From the common areas and rooms (we stayed in the Ida Lewis room with a private balcony) to the delicious breakfasts and gracious hosts, I cannot say enough positive things about the Samuel Durfee House! The location was perfect - one block off Thames, an easy walk to shopping, restaurants, the wharf area, and Tennis Hall of Fame. We drove to the cliff walk/mansions, but the off-street parking made it easy for us to come and go as we pleased. We also liked that it was a bit quieter than staying right on Thames Street. We would recommend this B&B to anyone and will definitely be returning in the future!

My husband and I stayed here as a mini-vacation within our summer vacation. Heather and Michael are wonderful hosts. We could not have asked for a better time in Newport. What we enjoyed: Proximity to downtown, on-site parking, the cleanliness of the room, the refrigerator in the room to include the Britta water filter, the scrumptious breakfast made fresh every morning (to include homemade bread), and their hospitality, making sure we had everything we needed. You can tell Michael and Heather love Newport and their guests. -- K and R Ps- The zucchini bread is delicious!

We had a wonderful time in Newport and really enjoyed our stay. We stayed in the Doris Duke suite and enjoyed the sitting room and loved having 2 bathrooms. It was a great location with great breakfasts and warm hospitality. Will stay there again if we return to Newport.

Very nice place and well located to park your car on site and walk to downtown and the mansions. Michael and Heather were the best from getting us settled in, taking the luggage up, having coffee and cookies in the afternoons, to the great breakfast both mornings of our stay. The rooms were clean and comfortable. We will be back the next time we are in Newport.

Stayed here for a long weekend and had a wonderful time. The breakfast was great and the host was very attentive and friendly. Beds are super comfy and the entire inn is very charming and clean. I would highly recommend staying here. We used to always go the hotel route but have been finding that staying at small inns really makes getaways more special.

We stayed two nights in the Harrison unite, and found the extra sitting area well worth the small premium over other rooms. It would be even nicer in print or summer weather when ou could take advantage of the associated private patio. The room had everything we needed, although lack of surface to put things on in the bathroom was a small annoyance. Breakfast was good, though not particularly lavish. The owners provided us with such information as we needed. The location is a convenient to downtown Newport as you could ask. Overall a very good choice.

This house could not be more conveniently located. It is only one block from every shopping, dining, romantic walk around the city you could ask for and just a quick three minute drive to the mansions and less than 20 minute drive to the lovely Newport Vineyards! I could not have asked for a more relaxing anniversary get away. The property is georgeous with all the charm of Newport!

We had a wonderful stay in early October at this bed and breakfast. The innkeepers were very welcoming and provided a relaxed atmosphere. Heather was very helpful in recommending places to go and places to eat keeping in mind what we were looking for. Breakfasts were delicious. It was also wonderful to come back to the room in the late afternoon with coffee/tea and snacks available. Being able to park off-street in private parking was definitely a plus as parking is at a premium in Newport. We stayed in the Ida Lewis room which was very comfortable and nicely decorated. Loved sitting on our private deck. Would definitely come back to stay here! Service, cleanliness, and comfort were outstanding.
