Great host: left antipasti, fresh eggs, wine, cookies, etc for our stay. Richard was the most welcoming host ever. The casitas were so charmingly decorated and comfortable we can't wait to stay again. Gorgeous views of the surrounding mountains, by a wetland with birds, an interesting town and surrounding area to explore, and on and on... I can't say enough.

Richard was very helpful upon our arrival but was somewhat reticent upon our leaving. Also, it did not feel nice to see the personal welcome sign for the next guests posted on the gate before our departure.

We celebrated our wedding anniversary with a trip to Taos and a stay at Casa Gallina. It was so comforting to walk into a warm, inviting kitchen with a bottle of wine and plates of goat cheese, crackers, and olives. The casita was so cozy and cute, that I didn't want to leave it to go to dinner. Richard also left some fresh laid eggs so that we could have breakfast in the morning. The kitchen was well-equipped, with coffee and tea-Richard had half and half and butter in the fridge, so there really is everything for a nice breakfast. We loved feeding the chickens and there was a garden to pick some lettuce and parsley. After a full day of touring Taos, we came home to a plate full of the best oatmeal cookies ever made-! Richard made our stay so special-we hope to come back soon.

Casa Gallina defies the category of bed and breakfast. We stayed in our own casita, 2 bedrooms, 2 baths, fully stocked kitchen, plenty of quiet spaces inside and on the property. Richard, innkeeper and owner, is gracious, helpful and obviously gifted with generosity and warmth. You will immediately feel at home and invited to rest. We shall surely return. (Dining great in TAOS.)

My husband and I took a three-day weekend in Taos in early October. Though we've lived in Albuquerque for years, we had never made it up to Taos, so we had high hopes for this mini-vacation. Casa Gallina did not disappoint. Our casita was perfectly appointed and we arrived to a warm welcome from Richard and a lovely little spread of snacks and wine. Richard gave us insider's tips about the best places to eat and the sights to see while in Taos. Casa Gallina is close to everything but you still feel like you're away from it all. So quiet and peaceful! The kiva fireplace got heavy use during our short visit. We just LOVED our time here and we can't wait to come back for another visit. Thank you, Richard, for everything!

Stayed two nights and wish we could have stayed longer. Richard is extremely welcoming and helpful with recommendations for local activities and restaurants. A must if you are in the Taos area.

Extremely nice place to stay. Having our own casita was special. The 3 star for dining is simply because you cook your own breakfast in your kitchen. Fresh eggs and a garden with a nice selection of veggies are available. Richard provided a great welcome with a bottle of wine and munchies. Couldn't have been nicer.

Richard has created an amazing oasis! Every detail ….. from peppermint shower gel to organic hot tea, fresh eggs, fresh flowers, herbs, access to garden for veggies made it such a little home away from home. I cried as we headed back home and still look back often at pictures just to have a moment of peace! It's so important to take time for recharging and relaxing in order to stay healthy and this place is perfect to do just that!! We even enjoyed gluten free homemade treats and never ate out during our stay! The place was comfortable and worked out great to have a full kitchen for cooking up some simple homemade meals. We felt so recharged!! We will certainly return for some more relaxation!!

Our 3 night stay at Casa Gallina was amazing. Bantam Roost was the more private casita, although each one appears unique and has privacy as well. From the fresh eggs to the peppermint bath soap, fully equipped kitchen, treats, furnishings, property with stream running thru, friendly dogs, chickens, garden ---- Richard has thought of everything and makes each guest feel so welcome. With gluten allergies it is often difficult to travel, but not this time! Richard brought us fresh gluten free treats. We never ate out while we were in Taos. The setting at Casa Gallina is so relaxing that we didn't want to leave for meals. This truly is a gem tucked away in the meadow. It way exceeded our expectations. We are already planning our next stay!

Great linens, comfortable indoor and outdoor seating, reading lights, thoughtful snacks, superior service Richard is great and always so helpful. Yoga studio and classes perfect too. Definitely coming back to feed the chickens. ¿¿

We wouldn't stay anywhere else. Have been there for the past 6 years and it's so wonderful. Richard is the best host we've come across in any small lodging settings. He's warm and friendly as are all the casitas. You'll find organic fresh garden veggies in the summer to prepare in well stocked kitchens. Outdoor private seating for units and beautiful grounds to stroll. The bedding is wonderful. We feel relaxed and well taken care of when we leave and look forward to the next trip. One caveat, you may want to bring ear plugs for the chickens in their coop waking up early. But it's worth it if you eat eggs and want them fresh in the am.

We couldn't have asked for a better experience. The room was comfortable and full of modern touches, the property was charming, and our host introduced us to some of the best sights and activities in Taos. We'd visit again in a heartbeat!

