I have stayed in many B&B's but this one far exceeded any Inn we have visited. It is such a treat to see a place so well maintained and learn about its history. The food, innkeepers, rooms, and town of Camden were a great surprise! Do not miss this Inn in South Carolina!!

This is a wonderful B & B! The house is beautiful and rich in history. The owners, Bruce and Katherine, are wonderful people that really care about your stay. They try to attend to each detail. The breakfast was delicious and the homemade coffee outstanding! I highly recommend this B&B! This is a wonderful place to rest and restore. We cannot wait to go back!

What a wonderful, beautiful, jewel in the inland of South Carolina. My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights celebrating our anniversay and we had such a remarkable time. From the quaint town to the grandeur of Bloombury everything was perfect. We relaxed, read, fed our souls and had such a great time celebrating life together and with the innkeepers Bruce and Katherine. We loved every minute of it and are extremely grateful that we had an opportunity to spend time at this wonderful Bed and Breakfast. Thank you, it was perfect, perfect, perfect. Best breakfasts we have ever had!

We loved our stay at Bloomsbury Inn. What made this B&B different from other B&B's was getting a tour of the home/grounds and learning its fascinating history. I really enjoyed the canteloupe soup for breakfast along with the strawberry french toast. Nice touches in the room was piano music (cd), candy, cookies, Civil War books, white plush robes, small flat screen TV and bottled water. Katherine and Bruce are wonderful hosts!

My wife were traveling home to NC from Houston where we learned that her cancer had returned; both were in a deep, deep funk! We met our sons and their wives in Camden to go to the NASCAR race at Darlington the next day. After 10 days of testing and bad news and nearly 2500 miles of car travel, Bloomsbury provided a welcome and much needed respite. Upon arrival, we found the grounds to be pristine; inviting weary travelers to step down and come on in for a visit. A quick tour proved that the grounds were only the finery on the package; our accomodations were right out of the days of the pre-War of Northern Agression era. We felt like we had been transported back in time from the reality we had faced over the past 10 days to a more gentile day and time. Our hosts, Bruce and Katherine, were warm and friendly--remeniscient of the old South. Bruce filled us with stories of Bloomsbury and the families that had owned it, making the home literally come alive in our minds' eyes while Katherine prepared a breakfast and provided snacks on the veranda that were fit for kings and queens. Thanks, Bruce and Katherine, for wisking my wife and I away from a dreadful time to a time of peace and rest and sanctuary. We eagerly anticipate our next opportunity to visit with you. Our children gifted us with bed & breakfast.com gift cards for our 40th wedding anniversary. This gave us the opportunity to seek out a B & B not far from home since we only had 2 days to be away. My husband & I had the best time at Bloomsbury Inn, starting with Bruce greeting us in the driveway & helping us with our luggage. The social hour was a great time of interacting with other guests & friends of the Browns. We have a great appreciation of our military and this interested me in choosing Bloomsbury Inn since this is Bruce & Katherine's background. Katherine & Bruce treat their guests royally! We were thrilled with Katherine's gourmet breakfast followed by Bruce's time in giving us a glimpse into life back when their lovely home was built and then we had a tour of their home and grounds. We also received recommendations for sightseeing and restaurants which added to delightful stay. Thank you Bruce & Katherine for our excellent time with you!! Dr. Gordon & Lorraine

The Bloomsbury Inn is delightful! Historical and comfortable, this inn will not disappoint. Afternoon wine on the wide front porch in the rocking chairs is not to be missed. My stay at The Bloomsbury Inn was all that I wanted it to be, and more. The food was fantastic, the hosts were terrific, the history was wonderful. I just can't say enough about this place. The owners, Katherine and Bruce, show great respect for the history of the home. It's obvious how much they care not only about the home, but about their guests as well. All around a wonderful experience!

This was by far the best B & B I have ever stayed at. The service, food, and house was top notch. The owners are so friendly, and certainly know how to entertain us while in their home. Everthing at the Bloomsbury was more than we expected. The grounds, the Inn itself, the innkeepers, the food, the hospitality, the history, and the friendliness of the other guests were truly more than we expected. We stayed at the Bloomsbury Inn in mid-April 2011. The place is incredible. The 1850s mansion has been immaculately restored and is filled with interesting antiques and other unique things the owners acquired from around the world during their time in the military. The sleeping rooms are very large and comfortable (ours was the largest at 20 x 20 feet), and all have 13 foot ceilings, private baths, antique furniture, individual temperature controls, and year-round fireplaces. Breakfasts were fantastic gormet affairs served by the owners in a nice dining room with white linens and fine china and silver. And every afternoon was a social hour hosted by the owners that included wine, cheeses, spreads and assorted crackers served on a beautiful wrap-around porch overlooking the gardens. The owners were very gracious and took considerable time to interact with guests, offer dining and sight-seeing tips, and explain the history of the property and the surrounding area. Considering everything you get and all the history and ambiance of the place, the Bloomsbury Inn is a steal. If you go, don't forget to check out the famous Pearl Fryar Topiary Gardens just 20 minutes away, as well as some the very best steaks in the entire state served at the Mill Pond Restaurant, also about a 20 minute drive from the B&B.

Bruce and Katherine go way beyond run-of-the-mill hosts with everything they do, and always with a gracious smile. Even when surrounded by storm damage cleanup they cheerfully provided a wonderful weekend for our friends and us. The place is beautiful and very well kept, breakfasts are delicious and beautifully presented, and the afternoon wine and hors d'oeuvres on the veranda with Miss Kitty are perfect. We'll be back next year and as long as we can make the trip!

The sterling reviews of Bloomsbury are an accurate reflection of the experience we had there. We stayed because of the proximity to the Carolina Cup Steeplechase, but this place is a destination in itself. Immaculate setting, beautiful grounds and innkeepers in Bruce and Katherine who are textbook definitions of gracious hosts. True gourmet breakfasts and an evening social hour that makes going out to dinner afterward seem superfluous. We have stayed at hundreds of outstanding B&Bs all over the world, and this one ranks well into the upper echelon. We recommend it with complete assurance that you will love the experience.

From the moment we arrived to the time we had to say goodbye, Bruce and Katherine have thought of everything. I have stayed at many places all over the world and this is my most favorite by far. Camden is a wonderful southern town and it's townspeople are enjoyable, welcoming and cultured. A trip to Bloomsbury should be on everyone's destination location. My wife and I have stayed here many times and this is a place we will continue to come for many years to come. The rates are incredible because the service, amenities and property should be many times what they are charging. This is a world class property.

