Took the family to Pittsburgh so that they could see their first Steelers game and found the Parador by searching Google. Proximity to Heinz Field can't be beat but beyond that, the room, service, breakfast and hosts were truly outstanding. Ed and Ty are wonderful and made our stay one to remember. The B&B is absolutely beautiful and you can tell that the staff works very hard at upkeep. Our room was perfect for me, my wife and 2 daughters. Ed makes a great breakfast. Don't waste your money on a chain hotel - they can't touch the personal service that you'll get at the Parador.

I stayed one night with my girlfriend and it was wonderful. Ed was really friendly and accommodating and the dogs were so cool. The African-themed room was beautiful, and breakfast was excellent. Would stay again in a heartbeat. I only wish it was longer. Will do it again. Thanks again. Woul suggest to anyone that wants to stay overnight near the North Shore.

The Parador is a really beautiful space and my room was quiet, spacious and pretty. The bathroom was fabulous. The staff was friendly and helpful. I can highly suggest this b+b over conventional hotels in the Pittsburgh area. It was also right in a friend's neighborhood and close to the light rail station.

Parador gets a 10. The Allamanda suite, large sitting room and huge bedroom and en suite bath, overlooks the side and rear garden. We were very comfortable there for our 3-night stay. The Parador's decor reflects our host Ed's love of the Caribbean and is a bright, cheerful counterpoint to the Victorian architecture of the house. The late 19th century home has beautiful millwork, stained glass and other features to admire while you are there. Read a book on the porch overlooking the tropical garden or find Razor, Ed's black lab, for a game of toss-the-tennis-ball. The inn is very convenient to free public transit, close enough to downtown to walk if you prefer, and the off-street parking of the inn is a big plus. Ed's breakfasts are delicious and served between 8 and 10 am. A wide choice of restaurants are close by for dinner. Thanks, Ed. We will return.

We enjoyed our 25th anniversary here. This place has an enchanting Caribbean theme with a beautiful, completely enclosed garden/courtyard area outside ... plenty of outside places to sit and relax. Breathtaking interior ... the furniture alone is amazing. Really cool place!

The Parador has beautiful furnishings that reflect the era of the home. The rooms are huge and very comfortable. Convenient location to mass transit in to the city. All in all a very good deal.

The Parador Inn was all we could ask for and more. Our stay consisted of being greeted by house staff, who gave us a tour of the Inn and invited us to meet the SR and JR VP of Hospitality in the kitchen (Razor and RJ). The next morning, our breakfast was warm and scrumptious. American dining with a Caribbean flare made each meal memorable: Mango and Cranberry/Orange Bread, Fruit & Yogurt Parfaits, Egg & Vegetable Frittata, Stuffed Apple French Toast, and your choice of tea, coffee, water, or orange juice. Our room also was very welcoming with its luxurious Victorian accoutrements. A handwritten note welcomed our return for the second night of our stay, and we were surprised by the care of our room while we were away. Overall, we plan on visiting again as soon as we get back into the Pittsburgh area, and encourage you to kick back and relax at the Parador Inn.

We had a great time at the Parador! The inn is beautiful with a lovely garden, for starters. I wish that we had been staying longer just to enjoy the place more. RJ and Razor (dogs) were pretty awesome and lots of fun--if you don't like dogs, they are easily avoidable, but if you do...Breakfast was amazing! We had pineapple parfaits and, honestly, the best french toast I have ever had. We did not have a car, but the location is great. The 'T' (metro) is just a few blocks away, making downtown easily accessible. We had a great time, and would totally come back for a future Pittsburgh visit!

We felt very at home and cozy here. There is just a welcoming feeling and Ed is such a great host. It is a very historic home rich in antiques but Ed brings a Carribean feel to your stay with murals and music. We had a great time walking to the casino, restaurants and museums.

The Parador Inn is a gem in Pittsburgh. Ed and all of the staff are friendly, welcoming, and helpful. The accommodations are spacious and historical/elegant/whimsical. There is lots of common space, indoors and out. Breakfasts are satisfying and different each day (we stayed for three nights). The inn is three blocks away from Heinz Field and the end of the "T" line, with free transportation to downtown.

Myself and 6 other of my girlfriends traveled to Pittsburgh for a quick getaway. The short story is we fell in love with Pittsburgh! One of the highlights of our trip was staying at The Parador Inn. It truly felt like a home away from home, except we were pampered like queens! Gorgeous rooms, the best B&B breakfasts I've had in a long time (fresh fresh fresh!) and very personable and helpful hosts (Ed, Ty). I will return to Pittsburgh and the Parador many more times. All 7 of us travelerss recommend it without reservation.

We stayed in late April; weather was on the fringe of chilly so the in-room fireplaces were an unexpected pleasure! Ed is an intelligent host, good personality, fills in local information and may have discount tickets to area museums. Plenty of space in the guest room so don't feel cramped. Quiet neighborhood, restful sleep. Nice amenities. Plus parking! I enjoyed that the sleeping rooms were interesting but not full of knick knacks. The main floor rooms have large well built wood furnitures and unbelievably beautiful chandeliers. Even the walls have subtle interesting murals. Always somewhere to explore and things to catch your eye, like the steel drum! Enjoy!

My husband and I recently spent a week-end in Pittsburgh (Marathon Week-end). This was the first experience we had with a bed and breakfast - the decor was amazing- the room relaxing and beautiful - the breakfast "yummy"! I commend the owners - Ed, Razor and RJ- very friendly and helpful. Dee freshened our room and was very helpful with directions to a location we wanted to visit.

Great visit at the Parador Inn. Ed and the staff were extremely welcoming & friendly, as were the black labs, Razor & RJ. Room was funky, roomy & very comfortable. Breakfast was outstanding and the location was just a 20 minute walk to PNC park for Pirates baseball. For Steelers games it is right around the corner. We highly recommend this Inn and plan on staying again. Rob & Laurie C. Owen Sound, ON

We came in to watch baseball at PNC Park. It was an easy 15 minute stroll to that, so very handy. Was nice to just leave my car parked in the free on-site parking. The staff were super friendly and helpful. Ed was extremely accommodating with his breakfasts, as I'm vegetarian and my girlfriend has a lactose allergy. The house is gorgeous. The rooms are huge. Only thing I wish was that there was more comfortable seating in the rooms, but it's understandable since they're trying to keep to antiques. Remote controlled gas fireplace was very cozy and useful. Went to the Warhol Museum and you can actually buy $9 tickets off of the staff (they buy in bulk and pass them along to you at cost). Great deal as regular admission is $20. Would love to sit in the courtyard sometime in the summer when the trees have leaves and the weather is nice. Great all around experience and I'd highly recommend this place.

Our daughter will be attending college in Pittsburgh and we wanted somewhere special to stay while we toured the school. We looked at every inn and hotel in the area and chose the Parador Inn-what a great choice we made! The inn is spectacular inside and out, each room and detail a sheer delight to the senses. This will be our home away from home when we visit.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Parador. I travel a lot for work and enjoy the more personal experience of a B&B. Ed does a wonderful job of making you feel welcomed and at home. He very graciously and deliciously met my restrictive dietary needs. I will be returning to the Parador whenever the opportunity arises.
4,8 sur avril 28, 2014
The inn is quite lovely, and the Caribbean theme blends beautifully with its Victorian roots. My wife and I spent the evening talking and drinking wine in front of the fireplace in the formal sitting room. It was delightful. Breakfast the next morning was just perfect: Kiwi parfaits, asparagus souffle, bacon, fresh juice, and coffee. We stayed in the Chenille room, which was large and lovely. Our only complaint is the shower set-up. It's been incorporated into the original tub, but the shower curtain resides on a hoop so narrow that there's no way to keep the plastic curtain from clinging to your body. Certainly not a relaxing way to get clean. If you choose this room, take a bath instead of a shower. Funky shower aside, we had a great stay. Ed is good company, and his two dogs are well-behaved, very friendly, and love attention. We will most certainly stay at the Parador on our next visit to Pittsburgh.

