This was a wonderful stay. We wanted to hike around the area so stayed here for a weekend in the summer. The location is close to the Bruce trail. The house is lovely, with a lot of thoughtful details that we appreciated. We really liked the tasty food and a quiet night's sleep. The owners are wonderful people who went out of their way to be helpful, very polite thoughtful people. Would definitely stay here again if I had a chance and recommend it to anyone who wants to enjoy a stay in the Grey country.

Holly Cottage is our Home Away From Home. We have been visiting Holly Cottage for 10 years now. We started going there before we got married and now, with 3 children all under the age of 8, Holly Cottage is our little weekend escape. David and Norma welcome you into their beautiful and charming home and make the entire visit perfect from the moment you step through the door. Their knowledge of the area is excellent and they will direct you to exactly what you are looking for: from snowshoeing to skiing, from shopping to dining, from hiking to biking, to bird watching and looking at waterfalls in the area. They have maps at the ready and are happy to call ahead to make reservations for you for whatever you need. The rooms are perfect and getting a solid night’s sleep is always guaranteed. Breakfast is always hot and delicious and dietary restrictions are catered to (just ask). Norma and David just have this amazing sense of when to enlighten guests with their amazing and hilarious stories or about the history of the area and when to let guests enjoy the peace and tranquility of their own company and of the area. Holly Cottage, run by David and Norma, is an experience worth having. It is one that will always be remembered. Summed up, Holly Cottage is the place to go for a peaceful, relaxing escape with a large number of experiences to be had in a warm and inviting atmosphere. Do yourself a favour....visit Holly Cottage!

Do not miss your chance to stay at Holly Cottage! Traveling Ontario, Dave & Norma's home/B&B is on our list of favorites. Upon arrival, we were welcomed into their 1878 stone farm house. With the tasteful renovation of the original structure and addition, they invite you to enter this charming and most comforting home as if it were your own. We arrived early evening, settling to the invitation of cookies and tea, brewed in a charming English teapot. My husband was tired, so I enjoyed my tea and conversation with Norma into the evening hours, she telling me of the home's history and previous owners. We stayed in the spacious Fireplace Suite. It had a really comfortable bed and chairs/table. The bathroom was just outside the bedroom in the hall, but we were the only guests upstairs. It was very clean, having modern bath facilities and every thing you needed. The dining room overlooked the hummingbirds and vines. Norma's scheduled breakfast was fruit, juice, coffee/tea, chocolate zucchini muffin, scrambled eggs on salmon and toast. My husband does not eat seafood, so asked to delete from his plate. Being the ultimate hostess, instead served him a generous slice of ham. You will enjoy a full, yummy breakfast. We needed the services of a fax before leaving the area. Dave called an office source in Meaford, informed them of our needs and directed us to their store. Dave & Norma have set the bar high for the best in Canadian hospitality. We hope we have another opportunity to visit Holly Cottage. Thank you, Dave & Norma, for making our visit a lovely experience!!

I booked Holly Cottage on an impulsive whim knowing little about Owen Sound and less about the countryside where this B & B is. I thought the price was right and the photos were nice. We arrived and were greeted by our host Dave. This is a lovely and charming home! We stayed in the room in the original section of the house (Kyle Room) and it is very large and cozy. New huge luxurious bathroom with large glass enclosed shower and bubble tub...very nice. Our hosts Norma and Dave were the best. They have tons of info on what to do and where to go. Our breakfasts were wonderful with fresh fruit, juice, eggs with great coffee and any kind of tea you desire. The house is so welcoming and bright, super clean too. We would come back from hiking and chill on the porch and watch the birds come to the feeders. A small fridge is provided for your wine or beer also. We only stayed 2 nights but would come again in a heartbeat.

We stayed at the Holly Cottage over the Thanksgiving weekend in 2010. Dave and Norma were exceptional hosts and the care that they demonstrated with the décor in all of the rooms was definitely appreciated. Their hearty breakfasts were absolutely delicious. Dave and Norma truly exceeded our expectations! Only very special hosts can achieve all that they have and make it seem so easy and effortless at the same time.

I recently spent 2 days staying at this warm, clean, charming and welcoming bed and breakfast. The proprietors David & Norma helped make my stay a relaxing, memorable one. Having called in first to let them now of my being a vegan, they gladly met my dietary requirements and prepared some delicious vegan fare for me to enjoy. If I am back travelling in the area, I won't hesitate to make arrangements to stay at this wonderful bed and breakfast once more!

We stayed at Holly Cottage for the first time this fall. The area was just super for hiking and enjoying the fall leaves. Our innkeepers were very helpful planning our activities, including pointing out a great birdwatching area and made sure we knew about all the local waterfalls and a wonderful place to fossil hunt. They welcomed us like family. My 8 year old didn't want to come home! He loved the selection of books and toys but especially appreciated the hospitality and the attention that the innkeepers lavished on him. Simply a marvellous place for children. We also loved all the stories about local history and characters. We will definately return, both for the scenery and the cosy, welcoming accomodations. And the breakfasts ... they were delicious, nutricious and kept us going well into the afternoon!

This was our first time at Holly Cottage and the past two days provided an amazing get away in a delightful setting. Dave and Norma were gracious and friendly hosts who provided a warm welcome and offered tips on exploring the countryside - restaurants, hiking and driving trails including maps and directions. Stepping into the cottage and then peering into the newer section provided a WOW factor as the century old cottage gave way to the new addition. Beautiful windows provided a view of the wetlands and countryside. The fireplace suite was spacious and comfortable and the common room was cozy - perfect for an evening curled up with one of the many books displayed on the shelves. We will be back again many times and will spread the word about Holly Cottage to friends back in London. Thanks, Dave and Holly

Holly Cottage inspired me to express my experience in poetry. I'm sure it would do the same for any creative artist. A mix of old and new Grey Bruce decor adds greatly to its country charm. David and Norma are truly hospitable, sharing amusing stories worthy of a book. We loved the whole experience here and hope to return at first opportunity.