We were on our way back to Pinehurst NC from The Masters tournament in Augusta, GA, and decided to stay over in Camden. What a surprise awaited us at the Bloomsbury. What a treat!

Came up to Camden for the night for a wedding and just stumbled upon the Bloomsbury's website the day before. Was lucky to get the best room in the house with less than 24hrs notice. When we arrived, Mr. Brown came out to our car and greeted us and helped with the bags. He was a charming and humorous host throughout our stay. The Inn was simply lovely in every respect and at an unbelievable value. Having recently stayed in some boutique hotels in NYC, the room at Bloomsbury and service we received could have easily cost ten times what we paid if it had been in a city. The Browns host their guest on the porch for an evening social which we were very disappointed to miss due to our previous plans. The porch was great and one could easily spend hours relaxing out there. The breakfast was top notch and Mr. Brown lead a basement to attic tour of the house and grounds explaining the history and their efforts at restoration. It was a real treat. If I ever found myself traveling through Camden again, I wouldnt hesitate to spend another night at the Bloomsbury.

Gracious hospitality and worldly experiences are the innkeepers’ forté. We immediately felt at home upon arrival and enjoyed talking to the innkeepers about their military careers, learning about the house’s interesting history and how they acquired it, over a glass of wine. Snacks, coffee and tea were available outside out room which was nicely appointed with a very comfortable bed. The gourmet quality breakfast was filling and accompanied by a nice hot applesauce soup. We needed a place to stay outside of Columbia SC and Camden was a nice place to stop for the night. We would go back and also recommend it to others.

Where to begin? More than we ever expected..........the genuine hospitality offered by Katherine and Bruce is enough to make the stay worth it. Stories of their amazing careers (and you must press them for it because they are humble to the core) alone could keep you on their front porch sipping wine and munching on goodies for hours on end. They made reservations for us at a nearby restaurant that undoubtedly had the most fabulous cobbler that I have ever tasted. From the start, Bruce's storytelling ability entices you with the informational tour of the house that he gives after Katherine has presented you with one of the most scrumptous breakfasts ever. Word to the wise: do not skip the tour. All in all, gorgeous home, amazing hosts and that to-die for breakfast will keep me looking forward to my return. Do not look any further...you have found your bed and breakfast.

The Bloomsbury Inn is absolutely the best: the beauty, the comfort, the history, the food can't be beat. But above all, the innkeepers I've heard were rated the best innkeepers in the nation. That equals impecable service. If you want to be treated like a king or queen, visit the Bloomsbury Inn. You will certainly be glad you did.

A litany of superlatives and accolades fails to describe our experience at Bloomsbury--it was simply the BEST B&B we ever visited, with the BEST accomodations, the BEST amenities, the BEST attention to detail, and the BEST inkeepers we have ever encountered. I will definitely return in the near future and hope that the good word has not spread so rapidly so I will not get a reservation. Katherine and Bruce Brown and their home are truly a shining example to the industry and, in my opinion, set the standard.

We stayed at the Bloomsbury Inn recently and enjoyed it immensely. We typically do not stay in B&Bs due to some experiences from years ago but there was not a hotel in Camden and we read the excellent reviews of this one. We were not disappointed! Everything about this place adds up to a very restful and extremely educational experience. The room had every amenity to suit our needs and was quite spacious. The bed was comfortable and we did not hear a peep from anywhere else in the house during the night. We even had our own thermostat to set at our desired temperature. The mansion is chockful of history and impeccably maintained. The grounds are beautiful, even in the winter months. We were served wine and delicious light fare the evening we arrived and the breakfast was more than satisfying. Our hosts, Bruce and Catherine, could not have been more gracious and were willing to accommodate any special dietary requests. They are a very interesting couple with extraordinary life experiences, yet very down-to-earth. They made us feel right at home. We sincerely hope that we will be able to return for another visit in the near future!

My husband surprised me with a night at the lovely Bloomsbury Inn for my birthday during the holidays. It was a peaceful getaway for both of us. There were plenty of modern amenities in this historic home. Our stay was as comfortable as being at home with every convenience necessary, but better because we were transported to another place and time. Bruce & Katherine are gracious hosts with lots of stories to share from their service in the Air Force and in academics. Katherine is superb cook! I felt like a princess at breakfast as she served several courses of southern cuisine. There wasn't a detail that wasn't addressed. The house was beautiful at Christmastime. Camden also had several great restaurants to choose from for dinner plans. We have plans to go back...and soon!

We made a last-minute call in hopes of reserving a room that night due to impending bad weather for our drive home. When told we were meeting friends for dinner, Katharine warmly encouraged us to invite our friends to join us for a cocktail at the inn. From that gracious offer things only were better and better: the website did not do justice to the lovely garden bed chamber we enjoyed, a coffee bar upstairs to jumpstart the morning, a special breakfast including fluffy biscuits and apple soup before the entree, and then a history, architecture, and travel filled tour of the house and grounds with Bruce. The camellia sasanquas in November almost rival the azaleas of spring. Well worth a visit any time of year! The only way to improve your visit is to stay longer!

I called for a reservation and my husband and I were very pleased to see them again and to stay in their beautifully appointed home where we enjoyed warmth and serenity and a scrumptuous breakfast the next morning to send us on our way back to Florida. I would recommend their home among one of the most comfortable we have visited and am looking forward to a return.

I am in the Air Force and currently separated from my family. My wife and I missed our 15th wedding anniversary, so I decided to bring her to Bloomsbury. Upon arrival, we were greeted by Bruce and saw the other guests relaxing on the huge front patio. Our room was amazing with so much character and all this neat stuff - even the stuff had stuff inside! The social hour was nice with wine and appetizers. The best part was the breakfast the next morning! Katherine served the ladies first and then us guys. Tea, Coffee, juice kept coming. Very creative serving of apples, homeade sausage, and baked french toast. As we ate, Bruce gave us a vivid story of the house and the history of the owners from the Civil War to now. Then we toured the estate and saw how much renovation was done to restore the home to what it used to be. Overall, a great time and my wife was all smiles!