Parador Inn is a lovely place but the owner could go out of his way a bit more. This is in comparison to other places of this type which are more warm and welcoming. However, he was not in any way rude or unpleasant so I would certainly recommend Parador.

We really enjoyed the gas fireplaces that you can turn on and off with just a press of the button. The size of the bedrooms are so big that you don't need to spend time in the common rooms. However, the first floor dining room, library and living room/parlor are tempting too. If it were a bit later in Spring, the sun room and garden would have been good places to relax, as well. We were glad that the decor wasn't frilly. The location was nice: close enough to walk downtown, but far enough away to be quiet and comfortable. We aren't dog lovers, and the two dogs were very well behaved. I gave the dining an "okay" rating, because the orange toast wasn't very interesting and the crust was a bit tough. The parfaits were a nice option, but again "so-so" just banana and yogurt with a bit of granola. The lemon bread was lovely: warm and moist. The coffee was decent.

Had a wonderful weekend at the Parador Inn. Exceptionally friendly owner and staff. Beautiful and fascinating house and furnishings. Our room was huge! And although the bed looked old-fashioned, it was a very comfortable mattress. The breakfasts were delicious, and we enjoyed having a glass of port in the common rooms in the afternoon. We walked to the riverfront, walked to the Warhol museum, and had the weather been warmer my husband would have walked to a ball game. We plan to stay here again.

My husband, 13-year-old son, dog and I just got back from our first trip to Pittsburgh, during which we had the good fortune to stay at the Parador Inn. Located in a fun and funky neighborhood within walking distance of downtown. Off-street parking. Impeccable service. Clean and cozy accommodations in the pet-friendly carriage house, which sits just behind a beautifully restored mansion. We enjoyed our daily full breakfast in the mansion. Enclosed courtyard where our dog could play while we relaxed. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for an alternative to all of the chain hotels.

Our reservation was handled very professionally. The house was in great shape and full of interesting furniture and decorative objects. Our room (Bird of Paradise) was roomy, clean and comfortable. We particularly liked having a working fireplace in our room. Ed, our host, made sure we were well taken care of. He pointed us to where we could find extra glassware, a corkscrew, and cold bottled water. Our breakfast was tasty and ample, and we were even able to add a couple of in-town guests to our table. Ed provides a guest pass to the nearby YMCA, which would have been really convenient if we had had more free time on this trip.

On our arrival, Ed, the owner and proprietor, greeted us at the front door, asked us to set our bags down, and gave us a quick tour of the first floor. He is proud of the Parador, and rightly so; the architecture and furnishings are amazing! Comfortable furniture groupings, incredible trim work and furniture, beautiful stained-glass windows, and subtly tropical murals on the wallsall combine to make the place unique. We met his friendly Black Labs during the tour; if you're not a dog person, don't worry, they don't have the run of the place. He showed us to our room, told us we were free to look through a couple of other rooms that weren't occupied (which we did), and asked what time we'd like breakfast. He provided local dining recommendations as well; there are some great places close by, including Thai and an eclectic burger bar. The next morning, we met in the dining room for breakfast. Some of the offerings included a pear parfait, freshly-baked banana loaf, and a vegetable quiche, along with orange juice and fresh, hot coffee and tea. Everything was delicious! If you're looking for a generic hotel, this is not for you. If you want a place with great ambiance and character, with a friendly, knowledgeable proprietor who really enjoys what he's doing, and in a very convenient location (five minutes from downtown), I highly recommend the Parador.

This is a fun and somewhat quirky place to stay in Pittsburgh. If you are up for something different and want to experience a step back into history, you should try this hidden little gem. Also, don't take my 3 star ratings as a negative--I expected a very clean, inviting place with great service, great food, and unique décor--so my expectations were met. The weather was also not the best, so that made a difference in my outlook. I would definitely stay again and would love to try it in the spring/summer...

My husband and I were delighted to stay at the Parador Inn, which we have wanted to do although we don't live that far away. We had tickets for the theater in downtown Pittsburgh on a night when snow was predicted. Making reservations at this lovely Inn was the perfect way to end the night and not have to drive on snow-covered roads. Ed welcomed us, showed us around (we love old homes), and topped off the stay with a yummy breakfast! We had a cozy well-appointed room. You have to try this place yourself! ------ Sarah Schneider, Pittsburgh North Hills

We would most certainly recommend The Parador Inn! Everything was perfect including but not limited to the convenient free parking, breath taking architectural details of the home (you've got to see them), the massive furniture pieces that complement the decor, the room accommodations ( right down to a night light in the bathroom and a flashlight next to the bed- of all things). Breakfast was yummy and served ( and cleaned up, too) with a smile. A most delicious dinner was just a short walk from the Inn, and everyone we walked by were so friendly, including all the fine folks on the train system we rode into downtown for an event. The train system, it's cars and stations were incredibly clean too.Why would you spend your hard earned money at a giant no personality hotel chain when you truly enjoy your evening or weekend out/away while making memories to last a lifetime?

Husband and I always stay at the Parador whenever we come to town. It's a gorgeous place and Ed has put a lot of love into making it happen. The rooms are all magnificent and the breakfast is always delicious. The price is also exceptionally reasonable for the size and quality of the rooms. If you go to, say, the Negley Inn, you'll be paying twice as much for a tiny closet. Also, the pictures on the Parador's website do NOT do the rooms justice. They are large and gorgeous.

After searching for standard (boring) hotels and finding nothing less than $200/night on Columbus Day weekend, I took a chance and looked at a couple B&B's. $150/night for a place with real charm and history was amazing (even if Pittsburgh is an oddly expensive place to stay). The Mansion is very large with many interesting features and nooks to explore. Some of the unadvertised ammenities include free bottled water and soda in the kitchen and guest access to kitchen utensils (e.g. plates & bottle-openers) should you choose to have an informal picnic in the garden. Breakfast was served promptly each morning and was delicious. Mandarin French Toast one morning, and a Vegatable Quiche the next. Both days a parfait, coffee, tea, and toast were also included. The owner was also to get us $9 tickets to the Carnegie and the Warhol museums (roughly half-price). The only possible complaint is that the stairs are amazingly creaky. Felt like I'd wake-up the whole house when climbing to my room at 2am. But, honestly, once in my room the noises from others never bothered me. Downtown is a quick 15mn walk accross the bridge. Even "the Strip" is an easy 30mn walk and even though Pittsburgh seems pretty rundown in a number of places, the wife and I never felt particularly concerned about crime. Highly recomend the Parador to anyone who wants to stay somewhere that has personality rather than the cardboard cookie-cutter chain hotels.

The inn was beautiful and convenient to ballparks, food, downtown and sights. The rooms were large and interesting in decor. Breakfast was tasty and healthy. The owner accommodated our late exit by allowing us to keep the key to the inn to prepare for our ride. Would definitely stay again.

We have come to Pittsburgh the past eight years for a mini vacation around Labor Day. We have stayed in hotels twice and two other B & B before finding the Parador Inn. We have just completed our 4th stay which usually lasts 4 nights. The location is ideal for our interests and provides walkable access to all of Pittsburgh. Every room we have had is unique and has been very comfortable. Our host Ed is an excellent cook for breakfast which includes a different parfait as well as select breads along with a main entrée. He makes you feel at home and is always helpful in providing insights and suggestions for things to do and see. For the price, value and hospitality, we will continue to stay with Ed for future Pittsburgh visits.

Visit to downtown Pittsburgh and Falling Water for the weekend. Parador was beautiful and perfect place to stay for a weekend with my wife.

