I have never posted a negative review of anything. And, until now, I have enjoyed every b&b I've stayed in. I post this only because I wish I had been warned about Rogue's Harbor.
For what amounts to $210 per night, a b&b guest is entiled to enjoyable, or at least palatable, food, a sense of being taken care of, and maybe even a little charm. RHI failed in every respect.
The breakfast, on three consecutive mornings, was awful: "salmon hash" that looked and tasted like aging leftovers, lumps of tasteless, lukewarm brown/gray potatoes, etc. The food was unacceptable by diner standards. And, the cheesy (and remarkably uncomfortable) plastic chairs in the breakfast room did not help.
The housekeeping was indifferent at best. We returned late on our second night, to find four obviously-used house drinking glasses, and no fresh ones. And, needed vacuuming had not been done.
Most disheartening was that after the second lousy breakfast, I left word that I wanted to speak with the owner. The manager said that the owner might not call, and she sure didn't. Evidently, there is no interest in making things right.
This is a place to avoid.

Our family stayed for a full weekend at Rogues Harbor, booked in three rooms. The experience was fantastic. Rooms were spacious and clean, the breakfasts were great, and the restaurant downstairs was delicious (especially the beer!). Highly recommended.
Great place, wonderful breakfast!

My stay was very nice and I loved the room. Although I didn't get to eat dinner there (which smelled delicious ) I did get to have breakfast and it was perfect!
Great place to stay!

Large and clean rooms, with very comfortable beds and a choice of pillows. Large choice of booklets and guides if you want to find something to do/see in the area. Good value for money.
Food was good, but after a very long delay - got a glass of wine on the house as a compensation though.
Enjoyed it a lot and would stay again.

Beautiful for Holidays

I have stayed at Rogues' Harbor Inn during at least two holidays now and it is just beautifully decorated! It is a warm, elegant, beautiful and affordable! If I needed anything extra, the staff were only to polite and helpful. I highly recommend Rogues Harbor for it's accessibility to the area, style, and accommodations.
Cozy & uncrowded place to stay

Located on the east shore of Cayuga Lake, this Inn also once provided Seward (of Seward's Folly) a place to stay. The room (we had Number 1) was spacious and comfortable.
Because we were the only occupants that Monday night, service was very personal, friendly, and efficient. Breakfast was prepared to order and served in what was likely the Inn's original dining room.
My two suggestions to management would be:
(1) Lower placement of the soap and conditioner in the shower. I'm over 6 feet tall, and reaching the top of the dispenser was a challenge for me. My wife, at 5 feet, did not even try.
(2) While 93 degree days are rare in Ithaca, when they occur the Inn's rooms do absorb and hold heat. The window air conditioner in room 1 is too small for the room, making the room still warm after 10 pm. Replace that air conditioner with a more efficient unit matched to room size.
But, in spite of these fairly-minor problems, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again.
Rogues Harbor Inn

Room was nice, but the building is old. We didn't sleep well our first night due to the heat making a lot of noise.
I Love This Place!

i love staying at historic inns. rogues' harbor inn had a great pub where we had dinner and a bottle of wine, then we just walked upstairs to our room. we stayed in room 6 which was nice and quiet. the room was pretty and clean without being fussy or overdone. our really sweet asst. inn keeper cooked us eggs and bacon for breakfast in their newly renovated 19th century ballroom. staying here was a unique experience and a good value. we will definitely be back again.
Not recommending Rogues' Harbor Inn
sur décembre 31, 2008
My husband and I stayed at the Rogues' Harbor Inn at the end of September, 2008. The pictures on the website were much nicer than in person. We felt it could have been cleaner...Our room attracted several flies during our 2 day stay. The bed dipped in the center and the tv in the room was very small. Even to check the news a 13 inch tv wasn't adequate. I wouldn't recommend staying there. We were disappointed.