The Bloomsbury Inn is a fantastic place for a weekend escape! We went there for the 14th annual Camden,SC , bluesfestival and actually spent most of the time attending the music in downtown, exactly one mile from the Inn. The public areas in the Inn are very nicely furnished and the wide wrap-around porch has plenty comfortable rocking chairs. Bedroom had a comfortable bed, individual temperature control, private bath with nice amenities, good shower (plenty hot water) Bathrobes and slippers were provided, nice Turkish cotton towels. Could not get the TV to display captions, perhaps the wrong remote. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious, more than we could eat. Afternoon tea was served with fine red and white wine and delicious hors d' ouevres. The Innkeepers were knowledgeable about the area, the Inn's history, restaurants and other attractions. This is my second stay at Bloomsbury and I wouldn't stay anywhere else. The house evokes the loving care Bruce and Katharine put in to renovations and continue daily. "Home, is where the heart is." Bruce and Katherine Brown opened their home, which is an historic piece of South Carolina, as well as U.S. History, and have made this Antebellum retreat a joyful experience. This was my first B&B experience. Every comfort, without being intrusive, meals that one would hope to find at the finest restaurants and social graces with humor to boot. The Brown's truly have not only a wonderful business in Bloomsbury Inn, but this is because they understand something very important, that service and comfort are for the greater good of those whom you serve, the customer. Thanks again!

Our weekend stay was absolutely over and above my expectations. The food was delicious. Katherine shared her special tips on preparing the chocolate gravy that was served so I could prepare it for my family. Every room passed the white glove inspection. It was warm and welcoming in every aspect. The Inn Keepers took time to meet our every reguest. I really enjoyed just sitting in the parlor sharing and listening to stories of Bruce and Katherines adventures from around the world. Over the past several decades, we have stayed in many dozens of B&Bs. For a few years, I even contemplated acquiring one and becoming an innkeeper. However, after staying at this establishment, there is no way that one could ever hope to compete, or even to come close. Everything was perfect, your needs are anticipated, and the hospitality of the innkeepers cannot be surpassed. I'm not aware of any major tourist draw to Camden, but any trip there just to stay at the Bloomsbury Inn will be a great trip. George and Marjorie

We enjoyed four days at Bloomsbury during early July. Katherine and Bruce were very attentive and helpful. They went far beyond what one would expect or even hope for in B & B hosts. Having stayed in many B & Bs over 30+ years, I would rate this as the very best in many respects. The house and rooms are lovely, as are the grounds. We also enjoyed the town. The Browns are extremely gracious and did everything possible to see that we had a good time. Katherine's breakfasts and Bruce's history lessons and tours were unparalleled. They also had a number of helpful recommendations about what to do and see and where to eat.

The afternoon cocktail hour and breakfast were very enjoyable and I really liked the history of the Bloomsbury Inn by Bruce. I would recommend this charming place to anyone. It also was nice staying somewhere with a fellow UGA alumni--Bruce.

As soon as I called to make a reservation with Katherine, I knew we were in for a treat! When my mother and I arrived we were swept off our feet as soon as you drive up to the house. Bruce welcomed us into the beautiful home by carrying our luggage and giving us a warm greeting and tour of our room. The room was amazing too, it was beautifully decorated, clean, comfortable, and filled with little special treats to make anyone feel special! We loved coming back to the house in the afternoons for our social hour and finding that our bed had been prepared with a turn down and having a little chocolate treat waiting. Then we certainly enjoyed waking up to a wonderful breakfast. Katherine and Bruce go out of their way in making you feel as if you are a part of the family in thier home. During our stay they made special arrangements for our breakfast time too. We also loved the dinner recommendations each evening! I truely can not wait to go back for another stay in thier home! All who visit will enjoy good southern hospitality with fine food, conversation, and relaxation!

If you enjoy a good Bed and Breakfast - Bloomsbury has to be a must see on your busy schedule. Bruce and Katherine both enjoy sharing their home & keeping you informed of things to do. Their Social hour, Breakfast, & History tour are all added touches that were truly appreciated by us and we hope to make it back soon. (Very Clean and well kept) The Cooks 06/18/10

The minute we arrived we were greeted at the door and escorted to our spacious kingly room. We immediately felt totally at home only even better. (We certainly don't get chocolates on our pillows and homemade cookies by our bed at home. ) The owners were most gracious and each night between 5:30 and 6:30 they served absolutely delicious hors d'œuvres that hit our hungry spot. We chatted with the owners and felt as if we had stepped back in time to a bygone era of actual conversation with folks without a TV blaring or cell phones being pecked at. They were most gracious and booked us dinner reservations to two excellent restaurants. Each morning we were met by an absolute top of the line breakfast. Each dish was prepared with such care. I only wish I had 4 stomachs like a cow and could have eaten more. During breakfast there was more conversation making us feel like we were with a long lost cousin. The last day the owner gave us a history tour of the house. It was fascinating from top to bottom. We learned some amazing things that I had never known as in why they used to paint their porch roofs sky blue. All in all I hated to leave this beautiful haven. I could easily return one day and feel like I'm returning home. They truly give southern hospitality a wonderful name.

The grounds are enchanting. The house a stunning piece of living southern history. Properly enjoyed, one would spend hours sifting through the details arranged throughout the gorgeous structure and never get to see the rest of Camden, which has plenty to recommend it. I'd go full cross-country for one of host Katherine's breakfasts. If you eat light and healthy, her morning openers will not dissapoint, and your willpower and courage will be tested when the savory dish is next served. She and her husband Bruce, the in-house historical tribune, know what they are doing and, though they may miss life in the Air Force, they bet right on their transition career as innkeepers. They were helpful, waking me up once so that I didn't miss an engagement, without being intrusive. The late afternoon social is light and entertaining, and when I left a suit and cellphone behind, they were kind enough to send it along - free of charge! Where do you get that in today's world. Go to Bloomsbury. Bring a copy of "A Diary from Dixie," or read Mary Boykin Miller Chesnut's deeper works on the Civil War from the Bloomsbury library and journey back through time.

Our three night stay at the Bloomsbury Inn could not have been more pleasant. Of all the B&B’s we’ve stayed in the Bloomsbury is where I felt most welcomed and comfortable. The house and rooms are beautiful yet comfortable and the hospitality of the proprietors, Bruce and Katherine was outstanding. On one of our mornings we had to get up very early and both Bruce and Katherine were right there with what turned out to be the most delicious hot breakfast and coffee to-go. We were provided the kind of attention that is helpful but not bothersome. I’ve already recommended the Bloomsbury Inn to friends and can’t wait to go back!