After staying at the Parador, I feel like staying at independently owned hotels from now on. It's a charming place where we instantly felt at home. The antique decor of our room and unique feel of the hotel made me feel like I was traveling back in time -- way cooler than a cookie cutter marriott room. We received an email saying there would be breakfast in the morning and asking if we had any food sensitives. I let them know that we were gluten-intolerant, and they prepared a special breakfast for us. Fantastic experience all around.

Parador is in the North Shore neighborhood of Pittsburgh, close to Pirates and Steelers stadium. Warhohl museum, and the Aviary. The Parador is one of Pittsburgh's great Victorian homes. Ed, the owner, has tastefully injected an island theme. Importantly he has invested heavily in the building's systems. Comfortable and plenty of detail to look at. A decent but not vast collection of books. Ed does a good breakfast and reacts to special dietary requests. It is a long way to the top of the stairs, typical of these mansions. Rooms are comfy and spacious. If you have difficulty getting in and out of bathtubs check the rooms closely. Some are tub/shower combos and some of the tubs are very high/deep. Great for soaking. A little challenging for some to shower. The neighborhood is recovering urban. A great Thai restaurant within a block and a very good burger/bar. Also a 7/11 and McDonalds within a block. Walking distance to park and light rail. Free parking at the Inn.

I am going to be travelling to Pittsburgh on business regularly for the next 16 months. Sold out hotels and need led me to the Parador. Charming, different, quiet and delightful. Plus working wireless and free parking!!!

My husband and i spent one night here, as we were in town for a concert at nearby Stage AE (MOST convenient, you can walk to the concert and avoid the parking fiasco!). Ed got us checked in quickly because i'd mentioned in an email that we wanted to basically drop our bags and head to the concert - he helped us do just that. We stayed in the Lady Palm suite, which is the entire top floor of the house. IT was HUGE. It's actually 2 separate rooms, one living room and one bedroom, plus the separate large bathroom. I dont think i've ever sen a B&B where my room was even close to the size of ONE of these rooms, let along having both to ourselves. I've lived in apartments smaller than that! Very clean, very comfortable. The house itself is just a work of art, it's gorgeous! Breakfast was wonderful - baked oatmeal, a yogurt/fruit parfait, bacon, coffee, tea, etc. We'll definitely be back for the next concert! Thanks Ed for a wonderful stay.

Found the Parador in a Google search for B&B's Pittsburgh. The house is a magnificent Victorian built by one of PB's lesser-known, but filthy rich steel barons in the 1890's. You could spend a full day finding details (leather crown molding, engraved hinge plates, for instance). Every room has its individual charm, and all are at least 400 square feet! That's nice, but add in the laid-back, but diligent management of Ed, and his partners, RJ & Razor, and you've got a recipe for a memorable stay, and that's just what my wife, my brother, his wife and I enjoyed. We even stayed an extra day!

The Parador is lovely! We enjoyed our stay and found the location to be very convenient. The cost per room is competitive and a good value. Our only complaint is that the shower in the Lady Palm is not suitable for a tall person (6'2").

I'm already recommending people visit Pittsburgh and stay at the Parador. It's a real find. The building is gorgeous, the rooms are huge, and Ed makes you feel incredibly comfortable. And you're right in one of the more interesting parts of town - within walking distance of the mattress factory, mexican war streets, the aviary, and all the big stadiums in the other direction. It's terrific.

Parador Inn has become our home away from home when we travel to Pittsburgh. The accommodations are first class and the décor is a unique blend of antiques and Key West. Walking distance to the Casino, the Stadiums, museums and the subway.

We recently took advantage of the "3 for 2" offer, valid Sunday thru Thursday nights, which made the stay exceptionally good value. Photographs do not do the Parador Inn justice–it is breath-takingly beautiful. Ed has successfully gone to great lengths to create an oasis, both inside and out, that is very conveniently located on the North Side of Pittsburgh. It is within easy walk of the "T" which takes you into downtown for free, although the walk is extremely pleasant and picturesque and takes only about 20 minutes. The neighborhood has a lot of interesting buildings and restaurants, and Ed is happy to make suggestions. All of the rooms are gorgeous, colorful, and spacious, even the smallest, the Bird of Paradise, which has a king-size bed and enormous claw foot tub that quickly fills to the brim with luxurious hot water. House-keeping is efficiently handled by the delightful, friendly Dee. If you can bear to leave the beauty and charm of your room, you will be greeted with a delicious home baked breakfast of fruit parfaits, breads, and one of oatmeal, quiche, french toast, etc. served with bacon on the side. Be sure to relax in the garden and enjoy the company of the labs, RJ and Razor. No hotel can match the beauty and tranquility of the Parador. I cannot recommend it highly enough and definitely want to return.

Our stay was FANTASTIC. My wife and I always try and find a bed and breakfast when attending conferences. We prefer the ambiance to a big corporate hotel, enjoy walking local neighborhoods, and we'd honestly rather give our money to the little guy. The Parador inn is EXTREMELY convenient. It was a 5 minute walk to the "T" rail line that took us blocks away from the convention center. Trains left about every 5 minutes and it is the end of the line so you can't get off at the wrong stop at night. A cab from downtown back to the B&B cost 8 bucks...can't beat that! The neighborhood is walkable, the house is gorgeous, our room was awesome, the dogs were super friendly, and the owner was extremely nice. I wish we had stayed longer. Do yourself a favor and forget the big corporate hotel, treat yourself to the quaintness of this neighborhood, convenient B&B.

Stayed at the Parador last weekend on a trip to explore Pittsburgh. The Inn is amazing with high ceilings, sprawling rooms, original woodwork, and vintage furniture. It is not fruffy, but instead very relaxing. There is a garden room and sandy "beach" outside. Ed is very nice and gave us recommendations for getting around and things to do. Food is delicious and accommodating. Will definitely stay here again on our next visit.

Our child recently graduated from Pitt. As our family is scattered across the country, we were seeking a place for all of us to stay together. We found it at the Parador. We booked 7 of the 9 rooms and had a FABULOUS stay! Ed, the owner, was more than accommodating to our needs. We felt as if we were in our own home, hosting our family. Travel around the city from the Parador was relatively easy and we enjoyed checking out the local interest items that were within walking distance. All of us agree that we would definitely stay here again. Thanks Ed for a wonderful experience.

Ed has a great sense of humor, 2 wonderful dogs which was a nice surprise. The Inn was extremely clean. The rooms were beyond amazing. And, the food was excelent. It was such a great place to stay, we would come back just for the Inn. Well done, and thank you!

Well, if you combine a classy 1880's Victorian mansion in a great location on the North Shore of Pittsburgh and somehow pretend you are in the Caribbean, you get the Parador Inn. Even without the Caribbean theme, the home is a beautiful wonder, with rich wood furniture, stained glass, custom murals, greenhouse room, cupboard and art deco parlor. Add to this attention to detail touches like a 1926 Hemingway's book, "A Call to Arms" even with his wire rim glasses, and you get an idea of what an eclectic place this is. Somehow, a Caribbean theme doesn't fit in cold Pittsburgh, but if you play along, you realize that it is really a metaphor for finding a place to kick off your shoes, relax and feel like here's a place you should put away your troubles. The place is a 15 minute walk to Heinz Field and the Carnegie Science Museum. Free parking for guests. The room was roomy with satellite TV and hardwood floors so new that you can still smell the varnish. Coffee maker and small refrig are available. Bath and shower. Free wifi and a pass to YMCA four blocks away is available. Breakfast was french toast, cooked and served by Ed, the owner/host. A personalized email thank you upon departure was the final nice touch for this at home B and B.