This was our second visit. We first stayed here in 2007 and were so impressed and taken by the place we vowed to return. To our shame it took us 7 years. After this length of time it is often the case that a return to a place can be disappointing. However this was not the case on returning to Casa Gallina, we are delighted to say our lovely memory's of our first visit were surpassed. From the welcoming delecasies and the constant supply of culinarine treats from Richard to the accomdation and surrounding views. Our 5 night stay in the Red Rooster Casita was with out a moment of hesitation 5 star.

Richard was a great host and always welcoming. The casitas and the property are a little slice of heaven. We could not have asked for more. Definitely worth the nine hour drive. We will be back!

Our family enjoyed Casa Gallina immensely. The accommodations were outstanding. The kitchen is well equipped. We arrived late to find a bottle of wine and tasty hors d'ouevres on the kitchen table. No meals are available, but the owner provides 1lb of freshly ground excellent coffee, along with fresh eggs and home made pastries, daily; and plenty of information and advice about places to go and things to see in Taos. The grounds are delightful and the eggs are provided by a small army of chickens that are maintained in a fenced area on the property. The location is a few minutes from the town center, which suited our preferences. I highly recommend Casa Gallina, and we plan to return.

Our stay at Casa Gallina was delightful. When we arrived, there was a bottle of wine and antipasto to welcome us. Richard mapped out the key points of interest in Taos. The decor was charming. The accommodations were very comfortable. There were home made afternoon treats as well as fresh eggs from the chickens. Richard is a wonderful host who sees to it that his guests are well cared for.

Staying at Richard's Casa Gallina is like entering a world set apart. Everything from the welcoming bottle of wine to sitting in the garden watching the girls scratch for food is a pleasure. Richard has seen to every detail for your comfort. Because of him my husband and I now own chickens. I admit ours do not have the class of Richard's girls. I highly recommend Casa Gallina, karen frances

I had a lovely stay in Taos and my casita was a highlight. I only stayed two days, but it immediately felt like home. I had a great deck with views of the mountains. A cozy living area with a fireplace and a nice kitchen. The bottle of wine and the snacks waiting for me were a nice touch. I would stay there again if I make my way back to Taos.

This is such a beautiful and serene place to be! It is beautifully decorated, and so comfy and cozy! Our host Richard is so kind and thoughtful and just wants you to be happy and feel at home. Which we did! He made sure all our needs were met. He also spoiled us with delicious and homemade treats everyday! And made a point to check in us regularly to make sure we were taken care of! I just love it here and can't wait to return!

Everyone who runs a B&B hopes or aspires to offer the kind of hosting that Richard does effortlessly. Truly warm, welcoming, charming ... we adored our little adobe home, the views towards the mountain are fantastic, the furnishings great, all the little touches perfect. We got to see a side of Taos we would have missed with spot on dinner and country walk recommendations. Easily one of our favorite B&B experiences ever. We'll be back.

This was among the best inns I've ever stayed in. Richard, the host, was phenomenal. The casita we stayed in (Bantam Roost) was beautiful--clean, artsy and well-appointed. I cannot think of a better place to stay in Taos!

My partner and I had a wonderful stay at Casa Gallina on our recent trip to Santa Fe and Taos. Richard, the owner, has created the perfect getaway on the rural outskirts of Taos. The beautifully-decorated casita we stayed in had a full kitchen, entertainment center, comfy furniture, and a lovely fireplace. It felt like home away from home. We enjoyed fresh eggs every morning from Richard's girls in the backyard. We found special treats ready for us after a day of exploring the Taos area. And we also enjoyed the very nice shampoo, soap, and lotion that was available to us. Normally, when we're on vacation, we are not happy when we experience inclement weather. Here, we were actually happy when it rained one day, because it gave us an excuse to hang out in that cozy casita. We thank Richard for his attention to detail, and for his hospitable, but nonintrusive, approach to our stay at this highly-recommended place.

Richard Spera and his Casa Gallina offered us the best time we have ever had in a bed & breakfast situation. Everything bears his touch, from the decor, to the landscape and his delicious breakfasts (opt for them!) He is also known to leave you an occasional home baked treat. He is friendly, knowledgeable and the Inn is GREEN. Only organic and green products are used, and wind powered electricty is used as well. He is an Artisinal Innkeeper, and does not cut corners, and subscribes to Fair trade practices and products to ensure that he buys services and goods that are produced where countries treat their peoples fairly. Wi-Fi and computers in every Casita, Kiva fireplaces or wood burning stoves, and Satellite TV and hundreds of CDs of the best music are at your fingertips. Be sure and book one of Richard's professional massages when you book your Casita. His book fills up from guests and outside clients, so act then! Once you come, you will return. He's more than an innkeeper. He loves everyone. A friendlier person you will not find. You'll want to remain friends after you leave!