I did not understand the rave reviews until I stayed here. It was truly exceptional, the time and efforts of the hosts could not be bettered. The house magnificent, the breakfast exceptional and fit to be served to the highest house. Truly a wonderful experience and I thank the hosts for their generous and exceptional giving of their time and possessions. Deserves to rate among Michelin stars. Many many thanks to you both.

My husband and I made reservations at Bloomsbury Inn after looking at the website. I must say, this place exceeded our expectations. The house is simply beautiful and it has been restored to its original grandeur. Katherine and Bruce are gracious hosts and they made us feel like we were visiting old friends, instead of paying guests. I can’t say enough good things about this B&B. From the delicious food to the exquisitely decorated interior and exterior to the manicured yard, everything was perfect. We especially enjoyed Bruce’s tour of the house and grounds. If we get the chance, we’ll definitely stay here again!

Quiet (off main road) spacious, gracious, comfortable - and elegant. The place and hosts encourage interaction among the guests with a late afternoon dose of wine and such. We thought that a fine thing, given the self-selection among people who frequent B&B's. Finally, I note with interest and amusement that on both days we were there, we ate no lunch - such were the breakfasts that the hosts provided.

Our two night stay, where we met friends, could not have been more pleasant. The Inn is in top condition and the hosts are very attentive to ensuring you enjoy your stay in Camden. The breakfast, different both mornings, were fancy and exceptional. We are still talking about the homemade cinnamon buns and eggs benedict. The hosts take the time to share the historical facts about the Inn which are quite impressive.

Marvelously restored by the guiding hands of Bruce and Katherine Brown, this elegant, historic B & B is a gem in a quant Southern town filled with charming historic homes. It was the perfect setting for a wedding proposal, with dogwoods and Bradbury Pear trees in glowing bloom in front of the residence. Every room has its own personality and whispers about a time gone by. The Social Hour, with wine and hors d’oeuvres, followed by a historical tour of the property, was enlightening and welcoming. And the breakfast was gluttenous joy. Be prepared to be pampered by the best! You won't find more hospitable and knowledgeable innkeepers. This place will take your breath away. Minneapolis, MN

This is an exceptional B&B. Probably the best I have ever stayed at. The breakfast is worth the price of the room, the inn is wonderfully restored and the innkeepers could not have been nicer. The wine and sherry was nice too. Don't die before you have a chance to visit the Bloomsbury Inn.

We have stayed in many B&B but this is absolutely the pinnacle of perfection! We have already made our reservations for March 0f 2011 for the Cup race--in fact we have reserved the entire place because we think that our friends deserve the opportunity to experience this luxury! Katherine and Bruce are superb hosts-we could not ask for more! I am amazed at how personally involved they are in the day to day operation of their home--Katherine is a gourmet cook, makes everything "from scratch" and even has time to make the jams and jellies that appear on her table each morning! If we were able to go back to the golden days of the South this couple would be your consumate Southern hosts! It cannot get any better than this! Bud and Mira Smith

Our stay at the Bloomsbury Inn was a culinary, social, and educational delight. Katherine and Bruce Brown were attentive to our every desire and made our stay memorable. We thoroughly enjoyed Katherine's elegant hospitality and charm and Bruce's grand tour of the house and grounds, replete with historical details and subtle humor. The house itself exudes a compelling sense of history that has been remarkably well preserved. A stay at Bloomsbury Inn complements Camden's innate charm, making a visit to this town a real treat!

I will remember Bloomsbury as one of the few places where I have felt as welcome and as comfortable as I do in my own home. It would be easy to be intimidated by the grand scale of such a house, and perhaps distracted by such fine furnishings. It is a testament to the hospitable nature of the proprietors, Bruce and Katherine, that I just felt very glad to be there. As beautiful as the rooms are, there is more to admire in the way our hosts shared their time, their stories, and their smiles. The food was delicious, and served with such care that we found it easy to relax and converse. We were provided the kind of attention that is helpful, but not intrusive, and it allowed us to have a wonderful visit. Camden is now on our list of favorite places!

We have college friends that we meet every few years for a weekend getaway. It was our year to plan the event. I literally looked at a map, picked the point I thought was closest to the middle between us geographically and it was Camden, South Carolina. I quickly made reservations at the Bloomsbury Inn - and quite honestly I think we will be returning there for our weekend getaways until we can't meet any more! The place was immaculate, well appointed and charming - not cluttered and dusty like many B&B's. Katherine and Bruce saw to our every need including making sure we were seated by the fireplace at the Mill Pond Restaurant. The evening social hour and breakfast was delictable and the conversation warm and friendly. We were all enamored with the town of Camden - its place in history from the Revolutionary War to the horse connections today. We took a wonderful carriage tour of the amazing antebellum homes with Joy - what a treat! In my opoinion you are a very lucky person to be able to stay for any reason at the Bloomsbury.

Absolutely the best travel experience I have ever had and I have traveled much of the world staying in some pretty nice places. The inn Keepers, Bruce and Kathryn were gracious, accommodating and couldn't do enough to make us comfortable. Every moment spent there will yield fond memories for a long time to come. Bloomsbury Inn is alive and well after Bruce & Katherine have poured their lives and energy into a complete restoration of this 1849 masterpiece. Their Southern hospitality went beyond our expectations and as fellow-innkeepers, from the opposite side of the country, we were truly thankful for our time with the Browns. The walls seemed to speak with their embedded history that Bruce passionately brought back to life. Katherine's hot apple soup for breakfast was out of this world! The innkeeper, Mr. Brown, greeted us in the driveway with a smile before we could turn off our car. He then assisted with the luggage and explained in detail everything important that insured our stay would be a rewarding one. We had a pleasurable tea time with both hosts for about 1 hour. They expertly pointed us to a very nice establishment close by for dinner. Not only did they provide the information, but Mr. Brown called ahead of time to make sure of the timings so we wouldn't be disappointed nor inconvenienced. We had read previously about the wonderful breakfast and were rewarded the following morning. It is our hope to return many times in the future when we are in the area. Sincerely, Mr. And Mrs. S. We've been staying in B&Bs for over twenty years, and this was our best experience so far. The inn is well-decorated and spotless, and captures the historic significance of the house without feeling like a museum. The innkeepers make you feel like you're staying in their home (which, in fact, you are), with a social hour attended by local folks and a gourmet breakfast and tour of the home to start your day. Extraordinary! Bruce and Katherine's welcome gathering on their beautiful wrap-around porch that evening became a special prelude to an evening of fine dining at nearby Sam Kendall's restaurant. We had an absolutely wonderful stay at the Bloomsbury Inn - Our first view was breathtaking and became more so as we walked up to the front porch and through the double wide front doors to see the rest of the house. Each room was immaculately kept and lovingly restored. We were impressed not only with the care Katherine and Bruce took with every detail of comfort, but also with the massive efforts they took in preserving the historical aspects of the house. We had just toured several plantations in Georgetown. Our "tour" of the Bloomsbury with Bruce as our guide was even more detailed and truly gave us a feel for the families who had lived there. Katherine made a fabulous breakfast -The homemade biscuits were the best I've ever had and the eggs benedict was heavenly. She took care to ask our dietary needs and cooked to order. We truly felt pampered. I would recommend a visit to the Bloomsbury Inn to anyone who enjoys history, beautiful surroundings and exceptional cooking.