We are a couple of retirees who had never been to Pittsburgh, so added it to our trip when we traveled to Falling Water (an hour plus away). We love B&B's and always try to find one when we travel and weren't disappointed with the Parador Inn. Lovely neighborhood, great for walking and mansion gazing. Convenient to putlic transportation (the T is a short walk toward Heinz Stadium). The building is large and well decorated in the Victorian style. The Caribbean theme seems unusual, but Ed has made it work. Plenty of space to lounge and take in the artistic rooms. Outdoor sitting areas in front and back. Two beautiful black labs to entertain. Lovely healthy breakfasts beautifully served. I loved the tall creaky stairs up to our 3rd floor room (Lady Palm). It was huge, and could have slept two more people in the adjoining sitting room (sofa bed), but we had it all to ourselves. We've stayed in over 40 B&B's and this is one of the best. Great value. And we learned that being over 65 allows you to use the public transportation for FREE, including the incline. We took the 71C bus to Clayton, the Frick Art Center, which returned us to the Steel Plaza T, where we caught out free ride back "home." We werre impressed with the helpfulness of the folks in Pittsburgh in getting us to our various destinations. (Realized later that we could have used the Google Map feature on our iPhone as well, but the people part was so much better) Highly recommend the Parador for visits to Pittsburgh and will surely return. Ed is a stellar host.

Yes there really are Island delights awaiting you in Pittsburgh at this inn. DO NOT be dissuaded from visiting, because it works, and works very well. It is even complete with a steel drum in the parlor, for the guests to play, should they wish. And a fabulous antique grand piano for those with more traditional Pennsylvanian musical talents. Our room was on two floors, and was a perfect accommodation for our visit, at the top of its own private stairs, with its own private entrance. It had a fireplace and small refrigerator, plus tv and dvd in the sitting area, as well as an additional tv upstairs in the bedroom and bath area. All rooms have terrific antiques and wonderful amenities, you can't go wrong with a choice. Food for breakfast was outstanding, and served in the dining room under the incredible ceiling. Memorable setting for memorable meal! Can't wait to return, especially as it so close to all things good in Pittsburgh. Less than a five minute drive to the National Aviary, and an equally short trip across the river to the Warehouse District, stadia, and all the museums .Even the neighborhood worth a visit, just ask for the walking tour information available to guest. Special thanks to the Senior and Junior VP's of Customer relations!

I recently booked a short trip to Pittsburgh for my parents. They returned, singing high praises for the Parador Inn and say that they will definitely stay there (and only there!) for any future trips to the city. "Magnificent Room and an Outstanding Host in Ed!" was their immediate reply when asked about the hotel. They said that the location was perfect, as well. I was really pleased that they gave The Parador a 5-star rating in every catagory. Well done, Ed!

We had yet another great weekend getaway at the Parador Inn. Our room was very comfortable, with a great gas fireplace that kept the room toasty while we watched a movie. Our yummy breakfasts including tasty bread, savory bacon (perfectly prepared) and some traditional Costa Rican fare. Ed also steered us towards some lovely local eateries to enjoy. A conference took me to Pittsburgh, but - alas! - the conference hotel was sold out. I adore Victorian-era architecture and have never been one much for hotels anyway, so . . . enter the Parador Inn - a true blessing in disguise! Located in Pittsburgh's historic Mexican War Streets district, the Parador is lovingly managed by the hospitable and very knowledgeable Ed. About my room: it was far beyond my wildest hopes (it had gorgeous views of the garden on one side, and was well-appointed with a window-bench lounge area overlooking the street) - stained- and leaded-glass galore! I was also lucky enough to stay during the early part of October - so the inn was decked out in full Halloween regalia. It was splendid. The breakfast offerings were freshly-made banana pancakes, bacon, and a delightful parfait. And guests are invited to have a nip of port in the evening. Ed's two sweet and happy dogs - RJ and Razor - are on the premises, but if you are averse to dogs, fear not! You almost have to seek them out, as they don't seem to have run of the inn. Highly recommended, and I shall be back!

My wife and I stayed one night at The Parador Inn as part of a first anniversary trip. The inn was immaculately decorated with great murals on the walls. Ed was a great host with a great sense of humor. Upon our arrival, he took time to personally show us through all the common areas of the inn as well as take the time to map out several recommended restaurants and sights of interest around the city. In the morning, Ed served a very tasty breakfast. Given that the inn is an old building, you hear the inherent creaks and cracks associated with such a structure. That aside, we found our room to be quiet as we didn't hear noise from other guests. We did hear some minor traffic noise, but that's to be expected in an urban location. Overall, we loved our stay and would definitely stay there again if we return to Pittsburgh in the future.

We chose the Parador for our recent trip to Pittsburgh. Upon arriving we were immediately impressed with the historic mansion. With a ring of the doorbell we were greeted by Ed, the owner and innkeeper. He was very pleasant and proudly showed us around the 8000 sq feet. The home is still in wonderful condition with mostly original floors and architectural details. We chose the original master bedroom, and it was very nice, the only downside is the Victorian bed creaked a bit, but that is to be expected. Ed, who creatively managed to marry the Victorian and Carribbean flair is successful. The neighborhood is very safe and within walking distance of everything, and the off-street private parking is a major plus. I highly recommend the Parador Inn as the location, hospitality and wonderful breakfast will offer a great treat!

We only stayed for a night at the Parador Inn, but it was very nice. Our host was friendly, very helpful and knowledgeable about the area, and the rooms (we peeked into a couple of the vacant ones) were all very unique and interesting--no cookie cutter sameness here, like you'd get at a chain. A very nice bed and breakfast. There isn't much right in the immediate neighborhood, aside from a couple of nice restaurants on the street--if you are not up for lengthy walks, you'll need to drive or take the T into town, but it's free or cheap. We'd stay here again next time we're in Pittsburgh.

We came from out of town to see a show at Stage AE. After looking at some of the local hotels, I decided to see if there were any B&B's within walking distance and found this gem. For the less than the price of a hotel room, we were treated to island charm in the middle of Pittsburgh. The B&B is an old mansion and has a wonderful relaxing atmosphere, inside and out. The innkeeper, Ed, greeted us with two super friendly black labs. Ed recommended a local Thai restaurant for dinner. Next time we'll ask where the nearest wine shop is, because this place was BYOB. We were able to walk to and from out concert down by the waterfront. For breakfast the next morning, Ed had waiting for us melon parfaits and orange glazed french toast. He told us about some local art galleries that made me wish we had planned for more time in the city. We'd definitely stay here again.

Ed has made this place a warm and welcoming jewel of a home-away-from-home. We stayed in the African Tulip room, with the zebra rug (real, as far as I could tell), but I could have enjoyed any of the rooms. The common areas are comfortable and fun to hang out in as well. Breakfast was excellent, and the dogs are sweethearts. It's also super close to free transit into downtown. What else is there to say? Great place! I'll stay here again if/when I come back to Pittsburgh!

Throughly enjoyed our stay in the Lady Palm...clean, comfortable, very quiet, extra large room! The entire Inn was beautiful, full of character and charm. Ed, the owner, couldn't have been friendlier and more helpful...very attentive and detail orientated. We truly enjoyed our stay and cannot wait to return. Melonie Q., West Salem, Ohio

It is a very beautiful B&B, and room is clean. The Parador Inn is excellent!

I have to say that the room at the Parador is easily one of the best I've ever stayed in. I was really impressed by the owners helpful advice on dining and entertainment, loved every room in the Inn, and thoroughly enjoyed my first visit to Pittsburgh. When I go back, I will definitely see if there is "room at the Inn".

Lovely old home, very nicely restored with beautiful furniture and accessories. Our host was pleasant, helful and a good cook! The location was great for exploring the city on foot. I would recommend this to friends. Ed and his canine friends were most welcoming!

The Parador Inn was a tropical oasis in the midst of blistering heat and crushing crowds. As first timers to Pittsburgh, not only were we delighted by our accommodations and excellent food, but we were given suggestions on what to see, where to eat and directions on using various transportation options. We look forward to a return visit and being welcomed once again by VP of Public Relations "Razor".

