A treat to find in Farmington

    mars 25, 2013

Such lovely hosts and comfy room. Being GF and dairy free I was treated with a fabulous breakfast. I would recommend it as a little surprise venue. Just needs a little better signage. Thankfully we arrived before evening and winded our way in.

Our B&B is hidden away isn't it, a little oasis. We are happy to guide our guests in when they telephone us as they are about to approach our driveway. We additionally offer to meet our guests should they wish so that, again, we can physically guide them to our B&B. I am most happy to prepare a gluten and diary free breakfast. My "joy" comes from being celiac myself. What have we done to the quality of our food that some food now causes illness rather than giving us nutrition and health? A new recipe book David found is: "Learning to Bake Allergen-Free: A Crash Course for Busy Parents on Baking without Wheat, Gluten, Dairy, Eggs, Soy or Nuts" by Colette Mart. I wish you continued healthy eating.

Both David and I do hope to help our guests with their plans for each day's itinerary and to choose a restaurant. I am pleased to hear that we were indeed successful with this goal. Our river side location we cannot take much credit for but do love sharing our New Mexico landscape. Thank you.

    A Charming Hideaway

    janvier 02, 2013

We stayed in the "Cottonwood" suite during the third week of November. It was peaceful and cozy, with a private entrance tucked away off the highway and a patio overlooking the river. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Our hosts, Diana and David were charming, very helpful and extremely knowledgeable about the history of Farmington and the surrounding area. Diana's home cooked breakfast was just the thing to ready us for a day's exploring the local highways and byways. Definitely one of the highlights of our Thanksgiving road trip!

    Réponse du propriétaire
Thank you for choosing our B&B. We do so love to share our San Juan River in the high desert of New Mexico. David's grandmother purchased what today is called a "sweet" location on the outskirts of Farmington, three whole miles from downtown. We enjoyed visiting with you. Our guests are the gold mine of the B&B business.

    Peaceful and Perfect!

    novembre 07, 2012

This is just the type of B&B that we especially treasure. The innkeepers live on the premises but they were not intrusive, and we met them only when we asked directions to local sites or at breakfast when David shared his extensive knowledge of the area with us, and during one breakfast Diana read lovely passages from works written by local authors. The rooms and the dining room had beautiful San Juan River riparian views. We stayed there for three nights with three friends from the UK because the location was perfect for visiting both Mesa Verde and Chaco Canyon. Everyone loved their rooms. The beds were comfortable with amenities like frigs. The breakfasts were homemade from local organic ingredient and concocted with Diana's inventive culinary skills. Better to arrive during the day because the road to the inn may be difficult to find in the dark.

    Réponse du propriétaire
Thank you! It is our wish for all of our guests to find our B&B as enjoyable as you report. I read from Scott Momaday's book "Ancient Child", which features Grey as the young heroine who swoons at times when dreaming of Billy the Kid. HIs novel, "House Made of Dawn" was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1969. We also share our copies of Craig Child's writings. Well we do have the 7,000 volume library so it is reasonable that books take center stage frequently.

We are grateful that your stay with us allowed you to be gracious in your review. Our "job" as B&B hosts is to provide our guests with a comfortable and safe home away from home. We work to make breakfast a super way to break the fast of the night before. What a delight for us to begin the morning with self actualized happy persons and then share information about the area where we live.

    Jewel in Framington

Diana and David are great hosts. We enjoyed the comfort and quiet of the surroundings along the river in Farmington. Diana makes a great breakfast and both Diana and David provided interesting insights for our travel in New Mexico. We were made to feel very welcome.

Thank you for your kind words. It is our pleasure to offer a relaxing environment and a healthy breakfast which will give you the energy for your adventures of each day. One does go on holiday not just to see new sites and experience new landscapes but to renew the soul and body. When we have guests who sit by the river it warms my heart.

    Lovely People-So So Room

    juillet 01, 2012

I'm sorry to say I was a bit disappointed in the room. Extremely small & because of area bugs crawling around walls. Couldn't open windows or doors unless lights were out because of bugs. On the up side bed extremely comfortable & food very good. Innkeepers very hospitable & nice to visit with. Nothing really wrong with the place. Just a bit too rustic for me.

    Réponse du propriétaire
Thank you for your response. This oasis of High Desert Jungle on the banks of the San Juan River, has brought the added challenge of keeping local insects out of our indoor space. In our search for a safe solution (to humans anyway, we do wish to remain "Green") to discourage, say, ants from assuming they are welcome inside finally led us to a solution. Yes, it is more complicated than just talking to these ants. For the flying insects, it is our recommendation to guests in the summer, that if they wish to embrace the fresh riverside air in the evening, that leaving the wooden door open so that the breezes can come through the screen door or opening the windows, includes the advise that it is best not to do so until it is time for lights out. It is not only the moth that is drawn to the flame ( or light source) but others with wings so fragile, so marvelous, but they do need to remain out of doors. Fresh air and the world outside. Winged Creatures Thus little winged creatures fly ¿to the moon and through the sky ¿fairies work no time for play ¿thus now comes the brack of day¿ the fairies stay tucked away¿night comes once more¿ then the fairies come to finish their work Here is winter then the spring ¿then the princess fairy spreads her wings ¿she comes to find a new love then ¿the seasons start all over again By Ashling Nehring,¿Ireland,¿January 2005

    Great time in New Mexico

    avril 23, 2012

This is a charming bed and breakfast. The rooms are very comfortable and clean. The view is outstanding. What could be better than to have your own patio and watch the sun go down while being visited by the resident dog and cats. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. My son, who is a picky eater, loved the breakfasts. The owners are very nice people.

    Réponse du propriétaire
What a grand “thanks” I give to you for your response. It fills me with contentment to witness our guests sitting on the covered porch to watch Ol' man River flowing past, on towards the Colorado River and Lake Powell. When we took on our first B&B dog, Tewa, we were most anxious about the response of B&B guests. Through the years Tewa earned a number of tips, half a chicken, dollar bills to buy treats, and an offer to visit not only Connecticut but Florida too. For six years we were without a dog after Tewa died but last year in August, 2011 we brought home a puppy whose name is Caliner. Again, we are watchful, to keep her from annoying our guests but most of our guests tell us they have dogs, yes, in the plural, at home and enjoy the friendly greeting of the loving four legged canine additional host. Our breakfast is listed as "Continental Plus," with a freshly baked pastry, fruit, juice, coffee or tea. We strive to use organic ingredients when possible and the last few years it has become much easier to procure organic ingredients. Our guests come to us with a wide variety of experiences and developed tastes. We do hope to have our guests find a healthy choice in the breakfast provided. Our pastries contain eggs which we hope will be the protein a guest might be looking for as a good start for the day. Happy to learn your son liked our breakfast.