Bloomsbury far exceeded my expectations. The rooms were more beautiful and comfortable than the website made them out to be. Our room was large, with beautiful antique furniture and a private bathroom. The innkeepers, Bruce and Katherine thought of everything - water by the bed, cookies, a wine decanter...it was so charming and perfect. We were delighted by the social hour, where we were treated to wine and cheese on the beautiful front porch. Breakfast was absolutely wonderful - Katherine unknowingly made my favorites for breakfast (fresh biscuits and Eggs Benedict). It was so delicious I didn't want it to end. Our stay at Bloomsbury was such a wonderful experience. We're already trying to find a reason to make another trip and bring some friends.

My wife and I visit South Carolina often and have finally found our favorite location - the Bloomsbury. When you combine a beautiful historical inn, with innkeepers that are as engaging as the inn, with grounds that take you back to pre-civil war, it spells PRICELESS. Don't take my word for it, go enjoy Katherine's southern cousine and Bruce's history lessons. I know we'll be back.

The only issue was an "old house" issue - i.e., very squeaky floor boards in the middle of the night when my sweet husband got up (several times) to use the bathroom. Maybe more floor rugs would solve the problem - not sure. Other than that, we had a great time and would go back in a skinny minute!

I booked an overnight stay at the Bloomsbury Inn because of a work event in Camden, SC. I was only expecting a (hopefully) good night's sleep. Bruce and Katherine Brown were so attentive; the Inn was white-glove clean, the food was luscious, the historic restoration and furnishings were all wonderful. We particularly enjoyed Bruce's generosity in lecturing on the history of the house and its inhabitants. Our fellow guests were also people it was good to be with. Many thanks for a worthwhile stay!

My husband and I stayed here for our Anniversary and we both were blown away by the beauty of this Inn, it's history and the Innkeeper's hospitality. It was if you were visiting relatives. This is such a warm and comfortable place to stay. It has such beauty. We are so glad that we went and we hope to go back again.

It was OUR privedlge to stay at the Bloomsbury Inn!!!! Bruce and Kay have covered every possible aspect of making a stay at their B&B a treasured experience. Every item from the decor, cleanliness, the bon apetit meals, happy hour conversation, knowledge of the Camden area, history of the house, its construction and its owners were top notch and fascinating. Everything combined for a spellbinding experience. Keith Statler and Kay Cotney

I don't know where to start! From the gracious welcome from the innkeepers to the afternoon gathering in the parlor, we couldn't have been happier. The innkeepers were very helpful in suggesting a great restaurant for dinner and the BEST breakfast my husband and I could have imagined. I can't wait to return to for another wonderful stay at Bloomsbury Inn.

From the moment you arrive at the Bloomsbury, you know that it is something very special. This is one of the most remarkable B & B's that we have ever stayed at. We thoroughly enjoyed visiting with Katherine and Bruce, in fact, it felt more like we were visiting with old friends than being guests at a B & B. The knowledge they have of the area, the history, and tour of their home was so thorough and interesting. Restaurant suggestions, places to visit, etc. made our visit to Camden so enjoyable. Their home is a real treasure. The attention to detail takes you back in time. The hosts, the house, the place......everything fits.

The personal attention and service delivery of this visit were beyond what we have ever experienced. At every turn you found something else which made the experience memorable, from the decor and antiques throughout the house to snacks, cream sherry, bath amenities, and more in the room. We were met at the door and the owner helped carry everything to the room. The hor-durves, wine and beverages in the afternoon were excellent. And then breakfast ..... it was better than most restaurants where we have eaten breakfast. Even the other guests added to a very positive experience ... they were special people. Overall the experience was fantastic and we will go back - next time for a special ocasion.

Words cannot convey my gratitude toward Bruce and Katherine Brown for all they did to make my husband, me, my daughter and her wedding party feel welcome. While they would modestly say that it was all just part of what an innkeeper should do for their guests, I was literally brought to tears by their generous spirit. For example, Katherine gracefully stepped up to assist our amateur photographer to ensure Sarah was able to capture the picturesque beauty of the Bloomsbury Inn in the wedding photos. To say that our time spent at the inn was a welcome retreat from the hustle and bustle of preparing for a wedding doesn’t even begin to capture the serenity we felt during the “down times” of our stay. Our only wish is that we could have stayed there longer! Boyce & Kathleen Hodge Sumter, SC

There is nothing lacking in this B & B. We hope we will have a reason to travel to Camden again so we can stay at this inn. Friendly, gracious, accommodating host and hostess. Most comfortable room, great breakfast, afternoon libations of wine and snacks/hors d'oeuvres and in-room brandy decanter delightful. Beautiful house and grounds. It's high rating is very deserved.

