4,4 sur 5We will return to Oxford Farm
juin 15, 2012
I found Oxford Farm listed in a brochure that focused on the Blue Ridge Parkway. I made reservations and our last night out, we stayed with Dr. Hapke. Our night there was very special. From visiting with Edith, drinking delicious coffee, touring the farmyard and seeing many peacocks and various livestock, visiting with Denise, her helper, petting the Great Pyrenees dogs, etc., we loved it. The breakfast was very good. However, I believe our highlight was visiting with Edith. What a special, interesting lady with a good vision for a B & B. I grew up on a small farm in the midwest so Oxford Farm brought back many good memories. My husband and daughter did not grow up on farms, so they especially enjoyed this experience. We will return again, hopefully soon. John and Pat

We have stayed at Ox-Ford Farms on four different occasions over the years. Dr. Hapke is a rare treasure! She saved this wonderful farm, created a world unto itself and still actively runs it virtually by herself. She was such an inspiration to us that when we retired we bought 36 acres in Georgia and opened up our own Bed & Breakfast / farm. If you are an animal lover Ox-Ford Farm is a very unique place to stay and visit. Pick your own eggs, help feed the baby lambs, hike up one of the most scenic paths in the Asheville area, or just sit down and talk to (listen to) one of the most fascinating women you will ever meet. If you don't like animals then a run of the mill hotel is a better choice, but if you do want to experience a working farm then this is the place to be. Ask her to go easy on the breakfast or be prepared to let out your belt. Tel her that Lester & Diane sent you.

Staying at Ox-Ford farm felt like checking into heaven. Even with our large group of 15 we were given exceptional service and our stay was very enjoyable. The doctor made us all feel welcomed, wanted, and spoke at length about the farm and it's history. My sweetheart and I even talked of being married here in the future. The slow and natural pace of the farm coupled with it's beauty and animal life took our breath away. It rejuvenated us body and soul and left us longing to return just as soon as we had gone. It has also inspired us to move to the mountains of NC in the near future. God willing we will continue to enjoy the beauty of Ox-Ford farm for years to come. Thank you.

My husband and I luckily happened into selecting the Ox Ford Farm B&B on a whim while exploring the Blue Ridge Parkway. Wow, what fun to see this working farm, tour the property, see all the farm critters plus dogs and cats, eat a fabulous breakfast, and get to know the wonderful woman owning and running the B&B. She is amazing. Children between 4 and 13 would LOVE this place. Very homey, not fancy, and a great place to visit.

5 out of 5More than a B&B

This is a destination by itself. It is difficult to rank favorites among the property, getting up close with farm animals of every description, the four wonderful Great Pyrenees companions, the tranquility of the setting, being awakened by roosters and peacocks, Edith's elaborate, farm-fresh breakfasts, etc. But right up there would have to be the warmth and personality of the innkeeper, Dr. Hapke.
5 out of 5Unique and exceptional!

I have stayed at the farm three times now, and each time fall more in love with it! It is truly a special place, and Edith Hapke, with her breakfasts and engaging conversation, makes the whole experience something I will never forget. My favorite visit was in mid-summer, when all the trees in sight were just lit up with twinkling fire-flies! There is no other place like it.

Our stay made memories! We saw Daisy's calf right after she was born and had eggs that were just laid and berries just picked. We were awakened by beautiful peacocks and can't wait to share our experience.