We recently visited Pittsburgh on vacation and stayed at The Parador Inn. We were very happy with our choice and would book again should we travel to that city. This inn captures the best of a 19th century mansion with a unique Caribbean-style theme. The location is downtown and near to many of the sites we had planned to visit. We were delighted that we had only to walk around the corner to view terrific July 4th fireworks over the river. The inn has a wonderful garden and we would have spent more time relaxing there if the weather - beyond everyone's control - had not been so hot. It features a pond/birdbath & landscaping that takes advantage of the urban setting. The breakfasts were creative and delicious - one day an inventive quiche, the other French toast, and a Caribbean porridge I'd never before encountered. Ed, the host, is very responsive to specific dietary needs. Another feature of this inn are the amazing "Sr. & Jr. VPs of Hospitality" who just happen to be black Labs. These dogs are people lovers and their wonderful dispositions really added to our experience at The Parador. My only recommendation is that the lighting in our room needed to be enhanced, perhaps with an additional floor lamp. Older homes with tall ceilings often present lighting challenges and although we did not spend much time in our rooms during the day, in the evening I like to read before bed. This is easily fixable. All told, we definitely enjoyed our stay, would stay again, and would definitelyrecommend the inn to friends.

We stayed at the Parador while attending a weekend concert. The facilities were very clean. Dee and Ed provided a carefree, homey atmosphere and great breakfast fare! Located on an historic side street in Pittsburgh, we were able to walk to Heinz Field for the concert and walk and view Pittsburgh very easily by walking to the "L" train which was mostly free! We loved our stay and would definitely return or recommend to friends.

This Victorian Mansion in Old Allegheny City (Pittsburgh's North Shore) provides a great setting for a relaxing and enjoyable stay. Ed and his team (two very friendly black labs) have carried the Caribbean decor and theme throughout, and it really works with the old Victorian era woodwork and space. Interior and exterior spaces are welcoming and comfortable. We had a brief but very enjoyable stay, and I recommend this B&B highly.

My husband and I both work in a high school, and traveled to the Parador at the conclusion of yet another busy school year. It was a perfect place to unwind and destress. The proprietor is very helpful, but does not hover: 2 great qualities as the host of a B&B. We also loved the location as we could walk everywhere, and enjoyed the North Side of the City.

We wanted to attend a baseball game in PGH and couldn't have stayed anywhere better than Parador! (The football stadium is even closer.) The food was even better. We enjoyed our stay and hope to go back in the future.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Pittsburgh and the accomodations and breakfast at the Parador Inn. The only negative was that we arrived at 2:00, ( an hour before check-in) because we were not familiar with the city. The host was quite taken aback that we were early even though we had no intention of checking in or to hurry up the process. When I asked for directions he acted like it was an ordeal to take five minutes to do so even though he did, in the end ,give us directions. He was obviously quite stressed because of a huge event at the inn the night before. After the initial meeting things improved but I did not find him to be as friendly and cordial as other reviewers have stated nor compared to hosts/owners of other establishments where I have stayed.

We arrived for a one night stay at the Parador while in town for a concert. We stayed in the Allamanda suite, which was cute. The other rooms we saw were great as well. Breakfast was good and we got to play fetch with one of the doggies, which was fun for us because we are dog people. Everyone was super friendly. We would definitely go back!!

We live in Pittsburgh but were looking for a place to take a night away and enjoy the city, and staying at the Parador ended up being the key to not only a wonderful night but discovering a whole new side to a city we already love. Located right next to downtown, the Parador is a gorgeously restored mansion, and you'd never think a Caribbean theme would complement the architecture of this old home, yet the use of local artists' work and their wonderful subtlety truly does make it seem like paradise. The rooms are spacious, sumptuously furnished, and squeaky clean, and each unique. The room -- or suite, I should say -- we stayed in on the third floor was beautiful; we couldn't believe we'd found this place. Ed gave great recommendations of things to see and do on the North Side and around the city, but we loved his local recommendations so much we never ended up leaving (except for a walk to the casino). He's also a wonderful host, who we got to kick back and talk to on the porch. If you're coming to Pittsburgh and need to be near downtown, skip the big hotels and come here; you'll never see Pittsburgh in quite the same way.

The Parador Inn..... Words and photos cannot describe how gorgeous and full of charm this place is. I had never stayed at a bed and breakfast before. So now, any others I stay at in the future will have A LOT to live up to. The owner, Ed, was such a sweetie pie. Upon arrival, he showed us around this beautiful mansion that was built in 1870. He has two adorable black labs, Razor and RJ, that were very well-behaved and they don't come into the mansion living areas at all (in case you're not a dog lover or you're allergic). This place was wall-to-wall, off-the-hook amazing. Everywhere you looked you found eye candy. Stained glass windows, fireplaces galore, antique furniture everywhere! I couldn't stop sighing and getting a tad bit upset because homes like this just aren't built anymore. Ed told us that the place had only had four owners in the 142 years since it was built. So luckily, it had kept all of its original charm. Our room was just as spectacular as the rest of the place. We stayed in the African Tulip. The photos just do it no justice. The room was huge! Stunning, ornate fireplace mantle, window seat to look down at the street below, stained glass window, adorable bathroom with vintage fixtures. I couldn't have asked for anything better. It was simply breath-taking and very romantic. The Parador is in a great location, as you can walk to several nearby restaurants and attractions. If you're not sure where to go, ask Ed. He'll get out the map and show you exactly how to get there. He can also recommend great places to check out. The breakfast! It was delicious each morning. We stayed two nights so we were lucky to have two lovely breakfasts here. GREAT coffee. Really, it was pretty remarkable. I should have asked where it came from. Thank you Ed! If I ever return to Pittsburgh, I would not hesitate to stay at the Parador again.

What a grand place! The inside is kept in meticulous fashion, not only with cleanliness but also with attention to the detail keeping with the period of the house itself. The breakfast was wonderful (kudos to the French Toast!!). The host, Ed, was very attentive and accommodating. What more can I say? I would stay there again in a heartbeat.

This past stay (April 25-27) was our 4th stay at the Parador Inn. We love this place. First off, the owner (Ed) totally enjoys what he does - and his love for the house is well-represented. It is an awesome house. (I cannot imagine this house having been a one-family place, at some point in time... It is huge.) The bedrooms are humongous - and each one FILLED with character. (Plus, the beds are comfortable. Got some great sleeping done!) The yard is beautiful, too. Breakfast was plentiful - the coffee outstanding. There IS one bad thing I can say about our stays there... THEY DON'T LAST LONG ENOUGH!!! Seriously - I have absolutely nothing negative to say about the Parador Inn... Nothing I can ask Ed to improve upon. I love this place.

A memorable piece of old Pittsburgh in a restored neighborhood. Walking, stores, beautiful churches and townhouses, and easy access to downtown make for a wonderful travel destination. Truly a gem expressing the gracious ideals of the gilded age, but with the easy accessibility of the modern Midwest. My wife has extreme dietary restrictions, and a complete and accommodating breakfast was planned and served for us both; thank you! We hope to return to the Parador and Pittsburgh. I never expected to find such a charming b&b so close to downtown Pittsburgh (or any city, for that matter). My husband & I enjoyed dinner & the ballet in the cultural district, then popped across the river to relax at the Parador. Ed was as warm as could be and the house is packed with charm & character. The Parador Inn is a lovely place to stay. I was here for almost 2 weeks on business, staying in a large upstairs suite in the carriage house. The Inn is an old mansion that has been wonderfully done as a B&B. Ed offers helpful advice on restaurants and local attractions. Breakfast is terrific- 3 course every day, with yogurt parfait, home-made bread, and entree. In 2 weeks there, there was no repetition of entree & all were terrific. Walking distance to downtown, and plenty of good restaurants walking distance from the inn.