The moment we arrived at Bloomsbury we knew it was special. It is as though you have stepped back into time. As soon as we opened our car door Bruce was there to greet us and help with our bags. Katherine was on the porch to welcome us into this beautiful oasis. The minute we turned the key to our room we sensed a peaceful presence. As Bruce introduced us to the General's Chambers Katherine was busy preparing hors d'oeu-vres for afternoon tea and social hour. Mike and I are not accustomed to this but certainly enjoyed this Southern tradition at Bloomsbury. We slept like babes that night and inquired about what type of mattress they had! We really did not want to get out of that comfortable bed until we smelled the aroma of a blend of coffee made just for the B&B. When we headed down the stairs the smells only teased you more! What an amazing and gifted chef Mrs. Katherine is. We thoroughly enjoyed the history tour from Bruce. It really is part of the total experience. They truly live up to their motto "enter as strangers leave as friends." This wonderful retreat will beckon you back. Sincerely, Mike and Sherry Owen

As the great great grandson of the builder of Bloomsbury, it was a pleasure to feel that the home is being cared for so lovingly, and offers such great hospitality to its visitors. The Browns have done a lovely job of maintaining the sense of history and architecture, while at the same time offering 21st century comfort. "Porch Time" is a special treat for all. Evans Haile

We live in nearby Columbia, SC, and Bloomsbury Inn was the perfect getaway for our anniversary weekend. It is a great value for the price--exquisite grounds, period decorations and furnishings, superb FULL breakfast, plus wonderful hospitality. Bruce and Katherine's personal touches made us feel like we were guests in their home, rather than patrons of their establishment. Their personal presence at the daily social hour gave us a chance to get to know them and they were genuinely interested to get to know us. Added value is a tour of their historical home and Bruce's extensive knowledge of southern history and interesting anecdotes. By far the best B&B we have ever stayed in! The Magnusons

Katherine and Bruce could not have been more welcoming and kind. The Bloomsbury Inn is beautiful, comfortable, and relaxing. The historic tour and notebook describing the work done to the inn were extremely informative and interesting. Bruce kindly allowed our friends who visited us to enjoy the tour as well. Invited to the wedding of our friends' oldest son...age 47....we decided to make our first venture to Camden, an adventure. We searched the web and decided on Bloomsbury Inn as our lodging. On site it looked delightful to us.....spoiled New Yorkers with a second home in Pinehurst, N.C. The actual experience exceeded our expectations. Gracious, ageless, charming...adjectives to describe both the wonderful antebellum home and the darling couple who run it. The breakfasts themselves were worth the visit....apple dumplings, biscuits in an iron skillet, praline bacon, eggs with hollandaise sauce, for example. The wedding we attended was a joy, but the trip to Camden, the skeet shooting outing, the antique purchasing topped with perfection at the Bloomsbury Inn made our foray a happy memory, worth a repeat visit, even without a wedding.

When arriving at Bloomsbury the minute you start up the drive you feel the peace and beauty of this beatiful home. Once you meet the Innkeeper's you immediately know you have made a great choice and it just gets better and better. All of the accomendations are beautiful, however I try to arrange to have Sally's room as it is my favorite. Almost forgot to tell you about the social held on the veranda in the late afternoon and the greatest breakfast the next morning. Katherine is a gourmet cook! You will enjoy the quaint town of Camden with little interesting shops and loads of history. If you enjoy wallking it is only a short distance from Bloomsbury to the shops. The home and the grounds are impeccable! Maybe I'll see you there soon. Dody Phillips

Our 2 night stay at Bloomsbury was perfect. Our arrival at this beautiful and historic inn was enchanting with the magnificant oaks and perfectly manicured grounds down to the welcoming pineapples on the front posts and a true southern greeting from Katherine. Proceeding into the Inn's interior we were treated with the magnificant restoration of a bygone era from the high ceilings, hardwood floors, exquisite furnishings and elegant winding staircase leading to the guest rooms. Our room boasted a large king size bed, fireplace, sitting areas, desk and a view that inspired Mary Borkin Chestnut to write about in her infamous diary. The room was immaculate and no detail forgotten from the quality bedding, amenities, robes, slippers, hair dryer, home-made cookies, candies, weather report and even a decanter of Sherry on the fireplace mantle! Mornings allowed us the treat of Katherine's fine gourmet breakfasts and Bruce's witty and infinite knowledge of the history of Bloomsbury and it's inhabitants. Parting really was such sweet sorrow and we will definitely look forward to returning. How wonderful that we were able to take a little of the Bloomsbury memory with us through our pictures and several jars of Katherine's home-made soup and jelly from the gift shop! Katherine and Bruce, thanks so much for the treasured experience. Tamara and LaGrand

Bloomsbury Inn was one of the most beautiful inns we have ever stayed in. I have taken my husband on an anniversary trip to a different B&B for 22 years. I must say that our stay at Bloomsbury far exceeded my expectations. I found this inn when looking for accomodations near Pearl Fryar's home. We were on our way home from a stay in Virginia and were fortunate enough to pick this home as our stopping point. We made friends with a couple from Jacksonville on the front porch before dinner. Bruce and Katherine are the ideal hosts and we couldn't have been happier. The only bad thing was that we had to leave after only one night and return home.

My husband and I love little getaways and this has been by far the loveliest place we have stayed. We got the royal treatment when we went. Bruce and Katherine were so much fun to be around and talk to. They did a great job making our stay at Bloomsbury enjoyable by catering to what we liked to do. My husband and I enjoyed the porch and Bruce made an extra effort to have the candles lit and fans on. They recommended great places to eat and to visit, however we simply just wanted to stick around the house. Then to top it off Katherine's breakfast menus were outstanding. You must try the cantaloupe soup! The house is just incredible! We got a tour of the home by Bruce, and the rooms were prettier than the pictures online. It really exceeded our expectations. We can't wait to go back and plan to around the holidays! We would highly recommend this place to anyone!

I travel all over the US for business, and the Bloomsbusry Inn was one of the nicest stays I've ever had. The innkeepers were consistently friendly and gracious, nicely in touch with my needs as a business traveler. The house itself is gorgeous - just what I love about B&Bs, but the breakfast was superlative. Freshly baked homemade bread with butter from local Amish farmers, a canteloupe soup that I hope to make this weekend (their recipe is on the website), my favorite Earl Grey tea, and then eggs benedict. Everything fresh and home made, and served at 6:30 AM so I could get to my workshop on time! Other innkeepers have left me out a box of cereal or a muffin because they didn't want to make breakfast so early - not at the Bloomsbury Inn. And Camden was so lovely, that now I want to return with my husband for the perfect get-away weekend. Try it. You won't be disappointed.

I am sorry that "Outstanding" reflects your highest rating. Our stay at the Bloomsbury Inn was beyond exceptional. The decor was magnificent and the ambiance of this Bed & Breakfast was breathtaking. The grounds were meticulously maintained and absolutely gorgeous. But what made our 3 night stay so memorable was clearly the hospitality of our hosts, Bruce and Katherine Brown. They could not do enough for us and several times went above and beyond the 'required' hostess obligations. We were treated daily to a menu of gourmet cooking - fresh figs from their garden for breakfast! Their conversation was enlightening and entertaining. Other guests we met were equally delightful. Bruce & Katherine's gracious, warm-hearted hospitality is rare in today's world and we cannot say enough about them both as Innkeepers, but more importantly, as people. Not only will we not hesitate to return to Camden and to Bloomsbury, but it is first on our list of recommendations to family and friends who will visit as well. What a relaxing and welcoming experience we had on our first visit to Camden!

