Staying the Kathleen was an amazing experience! She was very warm and accommodating and such a lovely lady to have conversations with! Her home, which she readily shares with visitors, is extremely cozy, oozing with country charm! Her pets provided us with so much comfort, I wished we could stay for much longer. Overall, it was an unforgettable two days and we have decided that each time we are in the area, we will definitely spend a few days at Flinthill farm. I look forward to signing up for te cheese making class the next time!

We arrived for a weekend on the farm with our little daughter who is 2.5 years old. To us this was an unparalleled opportunity to pet so many different farm animals. Kathy, the owner was warm and welcoming. We highly recommend!

The rooms are wonderful. The bathroom even has a jacuzzi. The breakfast was fabulous. The staff and volunteers obviously love animals and shared their knowledge with children and adults. This experience was almost too good to be true.

Flint Hill Farm is an amazing place. So many things going on! The farmhouse is so interesting with it's long history of being a working farmhouse. Far from being a creaky old house though, it's been renovated with the upmost care so that it's comfortable and clean while keeping its old-time charm. Kathy is a great host. Very cheerful and helpful. The private bedrooms are spacious and beautifully furnished, and the living and dining areas are great spaces to visit with the other guests staying in the house. The fresh eggs, yogurt, and milk fresh from the farm add to the whole experience.

Wonderful family experience! We have 16+ year old children and we all had a great time! Being a part of the daily farm work and experience was fun and educational! If you are looking for a unique vacation this is it! Country breakfast was delicious and offered quite a variety, including gluten free food!

Our farm stay was out of this world! Our four year old loved immersing herself and enjoyed feeding, grooming and helping as much as she could with the animals. Kathy was a terrific host and we learned so much. The only downside was reading online that there would be a hearty breakfast which there was not. The homemade yogurts, cheeses and breads were delicious, yet not what we expected as all that would be available for breakfast. Perhaps we misread.

We had a wonderful weekend stay at Flint Hill Farm in March. Just simply loved the fact that we could roam about the farm and participate in farm activities such as collecting eggs (which we ate for breakfast, yummy), making cheese and watching the births of baby goats. Great educational value for kids and a fun time all around. Especially playing with the baby goats (for hours!) was a highlight for our little one! Rooms were perfectly clean, of course on the farm you have to expect to get dirty, that's half the fun! Breakfast was plentiful and tasty, with most of the food homemade on the farm (breads, yogurt, cheese, eggs, milk...). Overall, the stay exceeded our expectations, left us refreshed and with a lot of memories.

With an eye to getting a few animals for our small starter farm, I booked the Farm Stay to get a first hand experience of what work would be entailed. The effort that goes into caring for their well-tended and friendly animals gave me more knowledge than any book or seminar could have. First off, the room was lovely, warm, and so comfortable that it took me mere moments to fall asleep after my busy day. Breakfast was homey around the large farm table with good company and so rewarding, knowing that we had gathered the eggs and watched the milking. EVERYONE was involved in our stay. Rebecca took us to feed the horses, cows, ducks, pig and calves, sharing practical information on their care, feeding, temperment, and clearly loving all of them. Later she showed us the cheese making process. Bens' knowledge of chickens and devotion to his charges was everything we needed to give us an idea of how to start up our own flock. Rebecca Too spent hours on everything we would need to know for a goat operation and gave us much to think about as opposed to getting a cow for milk and cheese. Kathy was up before the sun to tend to her chickens, gather eggs, pour milk for breakfast and have coffee ready for her guests. The conversation was friendly and informative and I came away with a real respect for milking cows - they are much bigger in person than I thought. There were more people than I can name that took the time to take us around and patiently share their expertise and experiences in tending and caring for farm animals than I can name, but they made our weekend just incredible. If you want a REAL education on what it takes to put food on the table with the warmest and friendliest group of people I've ever met, this is it.

I surprised my boyfriend with an overnight stay and cheese making class at Flint Hill for his birthday. The owner was very nice and accommodating and we had a wonderful farm experience along with the cheese making class. The accomodations were very nice, clean, and the fireplaces inside the home are a nice touch.