When you step into the Parador, all stresses disappear. I feel pampered just walking in. The rooms and common areas are amazing and gorgeous, and the pictures on the website don't do them justice. Although much of the common areas are pretty formal, the back porch is a great place to have a beer or just relax and read. Breakfast is also always amazing, and Ed is super nice, friendly, and attentive. My husband and I always stay at the parador; everywhere else is just a disappointment.

An awesome inn with tons of character. I couldn't enjoy the courtyard (a November stay) but I want to come back in warmer weather to do so. Breakfasts were delicious. Room that I stayed in was on the street side of the inn and cars were a bit noisy (other rooms don't front on the street). Nice, small upscale bistro (Brix) is a block walk away.

Fantastic house with some amazing rooms. Easy to forget that you are in a bed and breakfast with the amount of space in each room and ability to spread out and relax. Definitely a place to stay whenever I come through Pittsburgh. For Steelers games it is a very easy, 5 minute walk to the stadium. Ed is a great manager but on the busy days (steeler games) it would be great if he had someone to help him.

I had a business trip to Pittsburgh and prefer to stay in small inns when traveling rather than big, boring chain hotels. The Parador Inn did not disapppoint and reinforced my belief that this is the way to travel. The house is a beautiful and historic house that has been lovingly restored. My room, the least expensive I believe, was huge. It had a large flat screen TV (tastefully blended into the decor) and a fireplace with the original tile. There were two charming dogs who were friendly and welcoming but completely unintrusive. The location is in a great historic area and there is a very pleasant river walk back to downtown. I would stay here again.

The garden is a delight, the common rooms are gorgeous and the bedrooms are fabulous. The homemade breakfasts are delicious. The innkeeper and the staff are so great, and they gave us some awesome referrals to great neighborhood eateries. The Northside in Pittsburgh is awesome, and we're so glad we stayed there instead of downtown...it's very walkable and centrally located, yet it is has a quiet neighborly feel. The National Aviary, the Mattress Factory, the Andy Warhol Museum, the stadiums, the Carnegie Science Center and the beautiful river bridges into downtown are all right there! We had an amazing trip...thank you, Parador Inn!

I stayed at Parador Inn for a get-together weekend with my sister. I wasn't sure what to expect at a B & B, a chatty host, hanging out with the other guests, or what. I really appreciated Ed's letting me check in after 9pm on Friday night. I enjoyed his breakfasts. The Inn is beautiful and quiet. The Halloween decorations were really fun. We had a fabulous Thai meal at the restaurant up the street. The location was close to everything we planned to do. I don't anticipate coming to Pittsburgh again, but I would stay at the Parador Inn again, definitely.

Ed is a very good host - the location is great -near the riverwalk, stadiiums, museum. The neighborhood is in transition to being upscaled and gentrified. If you aren't into the Carribean this is not the place for you. I love Ed's offbeat decorating. The place has some terriffic antiques mixed with Ed's Carribean accents. It is almost where it needs to be - it could still use some paint and woodwork revival but that is also part of its charm. Ed makes a great breakfast and is a terriffic host. We took advantage of the pay 2 stay 3 special and I would say that price was in line with the property. If nose keeps you awake - stay in the back of the House.

I stayed here on a business trip and was very pleased by the unique Caribbean/Victorian ambience (it works - really!), which has been created with obvious attention and care. The neighborhood is outside the mainstream, but not a problem. It took 30 minutes to walk downtown or 10 minutes on the bus, which stops right in front of the inn. Everyone else at my conference was staying in chain hotels, and I felt so lucky and fortunate to have chosen an interesting alternative!

My husband and I got married at The Parador on August 6th of this year. Throughout the wedding planning process, the Inn owner (Ed Menzer) was prompt about returning emails and gave helpful suggestions about caterers, equipment rentals, etc. Ed had a few simple rules regarding check-in/check-out, wedding vendors, and events, but this should not be taken negatively. He is very organized and works tirelessly to make sure that Inn guests are comfortable and satisfied with their stay. Our wedding party stayed a the Inn during the wedding weekend and all were thoroughly impressed with the beautiful ambiance, uniqueness of each room, cleanliness, and delicious breakfast that Ed prepares himself. Several people told me that while staying at the Inn they forgot they were in Pittsburgh because it felt like such a retreat. On our actual wedding day, Ed worked nonstop from sunrise into the late hours of the night to make sure that our wedding was flawless...and it was! Several of my family members came up to me after the wedding and commented on how hard Ed worked behind the scenes. We truly felt like he and his assitants took a genuine interest in making sure that everyone enjoyed the night. It was easy to trust that he had everything under control. Overall, our experience at The Parador Inn was excellent. The Parador is a home away from home and a hidden gem. I would recommend it to anyone that asked, and I can't wait to find an excuse to stay there again.

First time visiting the Parador and it was a great experience. Picked it primarily because we were attending a Pirates game (too bad it was after the losing streak) and the Warhol museum (not to mention close to Rivers Casino). Not only were we able to walk to all of our destinations, but the accommodations were outstanding! Highly recommend the Parador for anyone visiting or doing business on the North Shore. Ed and the dogs were great and the mix of Victorian and Caribbean styles blend nicely together. A+++ Jeff Shurilla

12 ladies from my church stayed at The Parador for two nights and were more than satisfied with our stay. Ed, the owner, was very personable and bent over backward to make our stay just perfect. The decor is even better than what you may see on the website. Amazing! The breakfast was delicious; one morning we had quiche, the next we had stuffed french toast. A wonderful stay and we would come back in a heartbeat. Thank you Ed and staff.

The Parador Inn is a very interesting place with a quiet location. We stayed in the master bedroom and it was enormous. I liked the ambiance and the owners two dogs were friendly. The owner was helpful with recommendations. The food was good but a little sweet for my taste. Each day we had a sweet bread, orange juice, bacon, and yogurt parfait. We also had rice porridge one day, and baked oatmeal the next day. I would happily stay here again.

Excellent location. Really does feel Caribbean. Met other fun people. Bring your own bottled water. Ed was hard to figure out and talk too. Communicating with him is difficult. He seems to get mad if you don't want to eat his breakfast. Which is amazing but sometimes you need something simple. And you have no choice. Its a parfait everyday and then whatever he gives you. I've been to other B&B's where you can have cereal or toast and OJ or Milk. Simple choices. Here, you just get served. Maybe it was because he didn't like us but this is why I'm saying he was hard to talk to. Maybe he didn't appreciate the behavior of the other 4 people and as a result my wife and I didn't get a chance to talk to him. Just tread carefully and hope you don't get a cold shoulder. Cleanliness: Well we found someones socks under our bed. probably from the last guest. Silverfish in the building, but what downtown building doesn't have silverfish. The garden was great, the dogs were awesome, the maids were cool. Although I have mixed feelings, I do recommend staying here. It's a good value. And I hope my honesty helps. I like Ed. But it could get awkward and you wouldn't even know it.

Stayed here with my wife for one night to celebrate my first fathers day. The Parador Inn is a great B&B near downtown. Ed the owner was a great host and very helpful with suggestions on where to eat and things to do. One of the places he recommended to eat at was Church Brew Works. Highly recommend for a unique dining and drinking experience. The Parador is a short walk to Rivers Casino, which was nice. The mansion is very unique and decorated beautifully. I just needed a place to make a stop on my trip east, but this place is somewhere I would stay for a few days if ever back in the area. The room (Chenille) was amazing. Huge room, beautiful bath, impeccable furniture and everything was circa 1800's yet well well upkept and maintained. It's a short walk to museums, a nice big park and some restaurants. Two thumbs up!