We found the Bloomsbury Inn to be a real treat. It exceeded my expectations of a Bed and Breakfast even though we haven't stayed at that many. Future stays at other B&Bs will be hard to live up to the Bloomsbury. The place was in prestine shape. The owners were especially welcoming and charming. The rooms were decorated with many antiques from all over the world. The owners have quite a nice, I mean really nice collection, so we felt like royalty staying in the General's chambers. We had a tour after a homemade breakfast of biscuits with chocolate gravy, fruit and a creamy topping, baked pepper bacon, and custom blended coffee to the owners' taste. The tour was very informative and relaxed. We would go back again without a second thought.

Bruce and Katherine were the perfect hosts-- they made us feel comfortable and at home, even with our late arrival. Breakfast each day was well planned and executed exceptionally well, and the beauty and history behind the Bloomsbury was unbeatable. We hope to make it back to visit soon!

What a delightful experience we enjoyed at Bloomsbury! Not only are the innkeepers tops in the hospitality industry, they are just nice folks as well. Our room was beautiful, as was the rest of the inn and our breakfast was absolutely delicious. We highly recommend this destination for your trip to the area or if you are just passing through, as we were. In fact, we are trying to find an excuse to go back - soon!

ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL!!! The room was the best we have ever stayed in. Bruce and Katherine could not have been better hosts. The breakfast was scrumptious!!! We would LOVE to go back!

From the moment we arrived everything was perfect. My husband had arranged to have flowers and champagne waiting for us in our room. With four children at home, it was a great and relaxing weekend to share with each other. The room was beautiful, comfortable, and private. Breakfast each morning was superb. The Innkeepers could'nt be nicer... anything we needed they were at our service. The tour and history of the home and grounds was also a real treat. This is a bed and breakfast I would definitely return to again and again!

What a wonderful stay! The Inn was fabulous! Bruce and Katherine were terrific! The food was wonderful! I can't think of enough positive adjectives to descibe everything about Bloomsbury. I can't wait to go back.

This was a Mother daughter trip. My 13 year old actually found the Bloomsbury for us. We loved every minute of our getaway and would go back again.
5 sur juin 03, 2008
Our room was very nicely appointed and furnished with all the thoughtful accoutrements one would want or need. The gracious hospitality and attention to detail of the innkeepers, Katherine and Bruce, was exceptional. They welcomed us into their home and every detail of our stay was planned out by them seamlessly. We celebrated our anniversary at The Bloomsbury and were delighted by some of the romantic options afforded to us, such as horsedrawn carriage, champagne in our rooms, anniversary cake, etc. We recommend this establishment without question, and the town of Camden is the epitome of southern living at its finest. This was an outstanding first experience at a bed and breakfast inn and can't wait to experience this again.

The owner's are truly wonderful and couldn't be better host's . From spacious rooms to gourmet breakfasts and evening appetizers on the grand porch, our experience was fantastic. We would recommend this to everyone.

Bruce and Karen go out of their way to make your stay special. Each and everyday the social hour is met with a smile and a kind word. They are interested in their guests and want them to come back. The breakfasts help you start the day the way a day is suppose to start ... with a smile. Simply put -- gourmet all the way. Overall, the best B&B experience I have had. I hope to come back.

This was our second stay and made reservation before leaving for again next year. The Brown's make you feel like old friends and treat you like royalty. The breakfast and social are both outstanding. When we have to leave I always say back into the real world now.

We enjoyed the warm hospitality, delicious breakfast, and magnificent home. Bloomsbury is a step into history of the Camden community. As we rocked on the grand front porch our minds were drawn to imagine the clip-clop of horses on the street. Bravo to Inn Keepers Bruce and Kathrine for continuing the tradition of Bloomsbury!
5 sur mai 13, 2008
While the Inn is spotless and charming, the best part of my stay was my interaction with the Innkeepers. Bruce and Katherine are wonderful. I thoroughly enjoyed their passion for Bloomsbury and their excellent hospitality. It really made the experience stand out above my other B&B experiences.

We travelled South Carolina staying in lovely places in eg.Charleston, but this was surprisingly the highlight of our tour. A beautiful house in a delightful town. Bruce and Katherine are fascinating company and great hosts. Their house is wonderful and the attention to detail is second to none. We would love to come again one day!

My husband and I arrived in mid April 2008 and were utterly charmed by the warmth and attention to detail given to our visit by the innkeepers Katherine and Bruce Brown. We will be back to Camden and Bloomsbury Inn!
5 sur avril 26, 2008
Katherine's cooking and baking is beyond compare. And Bruce's stories are truely remarkable. Are we sure he isn't a history professor? We have been back twice and know we will come again, even though we live far away in Los Angeles.

Traveling alone, I expected to be met with hospitable hosts, however the Browns were exceptional with their Southern charm and warmth. Their late afternoon "socials" were a special treat, I found myself looking forward to... the other guests were chatty, interesting and provided educational opportunities about the local areas, as well. LOVED my room - Sally Chesnut! Excellent choice for me, complete with lovely lavendar bathroom, darling antiques, lightning-speed wireless service, 13 foot ceilings, chocolate cookies in the room, and many personal touches (grandmother's quilt and family photos) added to the warmth and comfort. Fresh local strawberries were presented upon my late night arrival together with a yummy pot of tea on a silver tray. Elegant and affordable. Generous, delicious breakfasts with unusual selections: Bloomsbury Cold Fruit Soup, biscuits and chocolate gravy, hot apple soup, Southern pecan cheesecake to name a few. I did not sample all of these, however, I had my share and heard about the others from fellow guests. A wonderful inn, beautiful surroundings, charming hosts, a great walk to Camden town centre and many other treasures - I will have to return to enjoy. Thank you!

BEST inn in which we have ever stayed! Really! Beautiful rooms, exquisite breakfast, lovely grounds, and enjoyable tour/history! We'll be back!!

