This was our first "bed and breakfast" experience and our wedding anniversary weekend. The inn was quiet, comfortable, and stylish. Our hosts were hospitable, friendly, welcoming, and helpful on every front. Staying at OAK HILL on LOVE LANE contributed significantly to the memories created on our special occasion weekend.

Our recent stay was so enjoyable! What a great place to bring in the New Year! This was our second stay at this beautiful B&B. Oak Hill on Love Lane offers a relaxing setting, beautiful décor and a great place to unwind, as well as a fun get away to explore the many convenient attractions. Our room was comfortable and elegant. The entire home is filled with style and charm and was beautifully decorated for the holidays. Guest gather at a shared breakfast in a wonderfully furnished Dining Room. The hosts, Shell and Deb prepare a variety of inspiring, breakfast dishes that are served with gracious style. Guest rooms are meticulously clean and there is so much attention to details! My husband and I feel fortunate on our happenstance in finding Oak Hill, and have enjoyed coming back. Oak Hill is truly a gem and the owners, Shell and Deb, our both a wonderful couple and excellent hosts! We look forward to going back!

We knew there was something special about Oak Hill when upon booking the reservation, we received a call from Shell to confirm and find out more about our requirements. The Inn is beautifully decorated, staying true to the era while incorporating modern conveniences. The breakfast was delicious and the extras like the take away muffin were a nice touch. The attention to detail and the personalized service separate this B&B from many others we have visited. We highly recommend it and appreciate the dedication of Shell and Deb to delivering a quality experience.

Every detail is thought of during your stay. There is a butler's pantry in the dining room. It has both sweet and savory snacks available. Also, there is a nice selection of cocoa and hot tea. They even keep a Keurig with coffee available at all times. Each day a new freshly made sweet snack is available here. A genuine effort is made to not repeat breakfasts and in fact they tend to have a sweet then savory rotation. The owners act as your concierge for the local area and will happily make phone calls to make reservations and the like. They are friendly and at the same time not intrusive in the least.

I am a bit hesitant to post my review as sometimes when one finds something extraordinary - one almost is reluctant to share it with the fear that it may not be available when needing it again in the future! But I will share with the hopes that there will always be room at the inn for my husband and me. Deb & Shell treated us like family the minute we arrived right up until the hugs when saying goodbye's. Breakfast was a time of celebration around the table with great conversation, 5 star breakfast, and even a little bag of goodies to take with us for the day! We had a wonderful relaxing weekend and will definitely be back for more!

My wife and I stopped through on a whim to see the ginger bread house competition at the Grove Park Inn. It was short notice during Thanksgiving weekend, so the prices were off the chart at most other establishments. We gave the Oak Hill B&B a try and were so glad we did! Shell and Deb were the most delightful hosts and the food she prepared was prepared with love! It was delicious and quite satisfying! They work as a team and are very attentive and helpful. We are looking forward to our return in the spring!

Wonderful place in the beautiful NC mountains. Town dining and shopping a must. The proprietors are a prefect fit for this B & B. An annual tradition for us.
Margaret Lawrence Ray and Mary Virginia Ray were the youngest of 12 children born to Clyde and Ella Davis-Ray. As the babies of the family, the two girls occupied this room from birth through adolescence. Mary Virginia, who inherited her mother’s beauty, was named Miss Haywood County. •Bedroom, En-Suite Bathroom (second floor) •Standing Tile Shower •King Bed •Bay Windows •South & East Mountain Views (morning sunrise!) •Approximately 325 Square Feet
Clyde Ray Sr. Suite - This suite can be combined with the Bess Ray-Howell Room for a two bedroom suite. Clyde Ray Senior was the original owner of the home. It took Ray two years to complete the home and he took great pride in utilizing only the finest materials available at the time. •Bedroom, Private Parlor And En-Suite Bathroom (first floor) •Two-Person Jacuzzi Tub •King Bed •North & West Mountain Views •Approximately 510 Square Feet •May be combined with Bess Ray Howell Room to create a two bedroom suite
Bess Ray-Howell Room - Features a four-poster queen size bed with en-suite bath that includes a claw foot tub. Bess Haywood Ray was the 6th of 12 children born to Clyde and Ella Ray. Bobby Breese Suite - This suite includes a four-poster queen bed, private parlor and en-suite bath. Robert Hume Breese is the son of Jennie Elmina Ray-Breese, the 5th of 12 children born to Clyde and Ella Ray, and the eldest daughter. As the home passed thru the second generation, Robert and his family occupied the house for a number of years. Most of his family, including Ron Breese a prominent local realtor who represented the house, reside in Waynesville to this day and are very much connected to the original homestead. •Bedroom, Private Parlor and En-Suite Bathroom (second floor) •Standard Tub/Shower •Queen Four-Poster Bed •South & West Mountain Views •Approximately 430 Square Feet
Ella Davis-Ray, the matriarch of the Ray family, was a strong-willed and beautiful woman accustomed to all the luxuries of the time. Clyde, after much cajoling (and the advent of the railroad), convinced Ella to move to the budding town of Waynesville to raise their family. The story has it that after the birth of her 12 children, Ella, in an effort to insure her privacy, moved up to the guest room and promptly had a lock installed on the door! Needless to say, there were no more children after that. •Bedroom, En-Suite Bathroom (second floor) •Standard Tub/Shower •King Bed •Bay Windows •South & East Mountain Views •Approximately 340 Square Feet
