Welcome to The Lightkeeper’s Inn! Come and relax in a most unique part of Newport. The location gives you a breathtaking panoramic view of Yaquina Bay and Historic Bayfront. Evenings at The Lightkeeper’s Inn are mesmerizing. As the sun sets, you can watch the bayfront transform into a quiet harbor. The lights in the harbor gradually begin to light the walkways. The fishing vessels come in throughout the evening and light up the bridge as they come in. On occasion, you may see our Coast Guard practicing maneuvers in the bay. During the day, there is much to explore, all within walking distance. You can walk to the beach, stroll through the State Park, and visit “The Haunted Lighthouse”. You can wander the Historic Bayfront and shop in some of the beautiful galleries, visit our candy shops for a treat, go on down to the docks and watch the seals!

What a great gem in such a great beach town. The Lightkeepers Inn had a wonderful panoramic view of the bay (from every suite, the dinning room and the back deck). I really enjoyed the some of the little extras; from being able to do a little laundry after a day at the beach, bottled water and soda, keurig coffee, popcorn and especially the binoculars in every room. The place was very clean and modern while maintaining the charm and intrigue of a great B&B. Cheryl and Bill Lalack were phenomenal hosts, going out of their way to make the visit special with fresh-baked, homemade brownies (plus extras for the road), great advice on local events, restaurants and things to do and their warm welcome. Cheryl made a wonderful breakfast. The homemade hashbrown potatoes were my favorite, however other highlights included wonderful fresh fruit and, of course, the homemade jams.

Discovering I had picked such a winner, was a really nice surprise! We stayed one night, but felt we'd made a good friend and found a place we wanted to visit again for a longer stay. Unlike historical homes, this home was built to be a bed and breakfast—not made to work as one. A very thoughtful person clearly designed it to meet the B&B guest's needs. The modern, large and well-appointed guest rooms open up with a great view of the Yaquina Bay with its yacht and fishing harbors, historic waterfront, and the historic Coast Guard station that sits beneath the unmistakably “Art Deco” era Yaquina Bay Bridge. The guest rooms offered plenty of room to set down our bags, hang up our clothes, and still move around comfortably. They were furnished for relaxing with a book or movie, enjoying a light snack, and for peaceful night’s sleep. The decorating was done with a light and easy hand, and sported a distinctly maritime theme. The location is perfect for this charming harbor town—a short drive downhill brought us to the historic waterfront with its lively shops, bay-fronting restaurants, and long waterfront promenade. In the opposite direction, a short-level walk brought us to the seaside hotel district and a fine meal in a restaurant with ocean-side views. Best of all the hosts are friendly, easy going people who made it their business to welcome us with a glass of wine and a hot snack, and to answer our questions about where to eat and what to do while in town.

Our experience at this bed & breakfast was wonderful! The room wasclean, spacious and comfortable. The view from the large windows overlooking the active harbor was much more interesting than a common oceanside view. The fireplace proved to be a warm, welcomed surprise. Breakfast was thoroughly enjoyable and well served. We particularly appreciated the large deck oustide the room where we sat with our morning coffee while listening to the many sounds of the harbor.Perhaps the most important was the warm and gracious treatment we received by our hosts during our entire stay. The care and attention to detail made us feel welcome into their home and we look forward to staying with The Lightkeeper's Inn again and again.