Just got back from a weekend at Flint Hill. We had a wonderful time tending to the animals, milking cows and goats, collecting and washing chicken eggs, and making mozzarella and cheddar cheese! The farm house was warm and cozy, and Kathy was a wonderful host. We awakened to a great breakfast every morning, and then went outside and shared in the farming chores. We learned so much from Kathy, Bruce, Rebecca, Mike, and Theresa who were all farming experts and could answer all of our questions. It was a life-changing experience and we left feeling quite connected to the people and animals at Flint Hill.

We were immediately welcomed to be an active part if the animal farming operation: milking cows and goats, feeding animals, gathering eggs. Plenty of time to relax and participate as we wanted. Staff is really available to educate, answering questions and doing extra things to make the stay fun and educational. I recommend bringing a packed lunch/dinner unless you want to drive out to a nearby town to eat out. Be prepared to get dirty and be outside. Our 4 AnD 1 1/2 year led loved it.

If you want a clean room to sleep in and updated bathroom...this is the place for you. If you want a bug free, web free barn, and beautiful green pastures...this is not the place for you. For heaven's sake this is a REAL farm. We had a blast. My grandson worked 12 hour days doing his chores. Feeding all the animals, milking the goats, hey, he wouldn't even stop to eat dinner, at 7 PM, because he wasn't done milking. Not only did he learn the magic and importance of a farm, he now wants to be a farmer. AND when we got home he asked his suburban parents for chores. It's been two weeks since our two night farm stay and he is still talking about. Did I mention that he is only 4? Well done Nana! Thank you Farmer Kathy and farmhand Bridget for an extraordinary experience.

I stayed in the RV during a recent visit to PA. The farm is gorgeous and peaceful and filled with animals of every kind. Everyone is very friendly and Kathy, the hostess, went WAY out of her way to ensure that I had a good experience. The breakfasts are phenomenal. Very unique experience, good value, and I will be back soon!

We had a wonderful weekend at Flint hill farm. If you are just looking for a B&B I'm sure there are better once out there but if you are looking to experience life on the farm, this is totally the right place. Our 3 y/o assisted with milking cows and goats, gathering and feeding the horses, taking care of a newborn calf , collecting eggs and more. Kathy the owner and the entire staff were were extremely pleasant and hospitable. We are definitely coming back.

Our stay at the Flint Hill Inn will not soon be forgotten. We were thoroughly impressed with the picturesque country setting and fell in love with the genuine hospitality. You are encouraged to walk the farm and take in all that the many acres has to offer. It is truly an experience. We had a great time interacting with the horses, cows, ducks, lambs, and farm cats. This was a much better choice than a chain hotel. I would definitely recommend this bed and breakfast to anyone looking for a country-setting getaway. And their homemade cheeses are superb!

The farm is big and if you have kids it's a great way for them to get in touch with lots of animals. We fed the goats and chickens, collected eggs each day, they went on a pony ride, played with the cats and rabbit, we took a walk in the forest and picked wild berries, they made fresh yogurt and smoothies. The only problem i had is that there was a lot of cat's hair in the house, in the bedrooms, living room, kitchen, everywhere, which made it very hard for me to relax. Other than that it's a great location, there is a cave 10 minutes away from the town and Crayola Experience half an hour away.

My best friend and I took our boys (5 & 6) to Flint Hill Farm Stay to reconnect and spend some time away as they are growing so fast. We were greeted by the owners sweet granddaughter as she walked us through the beautiful farm house, up to our cozy room. Gavin, the owner's grandson took us for a private tour of the farm as we got to know each animal by name. As he told us stories about each animal, we noticed his contagious smile that reflected how much he loved his work and time on the farm- so rare and nice to find. After a long peaceful rest, we woke up to a gorgeous breakfast of freshly made butter, cream cheese, eggs, toast, pancakes, yogurt and fresh fruit. It was heavenly. Next Gavin and his crew took us around the farm as we helped bring in the horses and cows as well as feed the chickens and collect eggs (the boys favorite part). Our only regret was that we could not stay longer. It was really a sweet place to visit- we were so happy we got to spend time with the gentle and caring souls that tend to the prosperous farm. We will be back soon for sure! Next time we will bring the girls!!!

My stay at Flint Hill Farm was truly special...full of experiences I don't think I could have had at many other B&Bs. Kathy and everyone else at the farm was so welcoming and accommodating, wanting to make sure that everything was just right and that the stay was more than just a place to sleep and eat. What a terrific opportunity!

