This was a wonderful B&B in a remote parts of South Carolina. The owners have 11 dogs and 4 cats (2 inside and 2 outside). I love pets, but my wife's allergy to cats confined her to our room and the kitchen. Nine of the dogs are small, and the two great danes stayed penned up outside.

There are actually 9 dogs on the property 2 small dogs at the inn. 2 large dogs that are fenced in the back and 5 that belong to the caretaker and are kept at the caretakers cottage which is well away from the house. we do have an indoor cat and a cat that is sometimes indoors we did offer on several occasions to put them both out but the husband asked us not to as he enjoyed petting them. We never allow any of the animals in the guest rooms at any time but if the guests are animal lovers then they occasional get to come out and greet those guests, otherwise we keep them confined to our suit of rooms.

My husband and I like to visit bed & breakfasts for our anniversary each year. The Nicholson Mansion was the best one we've visited yet (our 7-year anniversary)! The luxurious accommodations and excellent hospitality made it a perfect getaway for the two of us! We hope to be able to visit again someday.

My wife and I have stayed in B&Bs all over Europe, and we decided to give it a try in the US. Staying at the Nicholson mansion was a wonderful experience. Starting with Lynn's hospitality, to the glorious rooms, and the tour of a great home, it was all more than we expected. We would encourage you to partake in the dinner, because Lynn's culinary skills are magnificent. You feel like you are living a special experience staying in this beautiful home.

Get ready to be impressed! Not a single detail was forgotten at this impeccably-maintained English estate. We enjoyed a peaceful night in the very spacious Brandon Suite...so quiet we didn't even realize there was a rooster on the property! Our small dog was welcome to join us, and was treated like royalty. Breakfast was delightful with Lynn and Patrick. All of the resident pets made us animal lovers feel right at home. As fellow innkeepers, we definitely felt like the bar has been raised by Nicholson Mansion! Thank you, Lynn and Patrick!

We had 7 in our party, and we all loved it! The food was out of site! and we couldn't have picked a better place to stay, just wish we could have stayed longer! Can't wait to go back! Thanks so much, Rose Owen, Gainesville, Georgia

A spur of the moment motorcycle trip through the Olde English district of South Carolina was made unforgettable by my surprising stay at the Nicholson Mansion. Not only was I a "biker", but it was off-season, mid-week, no reservation, and apparently the ONLY guest requesting a room for the night. It would have been very understandable for the owners to suggest some other (i.e. "boring") lodging in town. Not so with Lynn and Patrick, however. I was welcomed with a smile and treated like... well, the only guest. I recommend this amazing mansion to all my fellow motorcyclists looking for the rare or historic, out-of-the-norm nightly abode. Oh, and don't get me started on the incredible breakfast quiche and strawberry soup... I still have tears in my eyes.

A group of girlfriends (in our 40's) chose to get away to the lovely Nicholson House in Union for our Christmas party. Lynn and Patrick had beautifully decorated this gorgeous home for the holidays, and they were very helpful and cooperative to let us make ourselves at home and celebrate being together. We had a late night by the fire with lots of music and laughter and Christmas cheer. Breakfast was generous, delicious and lovely! Lynn and Patrick know how to welcome you and make you feel at home. The house is beautifully decorated and the rooms are spacious. I have already recommended this inn to friends and look forward to returning myself.

I must admit I'm a little prejudice about staying at the Nicholson Mansion since I was very familiar with it from childhood. The house was origually built by my grandmothers cousin so I was a frequent visitor as a child. I was very pleasantly please with the way the house and ground had bee restored. You can tell that Lynn and Patrick took extra special care in retoring the house to its original beauty. The meals I had were wonderful. Interesting enough the room I stayed was the Nicholson Room and the was a portrait of Emslie Nicholson on the wall(he was the bulder of th house).I was the only guest for a couple of days because I sayed in Union for a week so I had some time to spend to get to know Lynn and Patrick. I am an animal lover so I ejoyed all of the animals an dgot to know them very well. If and when I ever back to Unon for any reason I will diffently stay there. Thank you Lynn and Patrick for a wonderful stay making me feel like I had gone back in time to my childhood spending time playing with my cousin.

Staying here was one of the highlights of our trip. The house itself is beautiful, and lovingly cared for. Our room was spacious and well-appointed--we truly felt like guests and not customers. The wine and cheese every evening was delightful, and the time spent in conversation was very nice. Breakfast was delicious and not the regular quiche & juice. Our hosts were lovely people and my husband and I enjoyed getting to know them as well as wandering the house and grounds. The only thing that you may want to consider is there are not a lot of dining choices for dinner - this is not against the B&B at all, but be aware that dinner options are a little limited unless you want to drive a ways. But if you're looking for a peaceful pleasant place to stay, this is it!

This was our first BnB stay....and from what we have heard and seen from others regarding BnB stays...this experience went way beyond our expectations. It was a 20th Anniversary getaway and couldn't have been better! From the beautiful home with the antique furnishings to the most gracious hostess. Lynn was a delight to talk with and hear her stories, but she made you feel so welcome and comfortable in her home. Her attention to detail is outstanding and it carries over to her cooking which is scrumptious, homey and delightful. The bedroom suites are so spacious, that just sitting and looking out over the beautiful scenery from the sitting room is very peaceful and relaxing. We would never hesitate to recommend this BnB to anyone and everyone for it is well worth the visit.

I’ve stayed at a number of B&B’s and I’m always a little apprehensive. Sometimes you get great inn keepers and sometimes you get a beautiful house and grounds, in this case you get both. Lynn and Patrick are terrific people who really make you feel welcome. The food is great, Lynn loves to cook, which really evident in the quality and variety of her meals. The bedrooms are spacious and well appointed and the numerous sitting areas, both inside and out, are comfortable and relaxing. Overall this is one of the best B&B’s experiences I have ever had.

Union SC. may seem out of the way (depends on where your from) but my wife and I where attending the "Big Buck Grand National Cross Country Race" and in order to get my wife to hang out in the woods, mud, heat and humidity for 8 hours I knew I had to find a nice clean place to stay after. When I made the reservations I spoke direclty to Lynn and it was a pleasure, she was very kind and prompt and even offered to fix a special dinner for a nominal fee. Upon check in we were both very pleasantly suprised by the size, age and cleanliness of the Inn. Our room was wonderful. We were given a tour and history of the property and a very big suprise was the included wine tasting and social time in the cellar (more than a mere tasting I might add!). I would highly recommend taking advatage of the meal option, Lynn in a wonderful cook and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal and conversations with other guest and the owners. We slept like a baby that night and enjoyed a great breakfast before packing up and heading home. We Highly recommend this hidded treasure to anyone, and it is certainly worth the trip even if you have to go out of the way a bit. Marc and Denise Eason Lake Gaston, NC

I have stayed in many BnBs, but this was one of my favorites! The place is all elegance from the moment you turn into the winding shaded drive until you lay down on the luxurious bed and turn out the light. I cannot imagine any hostess whose graciousness or hospitality exceeds Lynn's, and it was a delight talking with her and her husband regarding their adventures and wonderful animals. The house is beautifully rehabilitated, and a source of decorating inspiration. The food is wonderful, and accompanied by generous pours of your beverage of choice. Very relaxing and refreshing two nights there!

Having not seen pictures of the mansion before arrival, (someone else made reservations) I was quite shocked to see this beautiful stone mansion sitting high atop a picturesque knoll. The interior was beautifully decorated with antiques and had a wonderful "come sit, relax, read a book" feel to it. The food was wonderful, and Lynn and Patrick couldn't have been any more gregarious and accommodating!!!
