"Although we were planning on going out of town for vacation... my wife and I decided to stay in Lynchburg due to a power outage that affected more than 20,000 customers in the area. After braving 4 nights a home with no air conditioning the Carriage House was a welcome retreat. It felt like we actually stepped back in time... with a grand entry hall and a beautiful curved wooden staircase leading to the bedrooms upstairs. The rooms were HUGE and our room had a private bathroom with an old fashioned claw foot tub. In addition, it had all the modern amenities including high speed wireless internet access and even a sleep number bed. The sleep was so relaxing that we almost missed breakfast the next morning... boy are we glad that we didn't! The pancakes with fresh blueberries were tasty along with the fresh squeezed orange juice and a blended berry smoothie. (The syrup was even served in shot glass!) Be sure to take time to relax and enjoy the wide front porch. We recommend that you take time to stroll down the street on Daniels Hill to tour the Historic Point of Honor mansion. In my 20 years experience in the hospitality industry, I have had many opportunities to stay in a variety of accommodations, including bed & breakfast inns, but none made us feel more at home than the Carriage House in Lynchburg.