Room: For our family of 4, we were in a room with 2 single beds and 2 single cots. It's been a wet summer, so everything felt a bit damp. Definitely not the comfort of a hotel. The second night we turned on the window AC unit which helped. Bathroom is modern and nice, shared with another room. They have toys in the house for the kids, which was great. Service: Saturday morning we all took a tour and the 6-year-old helped with farm chores. Gavin, the owner's grandson, was a great tour guide! My son absolutely loved it. Value: It's not particularly cheap to stay here, and you'll be charged for the farm experience (doing chores) as well. Cleanliness: No complaints! Just know that there are cats and dogs in the house, so bring your allergy meds if you react to those animals. Dining: The farm breakfast is amazing. So many delicious local foods prepared for you in the morning! There's also a farm store (that takes credit as well) so you can take some goodies home with you! Lovely setting, great experience, nice people! Thanks!

My husband and I stayed overnight at Flint Hill and learned cheesemaking with Kathy. She is warm and wonderful and well-informed. The farmhouse is lovely and authentic, with a nice warm room, comfortable bed, and modern bath. Kathy provided delicious and filling meals, complete with the farm's own cheeses, yogurts and smoothies. We made mozzarella and cheddar, and Kathy was a helpful and informative teacher, allowing us to learn and explaining the science behind what we were doing. All of the workers at the farm are kind, friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the goats, horses, barn cats and cows - helping the milk the cows was a new experience for me! We plan on coming back with our children, ages 5 and 9, for a farm weekend.

We stayed a night at the Equine Room. The farm experience was wonderful . Kathy, the owner was a very gracious host and made us feel welcome as soon as we arrived. The room was immaculate; be aware there is no tv in the room. It was a nice touch to have reading material available in the room. The room seems pricey but the rate is comparable to other bed and breakfasts. Kathy had an excellent breakfast spread prepared by 8:30 although we didn't get around to it until later. I love the homemade yogurt and butter. If you want upclose experience with farm animals, this is the place to be.

This farm is the closest one to NYC. It has a variety of animals, children can experience farm life first hand. Kathy, the host, was very warm and the house definately has a lot of charm. Love the coockoo clocks. We traveled with our two young children, 3 and 1, they both had a great time. The yogurt was absolutely exceptional! So are the fresh milk right out of the cow! All the volunteers at the farm are genuinely nice and friendly.

Kathleen, This is our second extended stay at Flint Hill Farm, and we are already talking about our next visit. You farm is not only remarkable example of sustainability, but the sounds and smells and spirit of this place has once again enriched my soul. I am not usually given to this kind of vocabulary; most of my days are spent being an empirical scientist. However, a few days at Flint Hill Farm evokes something very different in me that only poetic words can capture. And, this past weekend we found a new way home to Philadelphia that takes us less than an hour.

We were a little disconcerted when we arrived at 1pm and farm host Kathy mildly scolded us for coming too early for check-in; which is normally at 2:30pm, but we missed that somehow. She also said that in the Loom Room, the kids couldn't touch the vintage loom or the sewing machine, which worried us a bit, but in the end they didn't and it wasn't a problem. The only other thing we minded was the price; it was a bit more than the 3 other farms we've stayed at, but we were willing to pay more to be closer to our New York home. That being said, we loved the farm. Our one-year-old boy loved looking at and talking to and petting the animals. And Kathy had a big basket of toys for him to play with. Our 6-year-old girl had 3 horseback riding lessons (at $70/hr) and was thrilled. She was also allowed to join in with some day-campers that were there and did some arts and crafts with them and other fun stuff. We had to pay some additional money for that too. The breakfasts were out of this world. I especially loved the fresh sausage and bacon. The fresh cow's milk tastes different from store milk and I thought a bit strange. The fresh yogurt, yogurt smoothies, and goat's cheese were delicious. Kathy and the other people working on the farm were very glad to explain what they were doing, such as the milking process, the cheese-making process (they make cheese fresh on the farm) and so on. Our daughter got to help milk a goat, feed the various animals, collect eggs and so on. So overall, we had a great time and recommend it

We enjoyed our stay at the farm this past weekend and brought some dairy products home with us. We were only observers at the farm as our grandson was only 3 years old and could not help with the chores. Kathy, the owner is a great person and very dedicated to her farm. My only caution is that every thing is an add on - additional person in room, additional child on cot, tour of farm. I was not charged the same at another farm visit in Lancaster.

