"Having driven from the Channel to the Pyrenees and back very many times in the last ten years, we often found Poitou-Charentes convenient for over-nighting. Tiring of mixed value and variable standards from tourist hotels, often with indifferent service, how lucky were we to discover Maison Maurice just over three years ago. Since then we have never considered staying anywhere else and one-night stopovers have expanded to two. What more could we wish for? Attentive and generous hosts, Adrian and Penny, lovely, stylish rooms and excellent, good value meals. In fact, we always feel less like paying guests, more like good friends meeting up to enjoy a relaxing stay, home from home. In good weather (and the sun nearly always seems to shine!) Penny's informal garden is an absolute delight. The award of one of the best Chambre d'hotes in France is well deserved. We highly recommend Maison Maurice, not just for a stop-over but as an excellent base for a week's holiday in a lovely part of France. "