We got off on the wrong foot by arriving too early. There was no one there to let us in or greet us and it was hot outside. I called and left my number so that the host could tell us when to expect him. He did not return my call and we left to find something to do for awhile. When I tried to apologize, Ed was very testy with me, telling us that those were his only four hours. I had informed the Inn on my registration (ahead of time) that my husband did not eat meat. There was no substitute for the meat when breakfast was served. It was good food but not the high quality we have been served at some B & Bs. We were disappointed in the room. It was not at all what we expected for the price. There were dust bunnies under the bed and in the corner of the room. The room was not conducive to people of average height. I would not recommend the Inn to my friends or family and we will not return although we have reasons to visit Pittsburgh on occasion. It is in a very good location for visiting various venues. I think Ed needs some help there with all that is required of him.

I am on site from 6 a.m. until 11 a.m. for breakfast and 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. for normal check-ins. CB made the reservation on line and it says on my web site that check-ins are from 3 until 8, she clicked the button that says she has read and agrees with my policies. She received a confirmation letter that is in normal upper and lower case except for the check-in time, that section is in all capital letters. When CB arrived at 1:30, I was in a meeting and had my phone turned off. When the meeting was over and I turned my phone back on, there was a message from CB that they wanted to check-in and they were on the porch. When I looked on the porch, no one was there, so I hurried and took my two dogs down to the park for their run before my normal check-in time. While in the park, my phone rang (my doorbell goes to my phone) and it was CB who asked "Is there anyone here to let us in". I told her no, I was in the park with my dogs and would be home soon. In no way was I testy, I was attempting to explain and apologize that I was initially in a meeting and then took the dogs for a walk. She told me "Don't get testy with me", so I stopped at that point. CB's home is a two hour drive door to door to my Inn. Arriving an hour and a half was not an accident. Yes, I knew ahead of time the JB didn't eat meat and failed to get a meatless dish to complement the entree. I have never found a meatless breakfast product I like and just don't think about them. I should have them on hand and will in the future. CB complains about the size of the room, I don't know what I can do about that. I don't say dust bunnies are acceptable, we are always battling them. But it seems to me that CB was just grasping at straws for things to complain about. I've been in some pretty dirty Inns and hotels. I am sorry she had a disappointing visit and if she wants to stay else where, she is more than welcome to.

I chose the Parador for a staycation and I was utterly shocked at what an incredible place it is. There is ample space to wander about ... read a book... and be outside. It's in an up-and-coming neighborhood that already has the staple venues in place (and upscale dining at Brix on the way ...) . Ed is an outstanding host whose laid-back demeanor allows you to feel like you are a guest at a friend's house. The colorful Caribbean flair tops it off. Thanks Ed, beautiful place!

After much research, my husband and I settled on The Parador Inn because it had the most charm and soul. It delivered. We stayed in the Chenille. I only wish we had more time to hang out at the Inn. There were so many rooms and nooks to explore and a lush garden. I could have easily spent a weekend just relaxing and reading in the sun room. Ed cooked us a delicious breakfast including a granola parfait, an asparagus and mushroom quiche and bacon. Next time I return to Pittsburgh, I plan on staying there. No reason to stay in some generic, boring hotel when you can stay at The Parador and experience a real slice of Pittsburgh.

Victorian architecture, historic furnishings, huge room, wonderfully incongruous and gentle reggae as background music, unavoidably creaky stairs, unusual and delicious breakfasts, energetic proprietor, quiet neighborhood.

We wanted to stay near Rivers Casino...but were only Big Hotels that you had to taxi to, so saw The Parador Inn..only 2 blocks from Casino...our first B & B. What a jewel! The host Ed was amazing, and his 2 black labs were thrilling for us, since we had to leave our pups at home. He has transformed this Victorian Mansion into such a wonderful asset for the Pittsburgh community. The rooms were massive and decorated beautifully. The English Garden, complete with large stone bird bath and cozy recliners was perfect to watch the birds at play, sip a glass of fine wine and play with RJ his 2 year old black lab. Breakfast was above expectation, with orange infused french toast, orange maple syrup, banana parfaits and the best coffee I have had in years. I can't wait to return. I would recommend the Parador for weddings, intimate parties, or family reunions. The owner is very helpful on the "must sees" in Pittsburgh including The Phipps Conservatory, the Worhol museam and the Mattress factory. For being only an hour from home, we were transformed to a place that had culture, grace and even a fun club at the casino for dancing. What a great birthday one-day getaway place.

We just concluded our fifth stay at The Parador Inn of Pittsburgh, our home-away-from-home in western Pennsylvania. As always Ed is a hospitable host, pleasant, friendly, and accommodating. His inn is beautiful, carefully appointed to reflect its history. The rooms are spotless, the beds are comfortable, and the breakfasts are delicious. We will never stay anywhere else when visiting Pittsburgh.

I absolutely loved the Parador. The room was absolutely outstanding - I was totally enthralled with the ceiling in our room and the bed was a wonderfully comfortable pillow top. Loved the antique furnishings and surroundings of the inn. It is beautiful, warm and friendly. The neighborhood was great for strolling. Ed was a wonderful host - sharing his property and experiences with us. We are definitely planning to stay here again on our next trip to Pittsburgh.

My husband and I recently spent a night here. We were in town for a little romantic get-away. We found the B&B to be fantastic. It's gorgeous, and Ed & the boys are the best hosts guests could ask for. Ed was such a great host and made us feel at home. The B&B was conveniently located near all we wanted to do, and we even found a gorgeous church around the corner for Sunday morning servie. The church is a landmark in and of itself. My husband was initially uneasy about the neighborhood, but felt fine once we were there and looked around. Definitely a place for pet lovers. Oh, and breakfast was super-yummy, orange french toast, fresh bread, yogurt parfaits, and breakfast meat.

We made a reservation by calling the Inn after we got the information on Bed & Breakfast website. All of the reviews seemed to be glowing. We were frankly disappointed at our stay. Ed is friendly enough and tries to help you find various places of interest. The biggest issue was that the bed creaked all night long every time my wife or I moved. We finally threw the mattress on the floor about 4 AM and slept much better. (I hate to spend $150 a night to sleep on the floor and wished he had offered some sort of partial refund.) When reported to the Inn owner, Ed, he said that no one had ever complained about the bed before. I just find that hard to believe. The other issue was that the room was really not clean. My wife actually wrote in the dust on the floor behind the door. There was dust on many other surfaces -- accumulated over a period of time. Cleaning should be more thorough. There were other small issues -- no glasses in the room, couldn't connect to the internet. After breakfast I told him we were not staying the second night. He gave me a refund since he had charged my card already for both nights, but I could tell he was unhappy about it. I really would not stay here again. This is a delightful property that needs some more TLC and hospitality to live up to its potential.

My stay at the Parador Inn was wonderful - the room was beautiful, the breakfast provided was lovely, and the overall atmosphere was welcoming. Plus, it was in a good location, and the owner had lots of great advice on places to see, as well as information on how to get where I wanted to go. I would happily stay there again!

Thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Parador Inn in Pittsburgh, PA. The antiques were gorgeous, the mansion is beautiful and the grounds are very nice. Yet it has a surprisingly "homelike" aura. Loved all the hints of the Carribean we encountered about the mansion. Would certainly make a return visit in warmer weather to see the garden.

We stayed here for a Pittsburgh football game. The place was REALLY nice. Our only issue was that our flight landed early and no one was around to let us in prior to the official "check in" time of 3PM. We walked around the neighborhood for a bit (not the BEST area, not bad by any means but not a lot to do) to kill time. Upon arrival, we were very impressed with the decor and overall ambiance. Our room was the Oleander and was FANTASTIC! Beautiful window seating area, fireplace, gorgeous claw tub. The owner has two super cute labs that we played with. Location is perfect if you are going to Heinz Field. Not really close to anything else. A 40-50 cab ride from airport. The breakfast in the morning was AWESOME. Very tasty. We will definitely stay again if ever in Pittsburgh.