I book this farm stay as a present for my daughter who wants to be a vet when she grows up. This experience exceeded my hopes for her to get to experience what farm life is like. She got help feed goats, cows, horeses, and chickens. She even collected the chicken and duck eggs we had for breakfst. I our time was great in that there was a 4 day old cow she help with feedings and 3 sets of baby goats born while we where their, and she even helped with getting the new babies dried off. The is a great experience for any child to see what farm life is like, to understand where our food comes from and how much work it takes, and connect with nature. It was a 13th birthday that my daughter can not stop talking about! Melissa

Flint Hill Farm was a wonderful experience! Our Grandsons had a wonderful time and learned a lot about the animals and farm life. We were very impressed with the eco-friendly practices on the farm in every aspect of their use. The ability to see the reality of how their food is grown/made (beef, pork, cheese, milk, etc..) was invaluable to them and a whole bunch of fun for them. There is no question about the owner/host but we wish to make comment. Our hostess was warm, gracious, knowledgeable, an excellent teacher, had a very caring spirit and made us feel truly at home. There is no doubt that we would highly recommend Flint Hill Farm to anyone who is seeking a good learning experience or is just in need of “getting back to the land.” We also will consider returning in the future. We recently spent a wonderful week with our 9 year old granddaughter at Flint Hill Farm. Our stay was everything we could have hoped for - and more. Each day, starting with our delicious breakfast, brought us new opportunities to share in the life of the farm and to explore the surrounding area. Our granddaughter happily and confidently participated in the farm chores under the skilled direction of the staff. We were all made to feel welcome and included. It was a busy, but relaxing and renewing week. Our granddaughter did not want to leave.

My husband and I stayed at Flint Hill Farm for our anniversary weekend. The rooms, farm house and farm itself were all beautiful. Breakfast was delicious - you won't need lunch. Kathy is a gracious host with a big heart. One has the option of doing just those typical, wonderful B&B things and then going on an off-farm adventure. But I really recommend staying on the farm and lending a hand. You will learn a lot! I milked goats on my anniversary. :) Horseback riding lessons are an option. So are cheese making lessons (I intend to go back for that!). Kathy and her team are not only very knowledgeable, but they were happy to answer any questions about the farm animals and products. They were very busy, but willing to teach, always. We met a lot of interesting people on the farm, from other guests to future farmers who were there to learn skills, to volunteers all with interesting stories of their own.

We had a wonderful time at Flint Hill Farm. We were expecting to learn about life on a farm and farm animals. We definitely did: feeding baby goats, horseback riding, feeding chickens and gathering and cleaning the eggs, helping out with the horses. But we learned so much more as well, like how to spin yarn and how to make cheese. "Exceeded my expectations" doesn't begin to express it. There was a wonderful atmosphere at Flint Hill Farm, a sense of calm and community that ran parallel throughout the busy and constant stream of tasks involved in running a farm. While there was never a dull moment, it was also a wonderful way to take a step back from everyday life in a city. I highly recommend Kathy's Farm Stay vacation.

Flint Hill Farm is a wonderful farm that has so much to offer. As guests we were treated like royalty. My son was able to perform chores each morning and afternoon with very experienced people who explained to him everything that they were doing with the animals - from the feeding to the cleaning of the stalls, and everything that involved caring for the animals. The size of the farm was not overwhelming so we got a good feel of how things worked. We were served an enormous home cooked breakfast and were made to feel very comfortable by Kathy the owner. We will definitely be making a return trip!

We just completed our one-night stay at Flint Hill Farm. It was wonderful. Our 9 year old son had a lot of fun feeding the animals, picking up and cleaning eggs, even raking manure. Special thanks to Kathy and Farah (our hosts) as well as Eric for being so obliging and educational. We learned a lot and had a great time. An outstanding and lovely visit! We fell in love with Flint Hill Farm and will be back! Kathleen Fields is hardworking, multigifted, very hospitable and thoughtful, educator, believer! All the animals: cats, dogs, ducks, pig, over 40 goats and their kids, Jersey cows, rabbits, draft horses, mini horse and pony are gentle, friendly and loving, and she cares for her creatures. Wonderful homemade food!