Although we were only there for one night, I found the house and the Browns to be charming. The house has much South Carolina Civil War history connected with it, and the Browns have made it a wonderful place to stay. The General's Bedroom was spacious and tastefully furnished, and Katherine makes wonderful breakfastes. We have stayed at other comparably-priced B&Bs that were not nearly as nice. I would highly recommend Bloomsbury to anyone wishing to stay in Camden

We were looking for someplace special to celebrate an anniversary and a series of coincidences led us to Camden and Bloomsbury. With a copy of A Diary From Dixie at hand, we stepped back in time for an enchanting visit. Combining so many of our interests (fine food, beautiful decor and architecture, antiques, great company, and history) all rolled into one glorious package, Bloomsbury and its hosts made us feel right at home. Our hosts gave us a tour, described the restoration project, and made dinner reservations for us. We would return in a heartbeat.

For our 17th year anniversary I suprised my husband with a get a way to the Bloomsbuy Inn, just down the road from where we live in Columbia. My husband thought we were just touring a beautiful historic home. To his suprise, Bruce met us at the door and showed us to our room. We had a lovely time having wine and cheese on the front porch with the owners and off to dinner downtown, recommended by Katherine. The rooms were beautiful, clean and inviting. In the morning we were served a wonderful breakfast prepared by owners and finished our stay with a fascinating tour of the house and the grounds. It was a perfect weekend getaway, right in our own backyard. Great experience and we highly recommend The Bloomsbury Inn.

Staying at the Bloomsbury was an experience to remember. Katherine and Bruce truly make you feel at home at all times. The Inn is beautiful both inside and outside. Katherines' cooking was unique and excellent. I felt like I was in a fairy tale....living in the Old South.

My wife travles almost every week and is really tired of the corporate hotel environment. We decided for this trip we would look for a B&B as an alternative. How lucky we were to find the Bloomsbury. A beautiful property, absolutely charming hosts, and breakfasts to die for! We will most certainly return.

Have been wanting to get to Bloomsbury forever, my husband use to live in the house when he was growing up, and I had only seen it from the outside over the years. It exceeded my expectations, and the Inn Keepers are absolutely best in class. We got a complete tour, and lots of historical background on the house and the grounds. The accomodations were lovely, and the breakfast prepared for ys, was better than any five star dining restaurant I have ever eaten at. We will be back!

This was our second stay and it was as perfect as our first! Bruce & Katherine make you feel right at home with their friendliness and they included us in their family time at the races which we thought was very thoughtful. We felt truly pampered from the delicious breakfast (loved the canaloupe soup) to the social time sitting out on the beautiful porch sipping wine. The inn is exceptionally clean. If you want or need anything all you need to do is ask who could ask for more? You're missing a treat if you don't stay here.

Bruse and Katherine were incredibly attentive and anticipated not only needs but personal suprises that were spot on. These little things that they learn about you during front porch conversations are often reflected the next day in your food, drink, reading material etc. The food is better than my mother, grandmother or spouse but don't tell anyone or I might not get to come back! We celebrated our 10th anniversary at the Bloomsbury. Katherine and Bruce made us feel quite welcomed. They respected our privacy, but were also wonderful guides and conversationalists! Bloomsbury was more than I ever thought it would be, and I thought it would be quite fantastic. The Brown's have realized a life long dream in Bloomsbury, and their pride shows in the perfection of every detail, and their unequalled hospitality.

Our stay in So. Carolina ended with our stay at the Bloomsbury Inn. It was fabulous. Katherine and Bruce outdid themselves. They were extremely knowledgeable about the house and its history as well as the town and they spent a lot of time with us explaining it all. We gained a lot of insight about the history of the area from them. Since we were in So. Carolina looking for potential areas to retire too, this was very helpful. The food and wine were excellent and they couldn't have been more hospitable. Unfortunately, since it was at the end of our vacation, we couldn't stay any longer but it is definitely on our list of places to return.

My husband and I celebrated our first anniversary at Bloomsbury Inn. The Browns went out of their way to make our special day and evening a time to remember. From my first phone call to Katherine, I knew everything would be perfect; I could tell it in her voice. What a grand time we had --champagne, chocolates, rose petals, limousine, exquisite dinner -- a simply extraordinary occasion.

We've stayed in many B&Bs, but none can come close to Bloomsbury Inn. The house is beautifully maintained and exquisitely decorated with wonderful antiques. Katherine's late afternoon snacks and breakfast were fantastic. You could not ask for more personable and welcoming hosts..what a FIRST-CLASS experience.

Bruce & Katherine are wonderful hosts! They made us feel welcome from the moment we stepped inside Bloomsbury! Katherine is a wonderful cook, so breakfast was fabulous each morning! Bruce is well versed in the history of the house & the area. They were able to make suggestions of what we could do during the day. All we had to do was tell them what we wanted and they took care of everything - dinner reservations, securing the carriage ride - we just had to show up and enjoy the time. I will recommend them to anyone! This was our first experience at a B&B and it won't be the last! They have spoiled us! If we stay at another B&B, they have some mighty big shoes to fill!

Bloomsbury Inn is an incredible, historic B&B! The Brown's have restored this beautiful inn with love and attention to detail of the history of the time. We celebrated our 10th anniversary with a night at Bloomsbury and dinner at the Millpond Steak House. The only negative thing I can say is that, between the hors d'ouevres and wine before dinner, the scrumptuous meal at Millpond, the champagned in our room at midnight and the tremendous and fabulously gourmet breakfast at Bloomsbury, my skirt was much tighter than it had been just 24 hours earlier! The shrimp and aged cheese and other goods before dinner and the yummy poached pears stuffed with gruyere cheese (and highlighted by herbs and a sprig of mint grown in the Browns' own garden) made me want to move in full-time. The house is beautiful, the conversations about history stimulating, and the porch is so comfortable that you really feel pampered.

Our stay at Bloomsbury Inn in Camden was one of the best B&B experiences we have ever had! The Browns are a charming couple who have lovingly restored the century-old home with the latest in modern conveniences. We especially enjoyed the gourmet breakfast in the formal dining room after which our hosts took us on a guided tour of the home, which is filled with beautiful artifacts and antiques from their travels all over the world. This was a most enjoyable experience!
5 sur avril 12, 2007
Katherine and Bruce run not only the most well managed B&B I've ever experienced (a lot all over the world), but they've mastered bringing guests into their very special home. Breakfasts are superb as you'll find in many, but wine, cheese and stimulating conversations on the front porch at sunset makes this spectacular inn experience even that much more special. Don't even hesitate. I've come back from the DC area on multiple occasions to unwind here.