Our stay at the Parador Inn was outstanding. From the "at home" feel upon entering the home, to the deliciuos breakfasts prepared fresh and hot each morning, to the knowledgable owner and the cozy rooms with so much space to put your "stuff", we just can't praise this B&B enough. And if you are bringing kids, they will love Razor and RJ, the energetic but gentle resident Labs. Definately a home away from home!

If I could give Service a higher rating I would. The Parador is located close to great food, lots of shopping and many popular things to do in the city. It's only a short walk to Heinz Field so you dont have to get into traffic after the games. Ed is a great cook and you will not start your day hungry. Although I am very picky about my coffee, Ed's is better! There is NO hotel feel here and I love that we are greeted with wagging tails.

We were looking for a hotel to stay at but came across this B&B and decided to give it a go, my expectations were met and then some. Ed & his dogs were terrific hosts and made us feel at home. Stayed over for a night recently for my wife's birthday and a night out with friends. Great location, close to many things including the casino. we're native Pittsburghers but it's always fun to "get away" for a night when you can. The house was absolutely beautiful, wine and port with friends in the parlor before we went out was a nice time as well. The Allamanda room (really a suite with 2 rooms) was huge and had all the necessary amenities and was very charming. We highly recommend this B&B and it rates very high on our scale, having stayed at many over the years. Great job Ed! Hope to see you again.

We stayed here 3 nights in Aug 2010. We stay at a lot of B&B's, this is the very best by a wide margin. Clean rooms, supurb breakfastes, soft Carribean music in the background. Located on the quieter Northside but only a 10 minute walk to downtown. A safe neighborhood, I am a retired police officer and my wife and I walked the area everynight after dark and were always comfortable in our surroundings. Be sure to get Ed to direct you to the best Thai restaurant this side of Thailand (easy walking distance) I wouldn't think of staying anywhere else in Pittsburg. Its a bargain, a steal, just a great place to stay. Ron & Rose Balcom

We had a very short, but enjoyable stay in Pittsburgh at the Parador Inn - arrived around 8 pm and left after breakfast. We had the entire place to ourselves. The mansion is gorgeous, with amazing fireplaces, furniture, and murals. My wife loved it because of its quirky, Carribean theme interwoven through staid, Victorian decor. Also, if you like reggae, you will not be disappointed. Ed the innkeeper was very accommodating and when we mentioned we had not yet eaten on arrival, he immediately called up a Thai restaurant down the street and sent us to a lovely dinner less than a block away. We would have loved to stay longer and explore the city more. Breakfast was fine, but nothing exceptional. We would certainly stay here again.

This was THE best bed and breakfast i have ever been to! It felt like home with the dogs and staff singing throughout the building. even if I had no reason to be in Pittsburgh I would drive the three hours out there just to stay at the Parador. Great experience for my first visit to Pittsburgh. Very friendly service and warm hospitality. Felt like we were staying at a friend's house vice a hotel. Breakfast was very yummy. Room was always cleaned and serviced when we returned to our room. The Chenile room felt like I was staying in a room aboard the Titanic or something. Very different but pleasant experience. Only negative was the shower. Felt a bit cramped in the old school circular shower curtains but not a big deal. Overall, the stay was awesome and totally worth it for the price. And loved those dogs!

We enjoyed our stay at the Parador Inn very much. The dogs were friendly and the host knowledgeable and appropriately attentive. The B&B was exactly what we were looking for - a comfy place to get away for the weekend. We were originally given a suite in the carriage house without a fireplace, but when we asked, we were moved into the main house into a room with a bit more ambiance and a fireplace. The accommodations were great. And the location was wonderful - well within walking distance to the National Aviary, the Mattress Factory, a handful of great restaurants, etc.

We had a great two night stay at the Parador. It is a beautiful old mansion, with excellent service and beautiful black labs. Our only regret was that we didn't have a room in the main inn. They are really close to Three Rivers Stadium, Heinz Hall, PNC Park, and downtown. Would definitely recommend!

Our room was very large. I was afraid it might be too light because curtains didn't close all the way or noisy, but it was fine. The house is pretty, with lovely woodwork and chandeliers. The best part was the breakfast. The bacon was the best I've ever tasted. The warm cinnamon bread was excellent and so were the stuffed French toast and banana yogurt parfait. There was so much food that we didn't need lunch.

It had been some years since our last visit to this Inn. It had in fact sat vacant for a number of years before being purchased by the current owner and innkeeper, Ed. Thankfully he has given this beautiful 19th century mansion a much deserved facelift. Staff is awesome, including , but certainly not limited to Razor and RJ, Ed's ultra-friendly labrador retrievers! The Caribbean theme actually works quite well, and you can't get better bang for the buck in The Steel City.

The Parador Inn is exactually what a bed and breakfast should be! Our stay was very pleasant and we enjoyed every aspect of the Inn. The common areas are wonderfully decorated and the garden and courtyard beautiful, and we felt welcome to enjoy them. The neighborhood has several great dining options too, and we were given help in finding things to do in the Pittsburgh area. Ed Menzer has successfully given a beautiful Victorian mansion the charm of the Carribean.

For the money, this is EASILY the nicest Bed and Breakfast we have stayed at. Honestly, they could charge $50 to $100 more a room and still get business. The Free Parking is a huge plus and the Inn itself is easy to find and right next to a park for a great little morning run. Within 800 feet of the Inn, there are four little sandwich shops which were all very good (plus a Wendy's, MacDonald's, and a Seven Eleven if that is your type of thing). The Inn is within easy walking distance to the Pirates stadium, the National Aviary, the Children's Museum, and the Andy Warhol Museum. As stated, the rooms and atmosphere are worth far more than what is charged, with stunning woodwork and interesting decor. Razor and RJ, the two dogs, know their limits and are very friendly as well. Ed was a very knowledgeable and friendly host too! We stayed two nights and breakfast was great both days! About the only negative thing I can say is that the bed we slept in was fairly small, but it was comfortable. Without hesitation, we would stay here again... the Parador Inn is HIGHLY recommended!

Staying at the Parador in Pittsburgh is one of my favorite experiences. It would be cool if it were just a beautiful old Victorian house, but Ed, the owner, has transformed it into a Carribean resort, with amazing decor and whimsical touches. Breakfast is always outstanding. The rooms are large and beautifully furnished. The yard is like a private park - with a white sand beach! It's so peaceful there that you forget you're 2 minutes from the downtown area and 10 minutes from Oakland. There are also a couple of great places to eat within walking distance.

The Parador is a destination in itself. Nestled in an historic neighborhood with several excellent restaurants within a block or two, this inn combines unique decor, plenty of rooms to spread out in, huge bedrooms and a superb breakfast, which is different every day, to make your stay truly refreshing. Ed has mastered the art of not just making his guests feel welcome but at home!

If you're looking for a wonderful place to relax and step back in time to when life was simpler and you could relax by the fire while listening to the soft music of the Caribbean, then this is the place to visit. Your Host Ed Menzer and your VP's of Hospitality Razor and RJ will make you feel welcome from the moment you step through the door. The gourmet breakfast that is provided is like eating at a 4 star restaurant. You can relax in the evenings in the downstairs parlor sipping Port Wine by the fire. The rooms are comfortable and beautifully decorated. The atmosphere is calming and restful. Ed gives great suggestions on places to visit. You just can't go wrong in my opinion. Enjoy your stay!

My husband and I stayed at the Parador recently and had a wonderful time. Our room was amazing, all the local suggestions from the proprioter , Ed, were outstanding and the breakfasts were also wonderful. It is a great place to relax and experience the heart of Pittsburgh. There is easy access to any part of the city you want to explore (as long as you can navigate Pittsburgh's confusing layout) and Ed was more than willing to direct us to where we needed to go. Highly recommeneded.
