For 2 years a friend and I talked of having a girl's getaway and picked Adventure Inn. Three days before our scheduled stay our family was hit with 2 crises. The day before, my friend's husband was in a car accident. After wrestling with whether to cancel or reschedule, we both decided to go (hubby sore but OK). We were so stressed, I could hardly breathe and my friend was halfway to Lake Michigan before realizing she was headed to the wrong lake! When you are totally wrung out, little things really stand out. And that is why you want to come to Adventure Inn. The attention to detail and the little flourishes are simply outstanding. Chocolate dipped fruits at night. Access to tea and coffee. Freedom to use the sitting room, deck, chairs by the beach. The homemade soap. The lovely flower arrangements at the table. Food so good you want to lick the plate. Willingness to accommodate food allergies and other special needs (like my need not to be exposed to certain motor noises like lawn mowers or power tools). Quarters and nickels in the Toy Room to play the antique slots. Hosts that don't make you feel awkward even though you tear up whenever anyone looks at you. If you can enjoy your stay when you feel the world is crushing you and leave feeling so much better than when you came, then you know you have found the perfect place to come back to when the clouds pass. Adventure Inn provided a necessary respite for us both. I plan on more visits! See you there.

I love that sentence: "If you can enjoy your stay when you feel the world is crushing you..." And the entire review is one of the nicest and most memorable we've received. Thank you so much. When you posted it, I was on vacation on vacation and I figured I'd write a response when we returned. But life had other plans: My mom passed away, and settling her estate preoccupied me for several months. That accounts for the delay in my thanking you, which Nicholas and I sincerely do.

I stayed at the Sandy cottage in June 2014. Everything was so perfect and the cottage is beautifully decorated. It was immaculately clean and everything we needed (and then some) was there including a hose for washing off sandy feet. The beach is very close so no need to worry about walking and the chairs under the trees provide shade. It's a very lovely and private setting and I'm very happy I got to stay there. I only wish it could have been longer. Julie

We enjoyed our stay here, very nice room staying in the toy box room, double the size of the aft cabin but both were clean with great views of lake. Breakfast was delicious with fresh fruit and some cobbler dessert, very light breakfast. Coffee was the only portion that was not gluten free but we had a great time. Would recommend. If you are going out to eat I recommend the Stone Lodge for dinner and drinks by the fireplace!

Nicholas and Sandy made us so comfortable with the accommodations and beautifully displayed and tasteful breakfasts. We invited the family and rented their entire facility. What a special time we had together! They thought of everything in the cottage where we had a cookout to celebrate a couple of birthdays. The kitchen had everything we needed. I highly recommend this Bed and Breakfast.

We love the energy, camaraderie and extra air of festivity when friends or family occupy the rooms. Nicholas and I try to stay out of your way when we're not making breakfast.

My husband and I have decided to make this our anniversary tradition to stay here each year. Our first time here last year led us to want to come back this year. This place is a gem and such a beautiful place to relax and enjoy lake Huron. Sandy and Nicolas are wonderful people and gracious hosts.

When the names of repeat guests pop up among the incoming reservations, it's like getting a little compliment, and we thank you for that. When repeat guests arrive, it challenges us to try to exceed their expectations. We thank you for that, too.

The reviews on various sites are uniformly positive. We agree with them all. There simply is no better B&B in SE Michigan, certainly not on the lake shore, and believe me we looked. But you have to get over the fact that the proprietors live in the house too, which for us was like having mom and dad in the next room. And that put a damper on things we wanted to do, i.e., thinness of the walls and us waking up in the middle of the night. That trade-off from the privacy and relative anonymity of a large hotel was the one drawback on an otherwise perfect weekend. Also though the breakfast selections are very much worth getting out of bed and dressed for, since we were away from the kids I might have rather opted for sleeping in and enjoying my spouse for breakfast. Again something that room service and a do not disturb sign would have gotten us at a major hotel. Nevertheless I'm sure we will go back at some point. But I think we will use the Sandy Cottage for just the two of us to get maximum privacy.

Everything about our stay exceeded our expectations. The decor, comfort, cleanliness, location, food, and the hosts friendliness was outstanding. Thank you both for a great "get a way."

Three friends (since childhood) and myself stayed at Sandy Cottage for our 50th bday celebration. It was the perfect place to kick back and relax. The cottage is beautiful with tons of space/elbow room and accommodated the four of us nicely. Come with your clothes & food because Sandy & Nick have thought of EVERYTHING when it comes to stocking this lovely home. And be sure to wake early at least one time to take in a sunrise. Gorgeous!
