5 sur 5a wonderful, relaxing, and educational getaway!
février 13, 2013
My husband and I stayed overnight at Flint Hill and learned cheesemaking with Kathy. She is warm and wonderful and well-informed. The farmhouse is lovely and authentic, with a nice warm room, comfortable bed, and modern bath. Kathy provided delicious and filling meals, complete with the farm's own cheeses, yogurts and smoothies. We made mozzarella and cheddar, and Kathy was a helpful and informative teacher, allowing us to learn and explaining the science behind what we were doing. All of the workers at the farm are kind, friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the goats, horses, barn cats and cows - helping the milk the cows was a new experience for me! We plan on coming back with our children, ages 5 and 9, for a farm weekend.

This is a great place to go if you want a real farm experience. The staff did an excellent job at answering questions and including my child in the farm chores. It was a wonderful spot for a family of animal lovers.

We stayed a night at the Equine Room. The farm experience was wonderful . Kathy, the owner was a very gracious host and made us feel welcome as soon as we arrived. The room was immaculate; be aware there is no tv in the room. It was a nice touch to have reading material available in the room. The room seems pricey but the rate is comparable to other bed and breakfasts. Kathy had an excellent breakfast spread prepared by 8:30 although we didn't get around to it until later. I love the homemade yogurt and butter. If you want upclose experience with farm animals, this is the place to be.

3,6 out of 5Farm experience for a family with young children
août 21, 2012
This farm is the closest one to NYC. It has a variety of animals, children can experience farm life first hand. Kathy, the host, was very warm and the house definately has a lot of charm. Love the coockoo clocks. We traveled with our two young children, 3 and 1, they both had a great time. The yogurt was absolutely exceptional! So are the fresh milk right out of the cow! All the volunteers at the farm are genuinely nice and friendly.
5 out of 5Simply the Best Extended Weekend Get Away in a Long, Long Time
août 09, 2012
Kathleen, This is our second extended stay at Flint Hill Farm, and we are already talking about our next visit. You farm is not only remarkable example of sustainability, but the sounds and smells and spirit of this place has once again enriched my soul. I am not usually given to this kind of vocabulary; most of my days are spent being an empirical scientist. However, a few days at Flint Hill Farm evokes something very different in me that only poetic words can capture. And, this past weekend we found a new way home to Philadelphia that takes us less than an hour.
4,2 out of 5Relaxing and fun stay
juillet 16, 2012
We were a little disconcerted when we arrived at 1pm and farm host Kathy mildly scolded us for coming too early for check-in; which is normally at 2:30pm, but we missed that somehow. She also said that in the Loom Room, the kids couldn't touch the vintage loom or the sewing machine, which worried us a bit, but in the end they didn't and it wasn't a problem. The only other thing we minded was the price; it was a bit more than the 3 other farms we've stayed at, but we were willing to pay more to be closer to our New York home. That being said, we loved the farm. Our one-year-old boy loved looking at and talking to and petting the animals. And Kathy had a big basket of toys for him to play with. Our 6-year-old girl had 3 horseback riding lessons (at $70/hr) and was thrilled. She was also allowed to join in with some day-campers that were there and did some arts and crafts with them and other fun stuff. We had to pay some additional money for that too. The breakfasts were out of this world. I especially loved the fresh sausage and bacon. The fresh cow's milk tastes different from store milk and I thought a bit strange. The fresh yogurt, yogurt smoothies, and goat's cheese were delicious. Kathy and the other people working on the farm were very glad to explain what they were doing, such as the milking process, the cheese-making process (they make cheese fresh on the farm) and so on. Our daughter got to help milk a goat, feed the various animals, collect eggs and so on. So overall, we had a great time and recommend it

great farm atmosphere, kids loved it and we were all thrilled to help with farm chores, But, 24 cats is way too many. She could stand to have thorough dusting done in the house. Need to notify any who have animal allergies. We dosed with allegra and still enjoyed.
